"Men will give up their happiness for their families but women will give up their families for their happiness."

My DH explaining the burden of being a man to me this morning.

OP posts:

I’ve always wanted to know- what’s it like being married to an idiot, OP?

Well Peppa Pig is hardly the epitome of the best family values - so perhaps that's got something to do with his comment! 🤔
Being utterly selfish when it comes to leaving your families isn't gender specific anyway. I've known women and men who have chosen their own happiness over their DCs.

Well the percentage of single mothers to single fathers is 84% to 16% so there is a clear gender bias.

unsync · 22/12/2024 17:10

Maybe he should take a quick spin through the Relationship board here, and see how many of those women are happy.

Biased yes, specific no. Like I said I know males and females who have done this.

How does he cope with both his brain cells poor pet must be confusing for him

Pieandchips999 · 22/12/2024 17:12

Has he had a knock on the head?

Downinthecellar · 22/12/2024 17:15

Urgh, men who project the whole ‘unhappily married man’ trope gross me out.

No one MADE you get married and have kids!

If you wanted to remain single you could have! It’s so insulting to the women they’re with.

When I got engaged a man at work said to me “did you force him to propose?” 😂😂😂 I thought that said a lot on his view of marriage even it it was a ‘joke’.

NunyaBeeswax · 22/12/2024 17:16

Sadly, it is my experience that it's more like:

"men will forget their families for their cock, women will give up their happiness for a cock head"

CheekyHobson · 22/12/2024 17:16

Like a pp I know of a single solitary mother who fucked off and left her children with their father. I am 51. It was the mother who used to live next to us when I was about 12. She left her husband and children and moved to NZ to follow her dream of being an artist.

I also only know of one such situation - my boyfriend's ex-wife, who moved overseas without her primary-aged child, leaving him as a solo dad. They had been separated for a handful of years at that point - he instigated the divorce - and were co-parenting pretty evenly up until then.

mbosnz · 22/12/2024 17:17

Aw, bless his sweet little deluded heart.

Hung over, watching Peppa Pig with DC, whilst feeling sorry for Daddy Pig.

That is a really different take on Peppa Pig...

ChristmasKelpie · 22/12/2024 17:20

Has he been on the Sherry ?

hattie43 · 22/12/2024 17:20

Well my mum certainly gave up her family for her happiness . Walked out on us for another man .Thank god for the stability my dad offered .

justasking111 · 22/12/2024 17:26

Upstartled · 22/12/2024 16:24

Daddy Pig is completely downtrodden, diminished and mocked by his awful family, tbf.

Never thought of Peppa Pig as a incel text though 🤔😅

Edited

Daddy pig is a figure of fun that I found unpleasant when I saw it. Grandpa saves the day all the time.

Daddy Pig is basically Homer Simpson - a bumbling incompetent who thinks he’s a grown up.

You husband is absolutely deranged if he thinks men are the sex that’s hard done by in a family.

Married men live longer and are healthier and happier than single men. Married women live shorter, unhealthier and less happy lives than single women. These patterns repeat across the West in study after study.

Just as boys do better in mixed sex schools and girls do better in single sex schools.

They benefit enormously from us, we do worse with them. The data don’t lie.

Bollocks. In my experience it’s the other way around!! Your DH needs to give his head a wobble.

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/12/2024 17:28

What a moron.

In my (sadly extensive) experience, its usually the other way around!

Characterbuilding · 22/12/2024 17:29

I'm sorry to hear that your husband has had a blow to the head.
I hope he regains his senses before Christmas Day and the festive season isn't further ruined for you.

AgnesX · 22/12/2024 17:29

Bit of a drama queen is he?!

I think maybe he’s got that the wrong way round 🤣🤣🤣

devilspawn · 22/12/2024 17:39

Which women are giving up their families? Is there a specified donation point for in-laws or can we just leave them anywhere?

PyongyangKipperbang · 22/12/2024 17:41

AgnesX · 22/12/2024 17:29

He's hungover, sorry....ILL, so of course he is a drama queen! Remember Denise with her hangover in the Royle Family claiming she had a migraine, which coincidentally happened after her getting shit faced the night before? I am imagining that 😅

What he means, if my ex is anything to go by "I feel like shit, cant say anything because its my own fault, but I dont want to have to do anything for the family today and you are a selfish cow for not indulging me".

🤣🤣🤣 have you managed to pick yourself up off the floor yet?

TheCanaryInThePurpleSkirt · 22/12/2024 17:44

Is he “Mr Topsy Turvey”? 😬

viques · 22/12/2024 17:44

I think you ought to buy him an embroidery frame and some silks, by the time he has embroidered his little motto and embellished it with love hearts, violets and roses he will have realised that it is complete bollocks.
