gives you the ick?

It seems very popular on Mumsnet. Do you stay in the ones you slept in or shower and put on fresh ones?

Dress andn nice jewellery my family are photo takers!

SpringleDingle · 21/11/2024 09:01

No - I'm a soft leggings and fluffy jumper girl! My DD lives in her pjs though!!

freshlaundrysmell · 21/11/2024 09:03

"To be honest I never believe anyone who says they have a shower and then put on a clean power pyjamas for the day."

Why? what a bizarre thing to disbelieve.

I have a shower and then wear loungewear. I spend most of my time at work and wear business attire so it's bliss to be able to relax in my time off. Not quite sure what's so unbelievable about that 🙄

TwistedWonder · 21/11/2024 09:03

Sneering at anyone wanting a day in pjs as lazy - Aren’t we all entitled to a lazy sloth day now and again?

And rather than this being ‘only on MN’ it’s quite common in my friends group to have a PJ Sunday every so often with absolutely no guilt

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 21/11/2024 09:06

No pyjamas, thanks. I’m usually cooking so will wear something cheerfully festive looking, so probably red, but that won’t be ruined by the inevitable splash from the roasting tin. Somewhere there’s a Christmas apron with robins on, but either I forget or can’t find it on the day.

Parker231 · 21/11/2024 09:07

Notyouthful · 21/11/2024 06:56

I do not like the family wearing the same PJs. This never happened before insta.

Stop copying celebs. Be yourselves.

We don’t all wear the same pj’s as we have a theme competition- it’s our family favourite tradition. I have the photos going back 20 years.

OneGreenOrca · 21/11/2024 09:08

Everyone can wear what they want, eat what they want, at what time they want, open their presents at what time they want or not have presents at all if they want on any day of the year, including Christmas day.

And people who don't do the same are not weird or inferior so let's stop the judgment and the name-calling.

If you want to dress up do so. If you don't, don't.

There's literally no need to negatively judge people who don't do the same as you when you're talking about such insignificant actions and behaviours.

NerrSnerr · 21/11/2024 09:15

I agree with the posters about the sneering. People who are genuinely happy with their life and choices don't feel the need to sneer at others for something so daft as what they choose to wear in their own homes. Words like 'slobbing' etc.

I know people think it makes them look superior but it just makes them look like Hyacinth Bucket.

aCatCalledFawkes · 21/11/2024 09:34

I know people who do it and that's absolutely fine for them but its not for me. I would just prefer to dress up for Christmas lunch.

I agree - some posters have forgotten that we all have different ways of celebrating - some are long standing family traditions - I wouldn’t change ours for anyone.

CurlewKate · 21/11/2024 09:53

@PaminaMozart "but there's no way I'd accept people coming to the table in sleep attire."

I could guess that from your use of the term "sleep attire"!🤣

Yes, it's actually quite amusing. Cant imagine getting all frothed up about something that doesnt affect me in the slightest 😂

I just peg these people as not getting laid at the minute.

I agree. I don't care what other people do, but it isn't for me. I don't wear pyjamas for a start, but I usually wear joggers/leggings in the house with a t-shirt or jumper depending on the weather.

I do like to dress up a bit for Christmas day because it makes the day feel a bit more special. None of my clothes are uncomfortable BTW.

Oh dear. That’s pretty unnecessary.

gamerchick · 21/11/2024 10:01

Although I do admit when this thread crops up every single year that I find it weird when people describe their clothes. It's never a nice top and a skirt. It's always brand and description of style coupled with brand and description of style. Topped with something or other described footwear with a splash of whatever perfume type stuff.

Like dude, just say top and skirt.

We dress up but in pj’s. Am considering these for this year as the theme is wildlife.

Makes you snarly when you're not getting laid. Happy, content and satisfied people don't call people names and consider others less than them. It's weird.

Anonymouseposter · 21/11/2024 10:03

I think the pyjamas thing is a reaction to when Christmas day was quite formal and hard work for whoever was cooking etc.
Personally I think its nice that things are more relaxed but I wouldn't feel comfortable staying in pyjamas all day.

WhatALightbulbMoment · 21/11/2024 10:04

The first thing I do in the morning is get dressed! I love getting dressed for the day. I only wear comfortable clothing so it doesn't make any difference from a comfort level.

They look Fab. I do not look that good in pjs.

gamerchick · 21/11/2024 10:18

henlake7 · 20/11/2024 22:16

It's not the all day pjs that get me it's the fact that you presumably are t going to leave your house all day....that's the bit I would find hard to deal with.

I'm walking dogs, exercising, going to the shops or just going for a walk several times throughout the day. I'd only have a pj day if I was ill (and I'd still have to walk the dogs at some point!).

Edited

Me and husband are at work 6 days a week, we spend Sundays running around. We don't have dogs. Why would we want to go out? We've got 3 days off Christmas week and the ones the week after everyone gets. We're knackered

Everyones lives are set up different.

Absolutely. I work full time, have a young adult DS who lives with me part time, I have a very active social life and so I take any chance I get to lounge on the sofa in PJ’s binge watching Netflix.

If anyone wants to judge - oh well I really don’t care!

Maverick101 · 21/11/2024 10:25

Needmorelego · 21/11/2024 06:06

@Maverick101 by "brand new" I think people mean a clean pair from their wardrobe/drawer rather than the ones they have just slept in.

No, I mean the posts where it's really clear that (for example) there's a Christmas Eve box with brand new PJs in it. Not clean PJs

Why is it "hard to deal"; with other people not going out for one day of the year?

Seriously? life must a constant ordeal for you if this is the case
