Bullseye coming back has made me think this .

These are the programs I’d like to see shown again:

Winner Takes All
Generation Game
Punchlines
Krypton Factor
Crackerjack
Ever Decreasing Circles
Terry and June
A Fine Romance
There’s No Place Like Home
3-2-1

I apologise - some programmes above are ‘ones for the teenagers’

I would agree but I made the mistake of getting very excited to find episodes of Brush Strokes on YouTube and suggesting that teenage DD watched it with me. It really hasn't aged well. I remembered 'Jacko' as being charming, funny and quite a heartbreaker. Turns out that viewed through modern eyes he was a bit of a slimey creep. I couldn't believe that I'd remembered it so differently and wish I'd left the series as a pleasant memory

A Fine Romance is currently being shown on one of the Freeview channels.

Ah thanks !!

Also anything with the actress Irene Handl in it ! She was so of my TV era !

I rewatched all of Howard's Way recently (ITVX). Transported straight back to the 80's ⛵️

MrsSethGecko · 11/12/2024 16:25

I love Irene Handl. Talking Pictures has a lot of old films with her in.

That’s My Boy
Record Breakers
John Craven’s Newsround

As a kid I was desperate to go on Funhouse (another banger of a theme tune) and then as an adult I've always fancied a go at supermarket sweep.

Would love to see the early series of Bread again (she.is.a.tart!), Live & Kicking (with Zoe & Jamie), Lois and Clark, The Upper Hand.

Travelodge · 11/12/2024 16:31

Butterflies!

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 11/12/2024 16:31

@FatLarrysBanned Howards Way is probably semi responsible for the hole in the Ozone layer with all the hairspray they had going on!

I've watched a few oldies. I remember them fondly but watching them now they are largely a load of rubbish as it's hard to not compare to modern day programmes. They were certainly gold viewing in their hey-day

Dontcallmescarface · 11/12/2024 16:34

Hill Street Blues.

@Jumell Sorry OP!
Never seen CPP but if I admit to also liking Butterflies and Man About The House can I stay please? 🙏

Jumell · 11/12/2024 16:36

The Upper Hand is on U&Drama (I think that's the correct one), early evenings.

I want to go back... Back to my youth..

We had the old shows on repeat at random times:
The Good Life, for example, I wanted to be Felicity Kendal and Margo wore some amazing stuff..
Rising Damp... Yes ms Jones..

But we also got Keeping Up Appearances, One Foot In The Grave etc.

American shows at 6pm on BBC2 like Buffy, Due South, Fresh Prince.

Niche shows that no one knew about but the people that loved them like Northern Exposure (if you can hear the theme right now... You won at life)
And American Gothic, that was so good.

70s and 80s shows like Quincy and Quantum Leap were all on.

It was so good..

The The BOMB dropped..
They called it "Reality TV"
And now everything sucks ass or blows hard.
All the old shows don't air anymore, Thier space is taken with cheap mass produced diarrhea about shit I don't give a shite about. Makes me want to puke the 90s all over them.. 😂

Imma dig out my old VHS tapes I recorded back then and revel in the nostalgia.. ah Buffy.. shortest skirts on TV.. but Dr Quinn, I mean, why couldn't I have grown up to look like her and marry Sully? Life just isn't fair..

*Wanders away, muttering about being young again...

YY with bells 🔔 on to practically everything said here …

apart from the fact that my prime era of TV was 1979 to the summer of ‘86 so 90s is after my time !!

@NunyaBeeswax God I loved DQMW, there was nobody in that town she couldn't single handedly fix. Have you seen the French and Saunders take on it, tis very funny.

ItGhoul · 11/12/2024 16:40

Apart from Ever Decreasing Circles, I thought all of those were shit at the time.
