Have you ever stopped to think that a racist misogynist ableist homophobe convicted criminal President may not have the best affect on an already racist misogynistic ableist homophobic country?

72 million voters would take issue with your question, and how you framed it.

The remaining voters might meanwhile take issue with your description of the US.

Well the Democrats don’t do much better on most of those things.

I like history and I do remember the USA saving Europe from the Nazis. It has obviously changed a bit since then, but could you maybe give the year this happened? Or did it happen gradually?

Also, did the same thing happen in Canada and Mexico? If not, why?

Thanks so much if you can take the time to write a bit, it sounds interesting.

Cherry8809 · 06/11/2024 19:48

Are you not a big fan of democracy?

Vitriolinsanity · 06/11/2024 20:13

It's not like Disneyland and Universal are going to be effected by Trump's victory.

How many American tourists do you think are put off by the politics of the UK?

Oh for heavens sake, stop being silly. Life will continue, pretty calmly actually. The USA will continue to be fine to visit. Stop with the overreacting.

This!!

jersey2021 · 06/11/2024 20:18

Seems I’m in the minority but very much looking forward to my second visit this year to the states and I’ve just come back from my second visit to Dubai of the year! America is a very large country so I don’t think you’ll run in to him and Dubai is an amazing place to visit!

Given that Trump is elected.

Are you stupid?
What if any effect will it make difference to your holiday?

Justsayit123 · 06/11/2024 20:38

Don’t go if you don’t want to. just do t tell anyone IRL as it’s pathetic. Ffs

Very demure, very mindful.

It's democracy, stupid. Be thankful it still works.

The US isn't a democracy, it's a plutocracy. Have you seen the sums of money which go into presidential elections?

Interesting.

Wikipedia seems to think calling Western democracies plutocracies is fascist..

In the political jargon and propaganda of Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany and the Communist International, Western democratic states were referred to as plutocracies, with the implication being that a small number of extremely wealthy individuals were controlling the countries and holding them to ransom.[14][15] Plutocracy replaced democracy and capitalism as the principal fascist term for the U.S. and Great Britain during World War II.[15][16] In Nazi Germany, it was often used as a dog whistle term for Jewish people in their antisemitic propaganda.[15] Joseph Goebbels, the Reich Minister of Propaganda, found the term to be particularly favorable, describing it as "the main concept at which the ideological struggle will be aimed".[17]

Some interesting and wide ranging views.

For me, definitely a moral and ethical dilemma ( as with some other countries) rather than a simplistic ‘Trump won't know’.

That doesn't answer the question.

I dont know if trump being president means other states will now ban abortion also, or whether it will just be up to each state to decide and plenty will still retain abortions.

I strongly suggest you read Project 25. He has no intention of leaving it up to the states.

@HelenaWaiting Some states have already taken action to enshrine reproductive rights in state law. It was on my state’s ballot yesterday and was approved, I’m glad to say.

jezlifecoach · 06/11/2024 23:41

Please don’t do this, Donald Trump will be absolutely gutted :(

I have no desire to spend my money in a country run by a rapist, woman-hating monster. I'd not go either OP.

This.

I used to live there for a bit too but don't want to contribute a penny to anyone that holds trump in esteem.

Of course it is, haven’t you read project 2025?

The first camp is going on the Disney grounds in Florida. You’ll be met by Mickey as you get off the bus, escorted by princesses in their handmaiden cloaks and bonnets, all the rides will be converted into “it’s a small world” interjected with subliminal messages. Only after your 1000th pro Trump post written on X will you be deemed safe to rejoin society.

UnstablefromDunstable · 07/11/2024 00:58

It's not even that he won. Even if he had lost by the same margin, that would still mean that pretty much every other person you meet is someone who could countenance the idea of Trump as their head of state. That's enough to put me off going.

Off topic, but why is San Francisco like this? My friend went recently and was horrified by the level of street homelessness and mental illness. Why is it like this? I have never been but it always looked like a fun and interesting city in the films….

Because the progressive city government has stopped prosecuting people who break the laws.

Half of the UK vote was against Brexit. The outcome certainly didn't represent the views of everyone. Similarly many Americans are not in favour of Trump and his administration.

That was my point. No place, no person, is all bad nor all good. But, if one decides to make judgements of others, they should be prepared to be judged with the same rod themselves.

I'm not sure if it was legal for you to give all of that information away!

I would be watching my back if I were you! I heard that my neighbor's cousin's brother's best friend's aunt's hairdresser told of some secret plans and was forced unto EPCOT's "An American Adventure" and not allowed off for 24 hours. Scary thought!
