Just that really.

What kind of things do they like in general? Have they got good stamina ? I suppose it depends how they live their lives. Would love some feedback on things like -

kind of things they’d like to receive for birthdays /Xmas

music they like?

in case someone’s asking - I’ve got a little crush 🤣

The Cornetto Trilogy
Likes to bore on about History
Retro trainers

I'll come back if I think of anything else.

Surprisingly, not all men are one homogenous group.
Some 56 yr old may want a pipe and slippers, some a golf present, gardening, dangerous sports, academic, arty, cultural, travel, meditation, walking
They are as varied as women, so unless you know the person reasonably well, don't bother!

JanglingJack · 05/12/2024 08:16

56 year old man likes football.

Do you happen to know the team?

Maybe he likes tailored suits and expensive shoes.

Maybe he likes shorts and flip flops.

Maybe he likes dresses.

Maybe he likes men.

The post that can never be answered 🤣

JanglingJack · 05/12/2024 08:20

Boobs.

blackwithlight · 05/12/2024 08:21

Why does these threads keep coming up?!!! Why do you get people think 50 plus people stop being individuals but all like the same things?!!!

OP, you have a crush on a man you apparently know nothing about but his age???

Worse than that, you think his age determines all else about him???

When I fancied my colleague I knew exactly what gifts he liked as I fancied HIM, as a person I actually knew.

Most of the ones on online dating seem to like women younger than themselves.

Your post suggests that you are, so I'd say you're in there OP!

This, and they all like climbing Pen Y Fan, owning high energy dogs, working in the city and their "kids are my world and will always come first"

GuppytheCat · 05/12/2024 08:27

Of the two I know best, one likes mountaineering and taxidermy, the other likes baroque music and swimming. Not sure that's going to help you much!

Jumell · 05/12/2024 08:28

I just thought he might appreciate a nice Radox bubble bath ! 😊

OP posts:
Jumell · 05/12/2024 08:29

I can’t tell if the radox comment is a joke, but on the off chance it isn’t, please don’t get anyone radox bubble bath as a gift..

FlyingFlapjack · 05/12/2024 08:30

The Damned are not heavy metal.

Ok but why ? Thought it would be inoffensive!

DH is 56. He likes (in no particular order).

Cooking
Formula 1.
Beer
Rugby
Family time.
DIY tools.
Drinking fizzy drinks (doesn't drink hot drinks).
Queen
80's music.

Y’see, my DH doesn’t like:

Cooking
Beer
Rugby
Drinking fizzy drinks
Queen.

He likes:

Tea (drinks gallons of it).
Football.
Music (he’s a musician).
Dogs.
Films.
Travel.

So what you’d get for one 56 year old, may not suit another!

The classic cars are interesting...especially when they are done and MOT'ed! He's fixed up a Humber sceptre, and now is doing up his granddad's Sunbeam Rapier. Also renovated a Stiletto. He does them up, drives them a bit, gets bored and sells them, and moves to the next. But his grandad's he'll keep.

I personally find bath stuff to be something you give people when you can’t think of anything else. On top of that, radox is a daily brand as opposed to something a bit more luxurious which is what I’d go for if I was gifting something.

can I ask how old you are? You sound very young

PollyPaulina · 05/12/2024 08:35

Are you much younger or just never dated that age? I'm curious about your crush.

Well, DH is 56 and his sexual stamina has been declining from about 40. He is fit, nonsmoker no chronic disease but likes a drink. Sexual stamina depends on your chap's health and lifestyle.
As far as interests, he is still into the same things he always were, listens to and watches the same things of his youth.
Get your crush something that reminds him of his childhood or teen years.

My DH is very charming to new women but he is increasingly a grumpy old man at home. He's very done it all seen it all what's the point. But some men are chasing adventures and partying in ibiza and tokyo at this age... i suspect they are the exception though.

Ginmonkeyagain · 05/12/2024 08:39

Mr Monkey is a 55 year old man and likes, in no particular order:

Marathon running
Travel
Expensive Japanese denim
House music
Hip Hop
Music festivals
Fancy beer
Crisps
Parkrun
Watching youtube videos of people talking about trainers
Football (playing and watching)
Going to the pub
Bagels
Stewart Lee
Late 1980s New York art (Basquiat, Hareing etc..)

I'll let you know if when he turns 56 he becomes all about garden centres and M&S cords.

HeChokedOnAChorizo · 05/12/2024 08:42

My DP is 56, he loves -

Classic cars
Music (mostly 80s)
Football

and thats about it, stamina wise he is very fit as he has a physical job, i know he sounds boring but hes not. I am crazy about him 😍

GinToBegin · 05/12/2024 08:42

If you know the football team he supports, you could get a replica shirt for the season he was born. (Assuming he’d wear something like that.)

if he wears shirts with cufflinks, you can get sixpence cufflinks for a specific year.

Or a multi-pocket/section small bag for his travels.

DH is 59. Not obsessively, but fit for his age, walking, cycling locally and can walk up a 25% gradient hill for 20 mins without stopping (unless he had me with him as I have to take what I call 'view breaks'). Mines like lager, wine and southern comfort. Enjoys horse racing, reading and 80s music. As mine likes horse racing and horses, he'd appreciate smaller things coasters/pens relating to horses or I'd look on his teams website to see if there are any gifts.

Warning, mine has got grumpier in the last couple of years (luckily not with me)😂
