Morning everyone, it's certainly very chilly today. We live on a houseboat and the howling wind seems to suck the warmth out like mad. I'm ok in bed under a mound of blankets but getting to the loo is a chilly gauntlet. It was lovely to see everyone's pet photos. Sadly we don't have one ourselves. We used to have a cat who lived next door. One morning I heard all this mournful crying and saw it had fallen down between the boat and the quay. The tide was coming in and he was completely stuck. My husband managed to get down to him and rescue him. From then on, he would come to visit me every so often. He would come inside, walk around checking and then snuggle me before getting out again. It seemed like he was saying thank you.

Your son's x-ray looks so sore. No wonder he's not feeling like doing anything. Hopefully they managed to straighten everything out and it should get less painful as the swelling goes down.

I love the new Spoonies page in your scrapbook and feel privileged to be part of the memories.

Hi @BeNavyCrab , how are you today? It’s certainly a cold one .
Wow I bet it’s amazing living on a houseboat, how interesting!
That’s adorable that your husband rescued the cat, big brownie points there .
Son is back at hospital on Monday they said they might need to operate on it so fingers crossed they don’t have to .
You’re all part of my memories now , you’re all ingrained into my soul 😂. And I hope you’ll all continue to be part of my future xx

Aww, cockerpoos are so cute @AdmittowearingCrocs . DP has 2 dogs but they're more his than mine as he has them when we got together and he takes them to work with him. It's nice having a part time dog though!

@Munchyseeds2 oh your doggo is gorgeous! I'm a sucker for a black dog 😍. She looks a bit staffy (that keeps changing to stuffy!) and a bit lab from that angle? I had a separation anxiety lurcher with my ex, he was gorgeous but needy!

If I’m anywhere near the Ritz, I shall go in and say “I’m here to see chief spoonie, please can you call her down.”

In reality I’m going with my daughter to see a show. It was my big birthday present from her.

Edited

I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be near the Ritz sometime over the weekend.
I hope you have a fab time with your daughter , how lovely 🥰 xx

Found a photo of my sons cockerpoo. She is adorable and I know she loves me as she gets so excited when she sees me. She is like another grandchild lol 😂

Hello! I'm well thanks @Imbluedalale ! Bloody freezing though! I think my metabolism is trying to convince me it needs to be fed more food in order to keep me warm, but I know it's lying to me and has plenty of fat reserves it could burn off first! I am placating it with a hot water bottle!

As to Shay and Blue - OOOOH! I will get right on over there! I love the sound of how lovely your sister's partner is to her - that's so heartwarming!

Keep posting the SpoonPets everyone, I'm loving them!

[Edited to add - I definitely know my metabolism is lying, as it's at least 20 degrees in here, so it's hardly cold!]

Munchyseeds2 · 22/11/2024 15:04

@RaspberryBeretxx well spotted, she is a staffy, not an overly big one and scared of lots of random things
She's also v vocal and loves getting into bed with us when shes cold....I know some of you will be 😨 but she has regular baths!!

Thank you😊 The collage sounds a lovely idea. I love crafting it’s really relaxes me.

Same here @EdgeOfReality , I’ve got a lovely craft box that I keep adding to although it’s not so fun when my shaky hand drops sequins and glitter all over my kitchen floor 😂. After being on my hands and knees other day cleaning it up I looked like a giant glitterball! Xx

Hi @Malbecfan , how’s your day going today? I hope you managed to have a nice sleep last night. I’ve just had my support worker come to see me , she’s lovely and she said she’s chuffed to bits for me . I gave her a few meat joints and steak to take home with her my mum said to offer her some and she was pleased with them xx

@Imbluedalale

You don't need smart meters but they are a good way of keeping track of costs and, because the government want all homes to have one, the energy firms give homes that have one the cheapest rates (makes me a bot cross!)
I suppose what I'm saying is just be aware and get the best fixed rate deal you can
Uswitch is a good comparison site.

I enjoy reading and watching the TV, spend way too long on the Internet!!
I enjoy cooking but try not to make too many cakes... (have you had any of the gammon yet?)
I do have some of the adult colouring books.
We have a campervan so try and get away as often as possible....give me a field somewhere quiet for a weekend and I'm happy

I wish I cou
ld knit or crochet, my Nan was really good at all that sort of stuff and made some lovely things....I struggle to thread a needle 😂

We have a dog who hates being left home alone, we got her during lock down and didn't realise she had issues til everyone went back to work
Luckily we have been able to work things out so someone is always here .
We call her our 3rd child but we ❤️ her, even tho she's a (massive) tie

Afternoon @Munchyseeds2 ,thank you so much for the energy advice . I’m useless when it comes to stuff like that. My mum keeps ringing me and saying ‘have you got the heating off’ 😂 and my dad says ‘put another jumper on’
I think I’m with British Gas I’m not sure if I’m allowed to change it??
I enjoy reading and internet browsing too, I think ‘I’ll just have 10 mins on my phone’ and I’m still there an hour later 😂
I’ve just had a gammon sandwich with beetroot it was lovely and a glass of fresh orange.
I love the adult colouring books too I did loads when I was in hospital. Camping sounds really fun and being in the outdoors with nature sounds bliss.
My mums really good at knitting and cooking . She used to make me and my sisters Easter dresses but in different colours. She likes baking cakes and cooking . She makes me laugh though as when all us kids left she treated herself to a brand new kitchen with a 4 oven aga which had two on the bottom and two on the top and now she tells me she cooks everything in the ninja and doesn’t use her cooker 😂
Awww your dog sounds adorable , I really want a pet but until I’m more settled and my health is better I will have to hold off for the time being xx

I love how this thread has grown. Started incredibly serious, moved through spoons, @TealPoet’s generosity, more spoons, perfume, crafts and now pusscats and woof woofs.

Edited

Hi @Apolloneuro , are you in London yet?
Oh I love our thread , we’ve had all sorts! Homelessness , illness , crisis houses , train stations, more homelessness , speaking to MP’s and CEO’s. Making shay and blue rich. Starting a spoon club, getting a new home, love, support, laughter , cookies, cakes, stuffed steak , soup. Green coats, starting a war with the council , staying at the ritz , making pin cushion dolls (is there a name for them my mind has gone blank)
music , poems, letters, emails, film and tv. Dogs and cats and spiders. Stompy Pete. Random kitchen tools and appliances. Musicals we have everything on here ! Xx

Excellent summary!

Yes, am installed in daughter’s front room, with a coffee, while she finishes work up in her office.

We’re going to see Six tonight. It’s a musical about the wives of Henry V111

Munchyseeds2 · 22/11/2024 15:42

@Imbluedalale you can go to any provider you like.. you are the one paying the bill

We just signed up to a BG fixed tariff last week for 2 years I think.... so the price per unit won't change

I'm like your mum, I don't use my oven much now I mostly cook for 2😀

I bet your support worker was really chuffed with the thank you gift xxx.

Munchyseeds2 · 22/11/2024 15:46

@Apolloneuro I think I would really enjoy that, I love that period of history, can't help thinking it was a very dangerous time to be alive tho!!
Have a lovely time

Your Chinese sounds amazing Laura (although love that you forgot to order the rice but didn’t mention it!). I find there’s always too much food anyway. So lovely that your saw your big sister and her DP too. And that your parents are coming round and your MH team. It must be great to see people and also have time in your lovely home. I hope your upcoming appointments go OK.

It really does feel like you’ve been in a chrysalis in the hotel and now you’re a butterfly emerging! I heard a comedian on R2 a couple of weeks ago and her new show was about having 2 very young kids and the changes that brings and it was called “I am a strange gloop” because in a chrysalis, the caterpillar doesn’t just grow some wings apparently, it turns into a strange gloop then that gloop forms slowly into a butterfly. I’ve thought about it since if I’m having a “strange gloop” moment. Sorry - bit random!

Eek at the Shay and blue website’s new perfumes. I’m not looking till after Christmas now I think.

How exciting to live on a houseboat @BeNavyCrab . I can imagine it being chilly though. Do you have a log burner? DP doesn’t have heating in his downstairs bathroom and it’s so cold! That poor cat falling down between the boat - that’s amazing that your DH saved it and love that it returns to say thank you 💕.

@Apolloneuro your London theatre trip sounds lovely! What are you going to see? My parents are in London for a few days next week and booked Moulin Rouge.

@Ruralretreating sorry your tummy isn’t good this morning. Good luck with your report. Enjoy your cake later on. Oh and what a gorgeous doggy - looks absolutely baffled by the cauliflower 😂.

@Munchyseeds2 - so jealous of your camper van, that sounds so relaxed just driving to a field for a weekend.

Hello to everyone else! Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Hi @RaspberryBeretxx , how’s your Friday going? It’s getting dark here already.
My sister texted me earlier asking if I had got a refund from just eat so I had to come clean as couldn’t make up a lie 😂she thought it was hilarious and she said that’s me through and through then she said my funniest moment was when I had the tanning disaster and she said sometimes it just comes into her head and she starts laughing 😆
It does feel so lovely to see people and have guests and be able to talk on the phone , it’s a nice feeling and I have all you too, my original gang where it all started so I’m very lucky and grateful.
It’s so strange you say that about butterflies because I’ve just been sorting through my craft box and putting my craft butterflies away. I love that saying ‘strange gloop’ 😂
I had a look at shay and blues website they have one which is dark, amber pomegranate which apparently they say if you love black tulip then you’ll love that it’s a more sultry version of black tulip. But I’ll have to wait until house is sorted before I start treating myself to that 😂xx

I’ve seen it before, in a regional theatre. It’s great. They all sing about their lives and then sing again about what their lives would have been like if they hadn’t met Henry.

Morning Laura and all the Spoonies, cold but sunny here on the very edge of the south coast in Hampshire and going to warm up considerably over the weekend. Sorry to hear your throat is still hurting Laura, and @PeggyMitchellsCameo hope your throat also feels better soon. I don’t have any pets but I look after my son and daughter-in-laws cockerpoo when they go on holiday, which is enough for me.
not feeling great as I pulled a muscle in my neck during the night when I turned over. Now I’m struggling to do things. It will get better but very annoying.
Would your older sister be able to ask your younger sister to give you your Christmas tree baubles back Laura?

Hi @AdmittowearingCrocs , happy Friday ☺️
Oh I’ve never seen a cockapoo in real life . My mum used to have a budgie but it used to bite but loved my mum and would kiss her. She told me to kiss it one day as it’s nice , she was called spot . So I did and she ripped half my top lip off. My mum thought it was hilarious. Do you have it in a cage?
I hope your neck starts to feel better soon , sending big hugs . I could ask about the baubles but I’m abit hesitant about putting them in my new house if I’m honest because it’s memories from before if that makes sense xx

Hi @ChoccieCornflake , when I was in crisis house and was eating one of the councillors said that it doesn’t matter what you eat in winter as everybody needs a winter coat. She said to worry about it in January. So go ahead and fuel your body there’s plenty of time till Jan.
My sisters partner is lovely , she’s been through a lot too bless her . She lost her son, my nephew when he was 2 to leukaemia and she was heavily pregnant with my niece. Also her ex husband who was in the army ended his life so it’s been hard for her so it’s nice to see her happy xx
