To wonder why dp can't get a job this way

Lacky301 · 31/10/2024 11:35

Dp can never get a job directly with a employer his applications are always rejected or he doesn't hear back.
We are trying to avoid agencies as his last workplace had a hire and fire system dp got settled there after been there almost 2 years but company didnt have enough work so he had to finish.

Would he not go for security jobs as a helpful person suggested earlier?

Long term, GCSE maths and English would get you considered for a lot more jobs.

He would love a security job but whenever I mention it he seems to think he will pay out money and still struggle to get a job in the field like his friend has. He also thinks that maybe employers are been biased due to his nationality so his applications get by passed

Hmm, he'd have no practical experience, and it's a skill. DP does it for a living. I'll ask him later, but it doesn't sound like it's legit to me.

Please ask for me that would be great

Yeah but if you don't try you don't get. Seems like you're at a point where you'll have to pay to get something that means entry to a job, so he might as well try that for a job he would actually like to do. Did his friend get qualified or what?

Friends in London as well and is upset that he paid for it and can't get a job in the field.
He also has another friend who paid thousands out on plumbing and can't get anything.

Yes I agree but unfortunately it's gonna be lower cost courses like forklift sia etc

Plumbers, properly qualified, are like gold dust. I suspect he didn't pay for a proper course either. I imagine there's a big market in scam courses which is appalling.

Friend doesn't drive and I suspect he doesn't have the gcse grades either as he came from similar circumstances also on a visa etc etc

Isn’t it more the case that agency workers get rights after two years so that’s why they ended the contract? I know we aren’t allowed to keep them for longer than two years.

Lovemycat2023 · 02/11/2024 16:07

I’ve also just seen the post that he needs a visa to work. Does his employer have to sponsor him? That could also put people off (for admin reasons). I’m public sector and we don’t seem to take people on if we have to sponsor them for a visa. I imagine if he gets the visa himself it’s not an issue.

No sponsorship not needed that's only if they come on a work visa

I believe your correct but they spite themselves really if they get a good worker why not keep hold of a person.
They don't deserve good employees.

AquaPeer · 02/11/2024 16:23

They don’t need “good” employees- you need to accept that these jobs are easy come easy go for a reason. Almost anyone physically fit enough can do them and good in this context just means showing up on time and doing what you’re told.
That’s a very low bar of good and employers won’t appreciate it, no. That’s the world he operates in.

That's very true. People are totally replaceable in this kind of job. Sad but true.

I've been looking for a free one

He could have paid for one from his last wage.

Lacky301 · 02/11/2024 16:36

Well some are very fussy about thier production rate and dp was one of the fastest and they want people who can be left to work on thier own initiative and sadly this was lacking with some employees so if they want to lose somebody that meets this then thier loss I guess
Low wages plus unskilled and easily replaced doesn't always equal we can just get somebody in when we want they should recognise whose good for thier company.

Does his CV make it clear that he has a right to work and doesn't need sponsorship? Might be worth making that very clear upfront.

I cannot see the appeal in this man at all. I never understand why British women would choose a man like this. I would honestly rather be single forever.
Op the fact that you've called yourself Lacky says a lot.

DP says you are not qualified for warehouse forks after just an online test, there needs to be a practical. CPD means nothing in terms of accreditation , it's just short for continuing professional development. You'd need CPCS. It's a bit like passing your driving theory, you need a practical test. So unless this links up with one you've been scammed, sorry
