AIBU to think famous women don't look worse because they age, it's because of the surgery.

Not going to name any specific women actors but I was just looking at one of my fave comedians whose just had a face full of fillers and she just didn't look great. She was about the same age as me (early 50s) and my friends and none of them have had anything done, (well maybe a little but it's not obvious if they have), but they all great and I'd be really shocked if any of them started to go down the route of such extreme fillers / botox etc.

I'm not saying I look like I've fallen into the fountain of youth, far from it, but I look, for want of a better word, normal.

I do get there is so much pressure on women in the public eye but after a certain stage of procedures it doesn't make anyone look any younger and just starts to make people look weird.

Some have very good work done.

Nearly all keep fitter and slimmer than the average person as their looks, rightly or wrongly, are their livelihood, and a healthy lifestyle makes a huge difference to your appearance - far more than cosmetics anyway.

Some have loads of work done and an unhealthy lifestyle, and it shows.

@Disturbia81 Me too! Unfortunately it seems to be going the other way and they are getting more and more expensive. And the advice to have them younger (I.e late 40s-50s) is worrying me. I thought I’d save up and have one when I’m 60ish!

That's a shame, I wonder if cheaper alternatives will be available (still facelift) as I've known people who have one say in their mid 50s and it's seen them through all the rest of their lives, no other procedures needed.

My local Nuffield facelifts start at £9,500.

I think usually women look better with just a few fillers or none. But fillers are in fashion so some probably think I look very odd because I don't have fillers.

Anyway why are we scrutinising women's looks in so much detail? It just isn't that important.
