To die on this pathetic hill? Neighbour related.

Semi detached. Neighbours are dicks. They are the type to cut their tree and throw it over my side of the fence, specially tell their work men to park over my drive. They’ve done so much more but it’s generally small petty things like that but it builds up.

Our front doors are on the side of the house and we have bay windows facing the front onto the street with a gap in between. This gap is small and definitely where the boundary line is. They have now started using this area to store their bin - so that it’s pressed up against my window.

I’m just so fed up of it that I’ve started googling fences. I can’t go talk to them because there is no reasoning with them.

I would be tempted to glue the bin lid shut, then put a fence up

Pmsl

Thank you, I was worried I’d be told to get a grip. They are just so infuriating, like just stop doing weird petty shit. I leave my bins on my property. I wouldn’t have ever shoved my bin in that corner against their window.

No, they are being arseholes, you don't put you bin so near to your neighbour's window! Fence, wall, meanwhile some huge heavy plant pots. X

ElsaGreen · 13/12/2024 18:46

Fence and also security camera to cover your property.

SliceoCakeAuntSally1 · 13/12/2024 20:21

Put your rubbish in their bin! Well it must be your bin as it’s on your property.

God that would give me the rage how disgusting of them. I would put the fence up definitely not petty! This was petty and anyone who knows me will instantly know who I am from this! We don't get on with our neighbours, they kept standing on our garden to load their car boot and stamping all the grass down making it a muddy mess, I put some plant pots on that bit, she moved them!!! so a friend made us a huge pot with long legs that we sunk into the ground there is no way she is moving that. It was empty for a couple of days and they randomly chucked a party blower into it, once I filled it with soil I put the party blower in the middle as a little sparkly feature.

Aren't they thick !!!!

LookItsMeAgain · 14/12/2024 10:25

How are things going with the fence @tuesfsytuesfay ? Any interactions with the neighbours since it was installed? Hopefully it's be very peaceful since then.

The update no one asked for 😂. I’m just too happy not to post.

So it got worse (despite me not doing anything and not even moving their bin shoved against my window) they started creeping their other bins further onto my drive.

Fence panel is here and is currently being fitted, their bins have been moved onto their driveway and they aren’t at home, so nice little treat for them when they get home.

Also I checked the boundary and they recently had their driveway done (maybe a year ago) and I didn’t realise that they’d planted a row of tiny stone on my side. Honestly they are dicks.

I would find out the legalities of the stones on your part of the property. Is there adverse possession in the UK? Could they say, in some amount of years that it's been there so long that it's now their part of the property?

They sound like twat waffles, and you may end up needing to be firm. But, I would remove stones on your property. If branches, etc., show up on your side, just toss them back over. They just enjoy being azzhats and glory in getting away with shit.

It’s really not that deep 😂

They are just dicks that are chancers. I believe they shoved a bin against my window because it made more room on their driveway, and didn’t give a shit that it impacted my view, was partly on my property and would have been really disgusting in the summer.

No one is getting lawyers involved or claiming land from some pebbles that have been lying there for a year.

Just a small update, they’ve now decorated the dividing hedge and singular fence panel with Christmas lights. I think this is their third Christmas here and they’ve never put lights on the hedge before …

I’ve not been feeling well so made a little bed on the sofa with tea and watching films and the amount of times they’ve been out on their driveway is utterly bizarre. There’s absolutely nothing I can do but urgh it makes me feel so uncomfortable

If they have attached anything to your fence, then cut it off.

If they whine about it, simply state its YOUR fence and you dont want festive tat attached to it.

comewhinewith · 15/12/2024 16:14

I'd be tempted to get a ring doorbell/extra camera set up to cover the front of your house/garden in case they try anything else. They sound a bit odd.

Florol · 15/12/2024 16:53

Yeah get a Ring, this will let them know you are watching them 👀

Jimjamssy · 15/12/2024 17:01

Get a video door bell.
Tell them you do not want anything on your fence.
Get a camera for your back garden too.
They are fly tipping in your garden.

Stormyweatheroutthere · 15/12/2024 17:05

How far is the fence from their window? Put your own lights hanging over their side. Flashing ones....

8misskitty8 · 15/12/2024 17:41

Remove the lights from your fence.
If they are hanging about the drive looking at you give them a sarcastic wave or the finger.

Edited

My “front” door is at the side, I only have a bay window at the front: I do already have a security camera on the driveway

I thought the fence was high enough that they couldn't see you from their driveway and you also couldn't see them?

Would be terrible if you came down with a fever and needed to lie there starkers. That'd give them a surprise 🤣

Alternatively, one way privacy film. Let them wonder!

Quitelikeit · 15/12/2024 19:06

So do you think they are quite happy that you have done it or do you think they can’t quite believe it?

OriginalUsername2 · 15/12/2024 19:24

It sounds like they’re just putting out lights, nothing sinister..?

I thought this too and am a bit confused now?!

I thought the fence was high enough that they couldn't see you from their driveway and you also couldn't see them?

It is, but there’s a hedge there too, and there’s gaps in the hedge.

The fence was put it to stop them putting the bin next to my window and had the added bonus that they wouldn’t be able to stare into my window because they decide to park diagonally. It’s stopped this.

And I noticed them today not just walking by the hedge but being by it for ages and then later putting lights on it - which they’ve never done before. Just seems an odd coincidence that they’ve done this for the first time and it’s quite late in December now.

I’m not going to bother posting updates anymore. I’d not having comments made that are subtly trying to hint I’m making this up.
