It's 3pm and already we've had people trick n treating. I've now brought pumpkins inside until 5ish. Anyone else?

Someone on the local Facebook page had the audacity to moan that many houses had no sweets left at 5.30 am.

Apparently these houses should have been better prepared and anticipated such a high volume of trick or treaters.

Did anyone say anything? That's well cheeky

We are the same. I ask that they don’t knock as it drives the dog crazy but to help themselves to a couple of sweets. I have a Cadbury’s heroes tub that I fill with lots of prebagged skittles, maltesers, mints, haribo maoam etc. I top it up after a handful of visits. It went out at 4.30 when it was getting dark. Lots of teenies and parents and the ones that know us gave my disabled daughter a wave at the window. She loves Halloween. At around 7 I went out to top up and decided it would be the last refill. I filled the tub to the brim. The next visitors were a group of teenage lads, around 16-18. who stole the lot. Including the tub. So sad. Nothing left for children that came later. I took the pumpkins etc in then.

I can beat you, 4 lads came round at 12.30. Mostly it starts around 4.30. This year it finished earlier than normal at about 7.30. Normally goes in till 8 with a few stragglers up to 9. I ran out of sweets- I'd only bought 360!

Cause I can't put up with the dog going mad, these kids weren't tiny. I'll put um back out in a hour.

I changed my Ring chime to one of the Halloween ones and the dog didn't recognise it, so didn't bark!

Ours barks as soon as they set foot on drive, I even tried leaving gate open. She would be fine with the first time but then would keep going. She's not bothered by fireworks though and just lays watching them

Me and Yoda (age 2) left at 4:45, still light so he can see. I put a sign on the door to say we weren’t home yet and to come back later. My Ring doorbell went off at least 20 times in the half an hour we were out! Once we ran out of sweets I took the candles out the pumpkins and put up a sign saying we were all out…again, the doorbell was non-stop!

I was shocked by how early everything finished in Newcastle. We travelled back from a family break in Manchester to a party that was supposed to occur between 5 and 8. We got our little one ready, arrived at grandma's house at around 7 and were told that everyone was packing away! 3 pm is probably too early but 7 is definitely too early to finish. Loads of households were saying, "nothing is left," but my son was so excited and wanted to stay out after 7 so I took him round a few more doors and he was pleased as punch with his sweetie stash.

Please don't do this. I live in a road that people travel to and it REALLY spoils the vibe

never did for us, when we were THE go to Halloween house.
we always felt extra proud when a car showed up on the road and excited trick or treaters emerged, because their school friends had told them the previous year, we were THE house to go to.

My dog isn't bothered by fireworks either, so that's a blessing. My previous dog would come over to where I was sitting and hide under my legs.

I would say 3pm is early because people aren't always home.
