Bullseye coming back has made me think this .

These are the programs I’d like to see shown again:

Winner Takes All
Generation Game
Punchlines
Krypton Factor
Crackerjack
Ever Decreasing Circles
Terry and June
A Fine Romance
There’s No Place Like Home
3-2-1

I apologise - some programmes above are ‘ones for the teenagers’

Original versions maybe, not remakes that lose the essence of a show and the era in which it was made.

As an example, remaking The Inbetweeners would be dated because teenage lives are very different as so much is via smartphones.

Exactly Bullseye is a bit disappointing

I just want to make like it’s 1982 !

FYI there's a new Freeview channel (95) called Rewind TV which is showing a variety of vintage tv and films.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 11/12/2024 20:02

Rentaghost please 😊

Recently watched all of "Come back Lucy" on YouTube and it was so different to how I remembered it, but really good for it's time.

Also The Phoenix and the Carpet.

And more grown up choice - Juliet Bravo. Lived for a time near Rawtenstall where alot of it was filmed and the town hadn't changed much in 20 odd years!

MistressoftheDarkSide · 11/12/2024 20:04

Oh and The Duchess of Duke Street!!

Can’t remember the name of late night gathering drinking round a table, just chat.
The one where a drunken Ollie Reed kissed a reluctant feminist.

ilovepixie · 11/12/2024 20:19

Loved the krypton factor.

frogpigdonkey · 11/12/2024 20:21

Am in a hotel and just discovered to my joy the first episode of Bit of a Do was on London Live. A weird childhood favourite!

MistressoftheDarkSide · 11/12/2024 20:25

Oh, Secret Army anyone?

(I'm on a right nostalgia roll here lol 😆)

User14March · 11/12/2024 20:27

@frogpigdonkey Bit of a Do was fab!

Enigma52 · 11/12/2024 20:28

I bloody loved the Generation Game with Bruce, as a kid. However, I did watch a couple of episodes on BBC4, a few months ago and thought " oh crikey, this isn't great!"

Loved crackerjack with Stu!

Juliet Bravo.
Grange Hill.
Lizzy Dripping.

Never understood 321!

User14March · 11/12/2024 20:29

@frogpigdonkey RIP Nicola Pagett who was quite brill in Bit of a Do!

I would pay serious money to be able to watch Due South on a streaming platform. Don't want a remake. Just the actual paul gross Due South. I was off sick for an extended period a few years back and it was on during the daytime but no way to watch if you missed an episode and I've never found it on streaming.

<watched it at an impressionable age and now has a thing for a rule abiding mountie>

frogpigdonkey · 11/12/2024 20:36

@User14March absolutely! Great ensemble cast too 😁😁

I’ll raise you -

Don’t Wait Up
That’s My Boy
Record Breakers
John Craven’s Newsround
Number 73
Bod

ALL on either BBC1 or ITV please ! No obscure digital channels !

I've literally just watched the 1984 Christmas special of Ever Decreasing Circles. Plenty of your list, especially of old sitcoms and dramas, are available.

It shows how desperate you are to watch these shows that you can't even be bothered to find them, even by punching in a slightly higher channel number!

On Britbox/ITVx.

Kids shows I would like to see again

Kizzy
Lizzy Dripping
The Tomorrow People

Kizzy is on YouTube. Think the Tomorrow People is on ITVx/Britbox. Google is your friend.

usernother · 11/12/2024 20:52

I'd like at least another 5 series of Motherland.

And 24 hours in police custody to be on 52 weeks a year.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 11/12/2024 20:54

Does anyone remember Give Us A Break?

My slight crush on Paul McGann started here 😁

I love Motherland, but I feel it should end on a high. Don't flog it to death with predictable scripts as has happened with some comedies.

Think of the comedies you have loved, most only had two or three series.

I met him many years ago and he is as good looking in real life.

Yes he was in it too.

Me and my best friend at school were so obsessed we joined a snooker club (family membership as we were only 13 / 14).

In our art class we were allowed to paint the chairs, the old style wooden ones, so we did a snooker themed one. We then wrote to Jim'll Fix It to try and meet the lovely Paul, thinking our creative efforts would be a golden ticket. Alas, t'was not to be.... 😂

Jumell · 11/12/2024 21:11

But I want these programmes properly transmitted on BBC1 and ITV so that we can all kick back , make ourselves a Soda Srrean and make like it’s 1983 🙌
