AIBU to think famous women don't look worse because they age, it's because of the surgery.

Not going to name any specific women actors but I was just looking at one of my fave comedians whose just had a face full of fillers and she just didn't look great. She was about the same age as me (early 50s) and my friends and none of them have had anything done, (well maybe a little but it's not obvious if they have), but they all great and I'd be really shocked if any of them started to go down the route of such extreme fillers / botox etc.

I'm not saying I look like I've fallen into the fountain of youth, far from it, but I look, for want of a better word, normal.

I do get there is so much pressure on women in the public eye but after a certain stage of procedures it doesn't make anyone look any younger and just starts to make people look weird.

What messages were we subconsciously taking in from these films!! I still love them but I'll be very wary DD watching stuff from this era. They'll be lots of stopping the film and having a little chat about outdated attitudes.

Pics of Gary Lineker’s ex, Danielle Bux in the papers.
Reminds me of Brandi Glanville. Both were gorgeous.

Gowlett · 12/12/2024 20:39

I remember going to the doctor, aged 35, 9 1/2 stone & saying that I’d better watch my diet. And he agreed, said it was best not to gain any more weight… That’s my low weight now!

uptheculdesac · 12/12/2024 21:55

MJnotMJ · 12/12/2024 11:58

@uptheculdesac that would be her surgery settling down after swelling etc goes and continuing to age I think? If she had a brow lift that settles back down after a while. Re my aging comment I know that might seem odd but changes can occur quickly in some people anytime from late 30’s /40’s. It looks good now it’s back, people with naturally hooded eyes should appreciate the difference (I personally think).

Edited

I too think hooded eyes can look amazing. But there comes a point or some people where the hood becomes so lax that it pushes down on the lashes or even starts to affect vision. Then surgery is understandable

ChanelBoucle · 13/12/2024 00:05

Kate Moss’s upper bleph has made her look almost unrecognisable; her cat-like, slightly hooded eyes were such great features before but now she looks permanently saucer-eyed and stunned.

Daniel Bux was stunning I just don’t understand why she went down the filler route to this extent.

I think it is just a drip drip drip effect, what starts as a bit of botox spirals out of control and people can't see it. I wonder why though when there are photos like those you've posted?! Bux looks like Lesley Ash with those lips.

Less is more. I've no idea if people like Lorraine Kelly or Kate Garraray have injectables but if they do it is a very natural look. They look their age but very good too.

I just don't understand why people want pillow bloated faces with tiny eyes. Anything better than wrinkles eh?

Delatron · 13/12/2024 14:16

The problem is fillers don’t tighten the skin so if you’re an age where the skin is starting to sag - adding volume to that looks awful. That’s why (if you are that way inclined). A facelift is a better option.

Catasleep · 13/12/2024 14:28

Does anyone follow Dr JB Aesthetics on Instagram? He's really good at breaking down what people have had done. I find it fascinating.

I haven't watched Lorraine in years so just googled her now. She does look great, and still looks like herself. I'll have whatever she's had please!

These photos show though exactly what happens to your face as you age. The fat pads slip down and you lose the cheek volume. The dropped fat pads start to create the jowls. Life is a bitch!

Very much agree with this, Daniel Bux looks like her face is full of cement, it actually looks heavy.

Thing is, he looks rather uncanny valley himself. He’s only 30!

@Ladyswhatlunch and @stripeyshutters Danielle Bux just looks like she’s aged to me? Apart from lip filler maybe?

She's clearly had fillers in her cheeks. They stick out much more than before and have that solid look which filled cheeks have, they're abnormally full. When you age your face loses volume and the lower area round the jaw softens and sags, but she doesn't have that, she has the overly filled pillow face look. Plus excessively filled lips.

Gowlett · 13/12/2024 18:16

I met an Aesthetic Practitioner recently, at an event & although I knew she wasn’t young, I really couldn’t say what age she was (same age as me?) but it always looks strange, as the husband usually looks like a regular middle-aged guy. She was studying my face intensely, I’ve had nothing done!

Hooded eyes, yes agree that Kate Moss looks startled. Gwyneth’s eye job has finally settled down, but I don’t think she needed it. The worst case I’ve seen is Mel B. She looks totally different, her eye shape was unique. She did it after her horrible divorce, she really didn’t need it. A real shame…

And she is only 45 as well, the procedures she has had certainly have not made her look younger, in fact I think it’s aged her.

I agree but I wonder why the celebs aren't choosing that option as they can afford it. Unless they're doing both

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 14/12/2024 07:45

Nicole Kidman’s face is expressionless.

I don’t think Danielle Bux is doing both. It looks like a combination of natural ageing (most of us will start to get skin laxity in our mid 40s) then if you don’t do any tightening procedures and add too much filler to that - that’s when it doesn’t look good. The dodgy lips filler/work in that area doesn’t help.

Facelifts will be £35k plus. The celebs going to the top guys will pay £200k plus. Nothing to them but Z listers may not want to pay that.

Maybe if you’re strategic with filler and do lots of other skin tightening treatments (Morpheus 8, Ultherapy etc) you can get away with it. The journalist Alice Hart Davies looks good and she has had filler (she’s late 50 no facelift). It can be done but it’s sooo hard to get right.

Disturbia81 · 14/12/2024 08:46

@Delatron Ahh thanks makes sense. I didn't realise how expensive they were still, I was hoping they'd be cheaper by now 😂

Delatron · 14/12/2024 09:04

@Disturbia81 Me too! Unfortunately it seems to be going the other way and they are getting more and more expensive. And the advice to have them younger (I.e late 40s-50s) is worrying me. I thought I’d save up and have one when I’m 60ish!

stripeyshutters · 14/12/2024 09:26

One of the reasons the cheeks get overfull is because filler is used to try to lift up the face below and around the mouth area.
