To die on this pathetic hill? Neighbour related.

Semi detached. Neighbours are dicks. They are the type to cut their tree and throw it over my side of the fence, specially tell their work men to park over my drive. They’ve done so much more but it’s generally small petty things like that but it builds up.

Our front doors are on the side of the house and we have bay windows facing the front onto the street with a gap in between. This gap is small and definitely where the boundary line is. They have now started using this area to store their bin - so that it’s pressed up against my window.

I’m just so fed up of it that I’ve started googling fences. I can’t go talk to them because there is no reasoning with them.

If there is no fence there put one up.

Mothermummymum · 29/11/2024 13:42

100% put up a fence and plant hedging too

BeMintBee · 29/11/2024 13:45

Screw them and put a fence up

Allmarbleslost · 29/11/2024 13:47

I would ask them to move their bins and if they refuse the bins would mysteriously disappear overnight, never to be seen again.

Ablondiebutagoody · 29/11/2024 13:52

The boundary is obvious. Stick a low fence up, doesn't even need to go the full length of garden

Rumors1 · 29/11/2024 13:53

Could you put a planter in there that only covers your half, its cheaper than a fence but would make the space too small for their bins? Or actually maybe they would just park the bin in front of the planter.

Theonlywayisuptoyou · 29/11/2024 13:54

They are truly batshit, happy to have a bin squashed in beside their own window just to piss you off, as long as there is no restriction on fences at the front of your house go for it. If the space belongs equally to you both you could just move their bin out of your bit, so angle it against the corner of their window.

IamnotSethRogan · 29/11/2024 13:55

Kick them over every day

Zimunya · 29/11/2024 13:55

Some people are just chancers, aren't they? Yes, small fence if you can afford it, otherwise planter on your half.

RabbitsEatPancakes · 29/11/2024 13:56

I would move their bin everyday. In front of their window or up the road so they have to fetch it. They'll stop soon enough.

Also get a fence and maybe small tree in a pot so you don't have to see them.

heldinadream · 29/11/2024 13:59

Put the fence up. Job done. Not a pathetic hill to die on at all. They are behaving badly. They can't argue with a fence.

EdgeofSeventy · 29/11/2024 14:05

I would be tempted to glue the bin lid shut, then put a fence up

Sidebeforeself · 29/11/2024 14:08

Move the bin . Every time.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 29/11/2024 14:11

Someone else's stinky ass bin under my window. Nope. I would move it every day. And then put a fence up.

tuesfsytuesfay · 29/11/2024 14:12

Thank you, I was worried I’d be told to get a grip. They are just so infuriating, like just stop doing weird petty shit. I leave my bins on my property. I wouldn’t have ever shoved my bin in that corner against their window.

It’s not even under my window .. the bay is quite low down. So I now have a lovely view of a third of their bin shoved up against it.

God that would give me the rage how disgusting of them. I would put the fence up definitely not petty! This was petty and anyone who knows me will instantly know who I am from this! We don't get on with our neighbours, they kept standing on our garden to load their car boot and stamping all the grass down making it a muddy mess, I put some plant pots on that bit, she moved them!!! so a friend made us a huge pot with long legs that we sunk into the ground there is no way she is moving that. It was empty for a couple of days and they randomly chucked a party blower into it, once I filled it with soil I put the party blower in the middle as a little sparkly feature.

WeAllHaveWings · 29/11/2024 14:49

Nip it in the bud. Speak to them and tell them to move it off your land. If they won't you move it every time in front of their window, if it continues put up a barrier, if they remove the barrier concrete one in.

You need to get it fixed now as in the summer you'll be having a fly problem as it is too near your window.

billybear · 29/11/2024 15:14

b and q bank in black metal post with pieces that slot in i got it for my front open plan lawn stopped the little kids riding their bikes over it or a couple of heavy planters

MatildaTheCat · 29/11/2024 18:28

Do all of the above but firstly throw in a bag of rotting food and some fresh maggots. Then place very firmly on their own land.

Cavalierchaos · 29/11/2024 19:14

I would start with putting a long planter there, that juts out just as a fence would, but only on your side of course. Then see what they do.

getsomehelp · 30/11/2024 08:48

Have you actually told them to stop leaving their bins on your property?
If ignored, someone might accidentally to empty their trash on their front lawn

olympicsrock · 30/11/2024 08:54

This is a hill to die on ….

Fraaahnces · 30/11/2024 08:57

I’d be getting a fence like in the Shawshank Redemption. Fuck them.

DisforDarkChocolate · 30/11/2024 09:00

If you can't put up a narrow fence or railings get a heavy planter and put it on your half of the gap.plant something spikey in it.
