To be so disturbed by the male race currently

All the business with Lily Philips - how many men queued up to do what they did to her

And Gisele Pelicot

Are men really that obsessed with sex that they are so desperate to rape and queue up and be solely concerned with their own depraved satisfaction.

I know it's not all men but I'm feeling so disillusioned with men in general and it seems to be getting worse and not better.

Does anyone else feel like this? Also the only people I see posting about Gisele are female.

Where are all the men??

I'm raising boys and to be honest it's terrifying to look at my innocent children and the world they are growing up in.

They really aren’t that different.
Lily Phillips is self harming IMHO and what man in his right man would take part in that fiasco?

They are completely different by definition. One includes consent, the other doesn't. I do agree that the men participating in the Lily Phillips situation are vile, but they are not rapists.

HolyPeaches · 20/12/2024 15:06

Does anyone else feel like this?

Yes, absolutely @honeypotter. It’s seriously disturbing and depressing.

It’s also exhausting the amount of “not all men” cries that come from a lot of men AND women. We know it’s not all men, but it’s a hell of a lot. And we don’t know which ones.

We’d all like to think our husbands, fathers, brothers, friends etc. aren’t capable of inflicting violence or sexual assault/harassment on women, but to be honest, none of us really know if they are.

I’m sure the 50 odd men that raped Gisele had wives, daughters, mothers who would have had no idea their loved one was capable of such a heinous act.

I despair. I really do.

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/12/2024 15:06

The thing I find most disturbing is we ALL know men like this, we just dont know which ones they are - they hide in plain sight.

MemorableTrenchcoat · 20/12/2024 15:06

BellissimoGecko · 20/12/2024 15:02

@MemorableTrenchcoat - disrespectful to themselves, to Lily and to women in general.

And if you think that is highly pleasurable then you must have low standards. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Once again, sex and orgasms are highly pleasurable. That’s not my supposed low standards saying that, it’s a physiological certainty. Don’t believe me? Ask any doctor on the planet.

LolaB00 · 20/12/2024 15:07

I work in a mens prison, and most of the men I talk to or see about the wing are perfectly reasonable and nice to my face. I get on with the majority I deal with. However, I KNOW what they have done. Some of the outwardly nicest men I have met inside, have done HORRIFIC things to women, and I am telling you, you would not know it if you met them in a pub or on a bus or at work.
It has put me off men and I am very distrustful of men.

I don't understand how Gisele's husband got only 20 years? For 10 years of consistently drugging his wife, then running a rape brothel? Seems a bit low for me

That was the max sentence that could be given I believe, which is shit. The only good thing is that the low life is in his 70s and will hopefully die in prison.

BourbonsAreOverated · 20/12/2024 15:07

To make things worse the website where Dominique Pelicot advertised his wife was only closed when men started getting raped. Other cases of women’s rapes were linked to it. That was fine. It was only when LGBTQ+ groups campaigned because of men.

Taytoface · 20/12/2024 15:08

MemorableTrenchcoat · 20/12/2024 14:07

The men didn’t do anything to Lily Phillips, they accepted an invitation to indulge in a highly pleasurable and consensual activity with a willing participant.

And this is where sex work is work takes you.

HolyPeaches · 20/12/2024 15:08

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 20/12/2024 14:15

Using these two women in the same example makes me very uncomfortable.

Both Gisele and Lily are basically seen as sexual objects to these men - because they are women.

Just because Lily invited these males to take part does not take away the total disrespect and disregard these men had for her.

and women & men like @MemorableTrenchcoat back them up, cover up for them, make justifications for them, support them.

gross

Goldenbear · 20/12/2024 15:09

The "male race currently" - you must be young if you think that some men have not behaved like this in the past. In fact I would argue that things have changed a great deal and in the past, you had all this but you in addition men were much more possessive.

I don't think many women would find it highly pleasurable to queue up with 100 other women to have sex with the same man.

menohnopausal · 20/12/2024 15:10

MemorableTrenchcoat · 20/12/2024 14:57

Sexual intercourse and orgasms are, by design, highly pleasurable. I don’t understand why that statement is controversial.

Do you honestly think it was "highly pleasurable" for the woman? Or is it just the men's pleasure and orgasms that count?

this is it isn’t it and the point they were trying to make with the Pelicot case. These were ordinary men, who do ordinary jobs living ordinary lives.
this is what I try to tell dh and ds. These are your colleagues, your friends, the men you come across every day.
not all men, but they do a good job of appearing normal men

Apparently it was the maximum possible in France. I think it's too low as well.

Hazylazydays · 20/12/2024 15:11

Absolutely no sympathy for Lily Philips, she described herself perfectly, ‘a money making slut.’
Stop making excuses for people like her, she is vile and if her life is ruined she only has herself to blame.
As for Giselle, that’s totally different, she’s a very brave woman to speak out about the abuse.
As for men, I do agree, what is wrong with some men, they are depraved sex addicts, it’s disgusting.

That's exactly what I meant.
I don't work for the prison service but I have had similar experiences via both professional and personal routes
Sadly

Like giselle said
treated like bin bags

DollyTots · 20/12/2024 15:11

It just goes to show whether men are willingly offered the opportunity or not - they’ll just do whatever it is they want to do and I suppose that’s the most hopeless thing I feel about this all.

Lilactimes · 20/12/2024 15:12

I absolutely agree with you @honeypotter - I’ve been feeling exactly the same
In addition to these poor women Gisele and Lily - but also the shootings (often men)
plans to bomb concerts primarily attended by women, stabbing young girls, shooting school children in schools - feels like the XY chromosome is largely responsible and almost waging a war against women and children.. makes me sick..

MemorableTrenchcoat · 20/12/2024 15:12

menohnopausal · 20/12/2024 15:10

Do you honestly think it was "highly pleasurable" for the woman? Or is it just the men's pleasure and orgasms that count?

Do you think she did it for her own sexual gratification, or the hundreds of thousands of pounds she earned from the endeavour? Take a wild guess.

khaitai · 20/12/2024 15:12

Any man having sex with Lily Phillips must have known she was not enjoying it and was suffering through it for the sake of the "challenge". You have to be sick in the head to get pleasure out of having sex with someone who is hating every minute of it. It's one step removed from rape.

What's that joke about not dropping the soap in the prison shower? He may be about to learn a hard lesson about consent.*

*I'm not condoning it, by the way.

Yes. It might not be all men, but it is a lot of men. And social media on the internet is encouraging them to be bolder about it, and the law is doing a crap job of protecting women from these men.

Women have been campaigning about this for a long time and there's not much sign of things getting better.
