There's a world of morons out there. They'd be screaming blue murder about waste if Starmer said ' oh alright then folks , let's spin the wheel again '.

Remember when the Internet was going to save democracy?

Nic834 · 25/11/2024 13:51

EasternStandard · 25/11/2024 13:46

@Nic834 polls will show general sentiment

Labour have lost their lead now and answering 'How is the UK faring under Labour?'

70% said worse and only 8% better

These threads are more pro Labour than that and don't really reflect the polling

Thanks that’s interesting!

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/11/2024 13:51

Idiots. Thats not how it works

EasternStandard · 25/11/2024 13:52

@itsgettingweird I've put info about the data, you've got it wrong there. No point spreading misinformation in your pp

as for 'fighting against Labour'

I didn't realise mn meant you had to be 'pro Labour'. I'm not surprised at how badly they're doing though.

You keep pushing for them I care not either

Thegoatliesdownonbroadway · 25/11/2024 13:54

I want my winter fuel allowance back. I didn't vote Labour for that. I voted labour to be rid of my local Tory MP.

I like Daisy Cooper. I would vote Lib Dem if we get another election.

Your link says;

The donation covered the cost of hiring a marquee, Portaloos, waiting staff, flowers, a South African BBQ and an ice cream van.

Yes.. I'm not sure the point you're making.

Alphaalga · 25/11/2024 14:00

People have had a rude awakening finding out how the tories have been asset-stripping the country.

Now they want to pin the blame on the new government that have exposed all the lies the tories and their media dogs have been gaslighting them with for decades about "trickle down" and "we're all in it together" economic hogwash -on top of ideological austerity in lieu of infrastructural investment - instead of looking past the ends of their noses and pointing the finger at those responsible.

Know what democracy's biggest enemy is? Gullibility.

There wasn't an extra £12,500 worth of food for the wedding - you are mistaken.

Maybe the Daily Mail would work better for you:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11193533/Boris-Johnson-gets-Tory-donor-pay-23-000-wedding-celebration.html

But the JCB chairman did not only provide the venue. The register of MPs' financial interests revealed today that Lord and Lady Bamford picked up the £23,000 cost of the lavish celebration.

MP's don't have to declare the use of grounds and property of private individuals, so it was understandable why he didn't declare it. Labour chose to declare the use of grounds and property, which Starmer was vilified for (use of flat during the election period / GCSE exam period), which is why this was highlighted.

Boris Johnson gets Tory donor to pay for his £23,000 wedding bash

The former PM and wife Carrie invited friends and family to the opulent home of JCB owner Lord Bamford in the Cotswolds in July to officially mark their May 2021 wedding.

So at least a £40k wedding then 🙄

Yes, I realise my confusion there. The £12.5k was food delivered to Boris & Carrie during lockdown.

I believe the Johnsons paid cost price for the food so the benefit was less than £12,500.

In any case, Starmer received well over £100,000 in hospitality and gifts when he claimed to have 'nothing in common with Boris Johnson'.

I am talking about ONE instance. It was also followed by a free suite at a Heathrow hotel the night before their honeymoon for £1800 but I didn't include that. And this wasn't "hospitality", this was someone paying for his entire wedding. Someone who's son also got a £12.7m Government contract.

Can you screenshot the praise - your images are from 2016. Presumably 'Peter Sweden' hasn't signed the petition - he appears to be a Swedish journalist not based in the UK.

Are we not counting Starmer's free luxury flat accommodation, designer clothes and glasses then?

I think the problem is the tories being corrupt isn’t a defence for labour to do the same

if anything it’s worse as we’ve had years of them being outraged and banging on
turns out there all cut from the same cloth every week there’s seedy revelations coming out

There is no corruption when it is all declared

It's sadly demonstrates that people are a bit thick and don't understand how democracy works. Loads of the people signing it aren't even in or from the UK it's just all a bit embarrassing.

This. 👏🏽

Hence my comment about not having to actually declare use of a flat.

Can I ask how that differs from Boris' clothes, wallpaper, furniture, housing etc? That is all. I understand that ALL mp's are going to make use of their donors money, but people all up in arms about Starmer using a flat during his childs GCSE's / during the election period seem to have very short memories.
