To be so disturbed by the male race currently

All the business with Lily Philips - how many men queued up to do what they did to her

And Gisele Pelicot

Are men really that obsessed with sex that they are so desperate to rape and queue up and be solely concerned with their own depraved satisfaction.

I know it's not all men but I'm feeling so disillusioned with men in general and it seems to be getting worse and not better.

Does anyone else feel like this? Also the only people I see posting about Gisele are female.

Where are all the men??

I'm raising boys and to be honest it's terrifying to look at my innocent children and the world they are growing up in.

@Newbutoldfather

But, as I said above, you are looking at a very very rarefied selection of men, self-selected to be reported as it was both criminal and newsworthy. You can’t drew conclusions about men from that, and more than you can about women as one chose to sleep with 100 men in a day for money.

One woman in one country making a particular decision doesn't suggest that many women in the wider population would make that same decision.

Eighty men in one small geographical area (plus hundreds not reporting it) making a particular decision does suggest that many men in the wider population would make the same decision.

I'm confused as to how you accuse others of not understanding statistics but believe that it's more likely the shocking number of men willing to rape in such a small radius of this particular town is an absolute one off than it is that in any given other town there are a higher number of men than we tend to think, who would rape if given the opportunity these men were given.

Agree with this.

Lily's behaviour is highly, highly unusual for women.

The behaviour of the men involved and those in the GP case is not. At. All.

Newbutoldfather · 24/12/2024 12:18

@whathaveiforgotten ,

If the probability of a large number of men being rapists around one small town is one in a million, then the probability of that town existing somewhere in the world is significant.

So, you just can’t say that it is in any way representative of the male population.

TheaBrandt · 24/12/2024 12:29

Err you can though. Why is violent porn so mainstream then?

whathaveiforgotten · 24/12/2024 13:07

@Newbutoldfather

amp.theguardian.com/society/article/2024/jul/23/violence-against-women-national-emergency-england-wales-police

Violence against women and girls is so prevalent that in the UK, this year, it has been declared a national emergency by police chiefs.

Do you believe them?

If so, what is it you're taking issue with? That after the case in France, women have said they believe that an even greater number of men than they previously thought are actually capable of sexual violence?

Or do you not believe that violence against women and girls is a national emergency?

Disturbia81 · 24/12/2024 13:08

Nothing winds me up faster than someone saying "but women do too"

whathaveiforgotten · 24/12/2024 13:27

@Newbutoldfather

In the UK more than 95% of women have experienced sexual harassment.

1 in 30 (798,000 a year) will be sexually assaulted or raped.

Between 2018 and 2023, there was a 37% increase in violent crimes against women and girls.

Last year over one million crimes against women and girls were recorded in England and Wales, constituting 20% of all crimes documented by the police.

Looking at those factual statistics, do you honestly think that women who are fearful of men as a sex class are overreacting or being unreasonably judgemental of men as a sex class?

JHound · 24/12/2024 20:51

The sheer epidemic of violence against women, sexual assault, sexual abuse, rape - no you are not alone OP. There is something really weird when it comes to the Y chromosome and sex. You also see and hear it a lot with abuses committed by soldiers in war zones and the sheer number of abuses linked to aid workers / charities working in impoverished locations.

I also think far more men would sexually abuse women if they knew for a fact they would get away with it.

JHound · 24/12/2024 20:53

MemorableTrenchcoat · 20/12/2024 14:07

The men didn’t do anything to Lily Phillips, they accepted an invitation to indulge in a highly pleasurable and consensual activity with a willing participant.

What’s enjoyable about being part of a long line of men waiting to go and do a few thrusts into a woman and then leave immediately so the next man can “get in” to hit the record?

JHound · 24/12/2024 20:58

TY78910 · 20/12/2024 14:24

I don't understand how Gisele's husband got only 20 years? For 10 years of consistently drugging his wife, then running a rape brothel? Seems a bit low for me

It’s the maximum possible for his crime in France.

JHound · 24/12/2024 21:00

@pensionsums

And, did you not hear Lily say, that a lot of the men did not respect the few boundaries that she had voiced - for example, many of them came on her face / in her eyes, which was meant to be off limits

I agree with everything you said with regards the men who absolutely could not care about what is potentially going through the minds of the woman in front of them because their boner is all they care about - but this point about Lily is so important. It’s disturbing the men who think consent to abc is also consent to xyz even when expressly told not to. It’s sexual assault is what it is.

Nogaxeh · 24/12/2024 21:02

@JHound I also think far more men would sexually abuse women if they knew for a fact they would get away with it.

I think this is one reason so much sexual violence against women and girls is within the family. That gives them a better chance of keeping it private.

Men should feel absolute disgust at the very thought of it, but the sheer numbers of men who treat female consent with contempt is a sign that a shockingly high proportion don't.

JHound · 24/12/2024 21:02

Startinganew32 · 20/12/2024 14:29

So you’re disturbed by men queuing to shag Lily Phillips but not by Lily Phillips herself? WTF is going on that a seemingly intelligent privileged young woman thinks this is a good way to make money?

I think she likely has some form of mental health issues or trauma she is battling with.

Not caring about this just to get your dick wet is disgusting imo.

JHound · 24/12/2024 21:11

SallyWD · 22/12/2024 07:02

I'm not defending the men at all, who are repulsive, in my opinion. But apparently they were allowed to come on her face, and inevitably this meant that some of it went in her eyes. It's a messy business.
Anyway, the whole thing is gross.

She said they were not - it was a boundary she had in place and some chose to ignore it.

JHound · 24/12/2024 21:18

Newbutoldfather · 24/12/2024 07:44

@Nameychangington ,

‘ They ranged from 20s to 50s, in all kinds of jobs and all relationship statuses.’

Not a single job which would be regarded as a profession or which required a high level of education, not one! The Times published the list. So that just isn’t true as a matter of record.

Weren’t some of them teachers, paramedics and other professionals?

Are you talking about the men who raped Gisele or the gross men who queued to have sex with Lily P?

Planesmistakenforstars · 24/12/2024 21:22

JHound · 24/12/2024 21:11

She said they were not - it was a boundary she had in place and some chose to ignore it.

It's particularly disturbing, as they almost certainly chose to ignore it precisely because it was her boundary.

You may as well ask what’s enjoyable about having an orgasm. Um, the orgasm.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 24/12/2024 22:30

Yes but imagine that was your dad/husband/brother/son.

Pretty fucking gross for a man to be so desperate for an orgasm, surely?

Of course it’s fucking gross. But orgasms are pleasurable, which motivated some men to participate. Disgusting, but hardly surprising.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 24/12/2024 23:33

Not all men have such a low bar for pleasure.

It is Not. Normal. To. Get. Off. On. That.

menohnopausal · 24/12/2024 23:35

@MemorableTrenchcoat I would find it highly pleasurable to slap irritating people in the face. I don't do it because it would be wrong and I would feel too much shame about conducting myself poorly.

There is absolutely no way I could fuck someone if I had the faintest inkling that they weren't enjoying it as just as me. I can't understand how you're overlooking what seems like absolute basic decency and self control?

menohnopausal · 24/12/2024 23:38

And actually you're also overlooking the worst thing of all, as I suspect for many of those men it's not just willful ignorance about the woman's lack of genuine pleasure, but they're actively aroused by the fact that she's not enjoying it.

To her, the money.

Thevelvelletes · 25/12/2024 00:03

To debase yourself to that level for money?

Perhaps.

I wonder why so many of our husbands/dads/brothers/sons wanted any part of it? They sound like lovely human beings.
