Bullseye coming back has made me think this .

These are the programs I’d like to see shown again:

Winner Takes All
Generation Game
Punchlines
Krypton Factor
Crackerjack
Ever Decreasing Circles
Terry and June
A Fine Romance
There’s No Place Like Home
3-2-1

I apologise - some programmes above are ‘ones for the teenagers’

Yes he was in it too.

Me and my best friend at school were so obsessed we joined a snooker club (family membership as we were only 13 / 14).

In our art class we were allowed to paint the chairs, the old style wooden ones, so we did a snooker themed one. We then wrote to Jim'll Fix It to try and meet the lovely Paul, thinking our creative efforts would be a golden ticket. Alas, t'was not to be.... 😂

Probably for the best given what we now know 🥺🥺

But I want these programmes properly transmitted on BBC1 and ITV so that we can all kick back , make ourselves a Soda Srrean and make like it’s 1983 🙌

Well, they won't be, because they are old (and, often, shit*) so if you want to watch them, you'll have to make a tiny bit of effort.

(*No Place Like Home? Terry and June? That's My Boy? Not funny then, not funny now.)

cobden28 · 11/12/2024 22:33

I've got a TV set but don't often watch it, as I get most of my entertainment frpm the internet.online now. I'm not keen on sport. soaps, or the reality type programmes that seem to take up a lot of TV screen time,

It's a thread where people are listing shows they would like to see again.

Many apologies for suggesting how you could literally see again the TV shows you said you would like to see again. You're welcome.

Funny, I thought I told you the exact platforms where you could watch the shows you said you wanted to see, although you might like to Google to double check.

Considering there are people on the thread who don't realise some of their "forgotten" shows are on iPlayer, Gold, ITVx and other readily available services, it does indeed seem like they haven't thought to actually look for them.

But carry on listing pretty well remembered older TV shows if it makes you happy...

Dad's Army!
Only Fools and Horses!
Anyone remember Victoria Wood, As Seen on TV?

I hope they take Kizzy off YouTube before you find it, now.

Keeping up appearances , they don't do humour now like they did back then
My family
Birds of a feather

MasterBeth · 11/12/2024 23:47

I think a regeneration of the generation game could definitely work!

Also blockbusters, that was brilliant

A few years ago it was revived with Mel and Sue hosting. I was very keen to watch it since I had fond memories of the original and I really like Mel and Sue.

Unfortunately it was dreadful. Really bad I am sorry to say.

Can’t remember the name of late night gathering drinking round a table, just chat.
The one where a drunken Ollie Reed kissed a reluctant feminist.

After Dark. It was pretty groundbreaking at the time - late 80s. A live chat / discussion show with no end time and no real structured format. There was a general headline topic each week but it often ended up going in various directions.

They just kept broadcasting it till everyone got bored, stopped talking or fell asleep. Not sure anyone would get away with it now.

Crackerjack came back a couple of years ago, it was just as great as the old one!
Would love Krypton Factor to come back too, used to love that. Especially the assault course round

We've just started rewatching Life on Mars - it's like a Christmas tradition now - we start LOM on the 9th of December, watch one episode a night leading up to Christmas Eve and then start Ashes to Ashes on Christmas Day - we've done this for about 8 years now!

We have Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes on DVD and have rewatched a few times. Probably not as often as you though Grin

One of our regular rewatches is Spooks. Still brilliant. I felt series 9 went off a cliff a bit, but series 10 redeemed itself slightly and the film was good. I could watch the lovely Peter Firth till the cows come home!

Life Without George - loved that programme and the theme song

Yes brilliant, I thought I was the only fan.

What was the one on Saturday, live from Norwich with Nicholas Parsons? We used to watch it when we visited my Auntie as we weren't allowed to watch these kind of programmes at home. I can remember sitting through the Money Programme and Songs of Praise on Sunday. 😬

Sale of the Century

bendmeoverbackwards · 12/12/2024 00:27

Great thread. I grew up in the 80s and watched a lot of TV. Loved all the half hour sitcoms, I didn’t find them hilariously funny, but more comforting and soothing.

Friday afternoons it changed from Thames TV to LWT and that was the start of the weekend. Me and My Girl was on then also Play your cards right.

Saturday teatime - Worzel Gummidge and the Muppet Show.

bookworm60 · 12/12/2024 00:34

I’d like to second Hill St Blues, I imagine that it hasn’t aged too badly. Anyone remember McMillan & Wife (Rock Hudson and Susan St James)? Also The Goodies
