To be so disappointed in people - Trump voters especially

I feel absolutely stunned that despite all that has been said and done Trump is likely to get the chance to make the world burn a little faster.

I am afraid for a future so full of anger and hate.

Ask yourself this… do these actions come BEFORE or AFTER the annexation of Crimea? As for the Uk citizen… who is a former double agent… well, it’s crude but not random is it?

Dawn Sturgess wasn't a a double agent. The poor kid who ended up ill as a result wasn't also wasn't an agent. The thing about chemical warfare is that it is indiscriminate - even if it wasn't intended for the actual victims. If you bring that deadly shit into the UK, you target innocents. Not the same as a bullet in the head, is it?

I think it's bumbling Bidens fault for trying to hang on in there for too long.

WooleyMunky · 06/11/2024 12:18

Democrats should have pushed Biden out earlier and primaried candidates.

Harris was only ever looking like a last-minute stand in, and she had four years of a very thin political record to try and make look like something more than it ever could be.

Young voters 18-34 did not come out in high enough numbers for Harris, neither did women voters.

Trump won because he had a message that cut through with his voters, Harris lost because she had very little substance beneath the celebrity endorsements and soundbites.

But they are issues she has been very vocal on in numerous interviews. More recently she’s declined to elaborate, because she knew they were vote losing beliefs.

Do post links to the times she's been very vocal or are you declining to elaborate because it's actually Russian bot bullshit?

Yeah, that is where deception gets you.

Remember he was "sharp as a tack" the day before the debate according to Kamala, the entire Dem party and every media outlet.

Do you hear yourself?

Do you actually believe these things?

Yes - Trump has said he won’t continue to fund Ukraine - he’ll hand it over to Putin.

Trump has repeatedly praised Putin – and repeatedly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

We saw the same intellectual split on Brexit as well, but then we were told to just deal with it and democracy was more important. So it goes here too, I suspect.

@thepariscrimefiles I am not sure that split is true for this election though? Quite a lot has happened in the last 4 years. It appeared to be those with knowledge of geopolitics who were switching sides, I thought. Do you have any sources for what you say, ie in relation to 2024 election specifically?

Are the Ukrainians or Palestinians thinking they are lucky today?

America now has a convicted felon as their President - sentencing hearing is at the end of this month

I can imagine the Palestinians are glad to see the genocide supporting party currently in power has lost the election. Look at Dearborn, Michigan: 47 percent of Dearborn voters backed Trump, 27 percent of votes went to Harris and 21 percent to Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

I can imagine the Ukrainians are happy too. Their government was ready to sign a peace deal with Russia in April 2022. Boris Johnson flew to Ukraine to personally torpedo that peace deal. With Trump in power, perhaps the Ukrainians will have some more autonomy in negotiations with Russia.

And it's Trump whose labelled as fascist?

Yep, let's silence people you don't agree with by murdering them.
That would work out so well, I can't see any problems with it at all.

I don't know where you get your information from, but neither of those statements are true

He has said he'll hand Ukraine over to Putin? I honestly don't know what to say to you such is the depth of hell your brain is in

On what planet were they going to sign a peace deal in April 2022?

Agree, I will never take my family to America for a holiday. We do take things for granted in this country we have so good compared to other countries.

This is too funny. I don't think Americans care about your hurty feeling. And you're missing out.

ChallahPlaiter · 06/11/2024 12:27

CJsGoldfish · 06/11/2024 11:19

I'm not sure that some women care really after reading this thread.
Women are actually dying in the US due to the restrictive abortion laws Trump was responsible for. Real, dead women as a direct result of the last Trump presidency.
Can't say I've heard of anyone dying because a trans women beat them in a swimming race but, apparently, it's a much bigger concern.
If these women cared SO much about women and womens rights they wouldn't support/condone someone who is very open about how little he values women.
How is one able to reconcile such hypocrisy?

It’s hard to fit a cigarette paper between the views of so called gender critical self-styled “feminists” and those of the hard and far right. It’s an uncomfortable truth that usually gets brushed under the carpet.

MichaelandKirk · 06/11/2024 12:27

Sky - that is a horrible thing to say and eactly why he did. Can you not see that you cannot kill people who dont believe what you do??

thepariscrimefiles · 06/11/2024 12:02

You think I'm a communist! You have got no idea of what I earn. I am now retired but I was a higher rate tax payer.

What is your education level? You certainly don't know what communism means.

So if you lost your job or became disabled and couldn't work, you would literally starve to death rather than apply for any benefits? I don't believe you. Anyway, right wing well off people do like benefits. If they didn't, they wouldn't be moaning about the means testing of child benefit and the winter fuel allowance.

I can see I touched a nerve there.Yes of course you were and I'm sure you're were also one of those individuals that likes to go around telling people how 'proud you are to have had to contribute more to an "honest society"'. That honest society doesn't exist and no amount of tax will change that. The society we live in is very much the less work you do the more hand outs you get. Handouts that come straight out of working people's pockets. That to me is not my idea of an "honest society".

I know perfectly well what communism is. Thank you for inquiring. It seems perhaps being retired you seemed to have lost touch with the working world around you.

If the money did go the public services such as the NHS I would feel much better about paying my taxes to but the fact is the NHS don't see half as much as they should because a majority of taxes go to benefits so people don't have to work.
Thank you for inquiring about my education. I am in fact a very well rounded privately educated young woman.

Losing your job doesn't mean you can't get another one. Being disabled does not mean you cannot work, there is a plethora of jobs out there that doesn't require much physical exertion. There is a role for everyone.

AnonymousBleep · 06/11/2024 12:28

Oh FFS MN isn't a left-leaning forum. You only have to click on one of the threads about private school VAT to see that. There are loads of right wing posters - a number of which are on this thread moaning about being victimised. Ironic, as Trump would also be playing the victim card and claiming the election was 'stolen' if he lost. Weird that it can't have been stolen if he won, though?

Hi, can you outline how his win will socially and economically benefit American citizens? Surely that is the essence of democracy, the greatest gain for the greatest number.
