The question is, why do the BBC protect these misogynists? There whole safe guarding department needs binning.

It's all one big boys club I expect.

@Eraserbread thank you 😊

I recall Lisa Faulkner getting loads of stick in the DM comments, a couple of weeks ago… She was right.

Scully01 · 28/11/2024 19:02

Has anyone posted his interview on his daily routine where he only spends 1.5 hours a day with his son? He came across so badly in this:

For what was she getting stick?

she’s married to that pillock JT and he’s a grumpy Tosser who also loves himself and treated his ex appallingly. Hate the way she fawns over him ‘my Jonno’ and he sits there with his miserable sulky face just lapping it up.

What about the bit where he says 'we needed some help around the house (cos he sends so much time exercising and gaming that he hasn't got time to life a finger) SO HE MOVED HIS MOTHER IN LAW in....

Usual Daily Mail types saying she needs to shurrup!

Same ones will be on, slagging off GW this week…

That was to @ButteryBizkitBase but I see that post has been removed by mn.

IIRC so far this year it's been Huw Edwards, Jermaine Jenas and now Gregg so I'm just wondering whose next. And I expect there are some rather anxious BBC presenters thinking the same thing...

And not that long ago, John Barrowman for (what seems like) similarly hilarious "banter!" 🙄

I know Russell Brand was given the boot several years ago but he was on the beeb for years despite continued (and known about) perverted behaviour.

@NigelHarmansNewWife Actually I have. But I don't see a lewd joke as sexual harassment because it's not. Shit, I'd have been in trouble years ago.

Context is key.

Telling a lewd joke to your mate who you've known donkeys years and is quite happy with that sort of thing, in private...

Vs

Telling a lewd joke to a young woman who is perhaps very junior to you, theres a power imbalance there... it's likely to make her feel uncomfortable, perhaps the point is to make her feel uncomfortable...but the teller can always backpedal and say 'well I was only joking... I didn't meaaaaaaan anything by it'...

Thats not the same sort of thing at all!

Birdscratch · 28/11/2024 19:22

The more public action is taken against people and the more complaints are shown to be taken seriously, the more people will come forward to complain.

We were in a place where women didn’t feel they would be believed or taken seriously (or that it would damage their careers) if they came forward with complaints about sexual assault. Then we’ve seen allegations of physical and verbal assault start to be investigated. Now creating a hostile working environment is being addressed. It’s progress.

awaynboilyurheid · 28/11/2024 19:27

Knew he was creepy! Why do the BBC pay theses talentless idiots, he’s not even a chef! They seriously need to look at who they think the public like, it’s like oooh the plebs must like him so they put him on even more shows, when Monica is far far superior.

The Russell Brand thing doesn't surprise me, after all the carried on paying HE even AFTER they knew what he was being charged with. Ratings are king and after that they really don't care.

OswaldCobblepot · 28/11/2024 19:31

Its always baffled me how he's had such a long career in TV. An annoying, talentless greengrocer. Terry Wogan used to call him "the costermonger" 😆

I think he’s very good at discerning individual flavours in food, but in every other way I find Gregg loathsome and decidedly creepy. As for John’s enormous gob and Marcus’ blatant rudeness…

Monica is a shining star!

Please don't anyone tell me anything bad about the late great Terry Wogan.

The BBC did have some decent presenters in its time.

TheGander · 28/11/2024 19:42

I’m conflicted . On the one hand he has sailed very close to the wind and appears somewhat tone deaf, he’s had warnings and just carried on his merry way. On the other hand some of the hate directed at him seems a bit like class based snobbery to me- how dare a loud uncouth working class man monopolise so much viewing time?

FilthyBass · 28/11/2024 19:44

Loads of BBC employees are talentless.

Gregg was alright he's just told a few bawdy jokes 12 years ago. You cant judge the past by todays standards. The line to be crossed was in a different place back then.

Gosh yes - I loved Terry Wogan, would be very upset if I heard something bad about him....
