I mean, I very much doubt this will get anywhere in the parliament but nearly 2 mil people signed it in just over 24 hours 😬

There is no corruption when it is all declared

Wasn't the disclosure handily after the election? The electorate weren't best pleased when they found out that Mr Squeaky Clean had pulled a fast one on them.

DuncinToffee · 25/11/2024 14:05

This guy is being praised by Musk for supporting this petition

Musk has been amplifying the voices of the far right for some time now, so it doesn't surprise me.

DuncinToffee · 25/11/2024 14:57

Clavinova · 25/11/2024 14:55

Which bit shows Musk praising 'Peter Sweden' for supporting the petition?

If you sign the petition, this is the kind of people who are encouraging you to do so

The guy is Swedish - thank goodness we left the EU!

?

Did you sign the petition by any chance?

I think the problem is the tories being corrupt isn’t a defence for labour to do the same

if anything it’s worse as we’ve had years of them being outraged and banging on
turns out there all cut from the same cloth every week there’s seedy revelations coming out

Personally, if it was my child that had been sitting his exams I would have taken any offer of better accommodation for him. I really can't judge someone for doing the best by their kids what so ever.

And I didn't vote labour, so I don't have any money in this as it were. But A LOT of what I have read really does seem to come down to racism. Starmers big donor is Muslim. Boris' wasn't.

It was declared within the 28 days.

As he was trying to limit his sons contact with the hoards of press, he was unlikely to make a statement saying where they were staying!

Clavinova · 25/11/2024 15:00

JusteanBiscuits
Can I ask how that differs from Boris' clothes, wallpaper, furniture, housing etc? That is all.

It doesn't (although Johnson reimbursed the cost of the furniture and wallpaper) - however Starmer claimed to be the polar opposite of Boris Johnson.

Littlemissgobby · 25/11/2024 08:55

I have seen the proof online. You can see who is signing it and it’s not from Britain. There is people that have signed it from different parts of the world and it’s definitely not Britain. I do not believe these are British people in far flung places either

Where did you see the proof? I'd love to have a look at it.

louddumpernoise · 25/11/2024 15:01

Meaningless waffle, there wont be a GE until 2029 - do you not support the changes in law and training to tackle drinks spiking? the curbs on the excess profits companies managing childrens services?

9400 asylum seekers deported since July? the Conservatives deported a few 100 in their last year in office & that would be 9 times the number Rwanda was going to take in the first year!

Changes to business rates will help smaller businesses too. Water company bosses stopped from taking bonuses, the work shy to face sanctions!

Everything i ve listed could also have been since Sunak became PM but it didn't.

We ve a 5 year electoral cycle, with a majority of over 100, that wont change.

Well, I wanted to see what everyone here thinks of it. I like how sometimes I can read a very well educated and challenging view, something I haven’t thought of myslelf. To be honest, I find the point at which our society is now very worrying. Like a pressure cooker with its lid on. Everyone is highly polarised and media is constantly fuelling this division. There’s never anything good about what’s happening, always pointing fingers and throwing accusations.
the reason I linked the petition is because sometimes seeing it is better than describing.

I don't think people are polarised about this. I don't know anyone who's praising this government, and that's across multiple age groups. voting groups and ethnicities. The miracle that's happened is that Starmer appears to have united the country!

EasternStandard · 25/11/2024 15:10

In a recent poll 70% think we are faring worse under Labour, only 8% think it's better. Presumably the pro Labour pp would be in the latter but these mn threads are no where near reflecting that result.

Plus the CBI are talking of betrayal and negative impact of policies today.

Artistbythewater · 25/11/2024 15:14

We are obviously faring worse, because what Labour have managed to do is produce a worst of all worlds scenario.

We narrowly missed a recession, but we are unlikely to avoid one next year if things continue like this - due to them constantly talking the country and economy down, and taking such poor decisions. They are slaughtering small businesses and old people. No one voted for this!!

Yes but like minded people tend to flock together as folks i know vary some like me think give them time and the tories have no leg to stand on especially to the cbi kemi badenoch not realising what her gov did over last 14 years yes I saw that today.
Maybe some people like me are not sheep and don't get pumped full of crap like this stupid petition regretted by reform abd their ilk designed to make peope think we want a general election now.
Maybe if more time was put in following tweets like Richard time who said elon musk will havd a great influence over our politics . Hang on this is the same party that didn't want foreign interference maybe we are all being manipulated to hate strarmer from Russian bots to

33% satisfied with Starmer, compared to less than 25% happy with Badenoch - Ipsos poll.

But the way some pro tories are banging on, you'd think the next GE was in 5 weeks time, not 5 years 😂

senua · 25/11/2024 15:17

We've a 5 year electoral cycle, with a majority of over 100, that wont change.
But the Leader of the Party / Prime Minister can be changed ...
A quick google tells me that the Labour Party are on 34% popularity with KS, personally, on 8 points lower than that at 26%.

BeardofHagrid · 25/11/2024 15:17

I signed it. Starmer is vile x

Gruttenberg · 25/11/2024 15:17

For anyone doubting the numbers, these figures have been extracted from the json at about 2.30 pm today. They show that 99.27% of the votes are from the UK an 0.73% from the rest of the World. I totalled up the columns individually, but you can see the grand total matches the screenshot I took at the time.
If you want to look at the JSON data yourself you can do that by clicking the hyperlink Get Petition Data which you can see at the bottom of the web screenshot. Obviously you need to do this on the petition website!

EasternStandard · 25/11/2024 15:19

@Littlemissgobby polls don't work like that, they don't put 'like minded people together'

They poll a cross section and 70% think it's worse. 8% think as you do.

Whatever you feel about your belief in their success it's not great for Labour

The CBI have added their voice against today too.

And what do you expect to happen? Because 6 million people sign the petition to overflow the referendum because they wanted to stay in the EU. Guess what did that f* happen? No, do you actually think they're going to debate this because they're not going to debate this hate to break it to you people on the right. I did not vote for the Conservative Party. We had fourteen years of that s** show welcome to democracy

9400 asylum seekers deported since July?

Do you have a link to that data?

9,400 asylum seekers or a mixture of asylum seekers, visa over stayers and voluntary returns? Why are Labour opening up new asylum hotels?

the Conservatives deported a few 100 in their last year in office

Some stats here:

In the year ending June 2024 there were 7,190 enforced returns
In the year ending June 2024 there were 22,361 voluntary returns

In the year ending June 2024, 25% of enforced and voluntary returns were asylum-related.

Actually, I did here on the radio that they actually had deported a few people, labour, and even the journalist said they're not shouting about it, because they are getting on with politics. The fact is, they also are doing lots of different things that are going to becoming through soon. I keep saying, give these a chance. We have too much right-wing press. In this country. It's far obvious to me that we all be manipulated to hate labour, yet they forgave the tories, almost everything, it's sickening, how disgustingly undemocratic this country is

EasternStandard · 25/11/2024 15:25

@Littlemissgobby I know how you feel about Labour but not everyone shares that view. You're also likely not in one of the groups impacted by their terrible policies

Many are - hence the polls, petition and CBI statement

louddumpernoise · 25/11/2024 15:25

The CBI have added their voice against today too

they ve just said this morning that they aren't ready to back the Tories yet either.
