Don't argue with the traffic warden on your school run

It made me laugh yesterday as 3 of the Mums driving stupidly big cars received parking tickets outside the school dates. They work on the safety lines that are outside schools and they only live a 7 minute walk from school and also don't work (I know of them). They came out and tried to argue their way out of the tickets saying "what? A parking ticket for dropping my kid off at school?"

I think it serves them right. I've parked on a single yellow near the school in a mega rush so I'm no angel but if you do that you accept that there is a chance you will get a ticket and can't complain if you get one can you!!?

Just made me laugh it was the 4x4 cars from the professional yummy mummies who all got them and then wanted to argue, talk about entitlement! Plus if you have a big car then surely a parking ticket is affordable?! That's part of the illusion of wealth is that you don't care!

Needless to say the areas are clear today so they've learned their lesson, for now at least! X

There is 1 at dc's school
. Lives in the biggest house in the village. Parks like a dick every day. She is a school governor. Because the Head frankly must have lost her mind....

The Head doesn't appoint governors. If she's a parent governor then she was elected by the parents.

Didn’t she have an epileptic fit? Sadly no matter what car she was driving, it could have been a Fiat 500, that was always going to be fatal

I don't think that's true, actually. A Fiat 500 would probably not even have breached the fence.

I am a non Parent Governor, I didn't even meet The Head until my first meeting

Tangerinenets · 25/10/2024 12:11

Not bothered who they are or their working status. Anyone parking outside a school on those zig zags should get a ticket.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/10/2024 12:16

I get that the type of car you drive doesn’t matter - no one should be parking on these lines.

But it does seem to be drivers of massive cars that are totally pointless if you live in a city / town who park like idiots - see also parking across two spaces. It’s both sexes though, but no means mainly women. And I imagine most of those drivers work.

I got a parking ticket for parking two wheels up the kerb a couple of roads from the school (it’s actually the most considerate way to park at that location and wouldn’t block a wheelchair etc, but I get that rules are rules). I just chalked it up to experience.

Edit - I have a tiny VW Up which I love as it makes it easy to park legally in places when there are not spaces big enough for these monster trucks left!

PattiLupone12 · 25/10/2024 12:20

There should also be a way to tax the hell out of 4x4 drivers if they are using them in built-up/urban areas. Understand the need for these in rural/agricultural settings but they are not needed elsewhere.

A school where my children went to face a dual carriageway.
At the rear is a very large field which has now been made into
a carpark. (100 spaces) It takes an extra 2 minutes to walk to the doors where
the children exit.
Yet still parents park on the lines outside the front completely blocking one
of the lanes.

Not uncommon, anyone who lives near a school will have tales of entitled parents who don't give a shit about anything except parking as close as humanly possible to the school gates.

I'm very happy with my life thanks ☺️

I'm bored of all the full time mummies who make out my children are neglected because I have the audacity to want a career and life for myself.

And I'm very very bored of all the old "all women who disagree with another woman are jealous" trope. It's so unimaginative.

purplebeansprouts · 25/10/2024 12:35

You sound jealous of their cars and lifestyle when that has nothing to do with it

PureBoggin · 25/10/2024 12:36

BalletCat · 25/10/2024 11:28

I'm not jealous, I find these women rather empty. They need a hobby. And a career of their own.

Yummy mummy's who's whole personality is being the best mummy ever and lunching with other such women after having manicures and pressing their cashcows (sorry husbands) trousers bore me to to death. I've been to a few mum groups full of yummy mummys and there's not a personal interest in sight, fuck me it's dull! They yammer on a out how they could never leave little Jemima in childcare and their lives are just so full with all the little tea parties and school gate chats! It's all so vacuous. I thought it looked charmed until I tried it, after 4 months I was bored to death and went back to work.

I'll be down the stables with my horses teaching my daughter some actual skills and that there's more to life than cars and hairdos thanks. My hair is long and my riding boots knee high but I really don't see how that's supposed to make me feel fulfilled in life.

She's just jealous is always the go to put down for women but we are allowed to just think someones a twat you know.

Edited

You don't know THESE women! Your life works for you, their lives work for them - there's really no problem here.

Then that is a specific issue you have with sahms and is not in anyway related to their parking. It's weird to drag someone's employment status into a rant about parking dangerously.

That's not what this thread is about. But you do seem triggered. Why do you care what they think about you?

I wasn't talking about the parking, I was replying to all the women who are just picking on the OP for calling these women yummy mummies and the posters all accusing the women agreeing with her of being jealous of these women because she actually thinks they're idiots.

You find horses dull, that's fine, Im certainly not going to reply with Gosh this woman is so jealous!! She obviously just really wants horses but can't afford them! Because that would be stupid. Like all the accusations of jealousy in this thread are stupid.

I don't care what they think about me, I'm sick for women shouting JEALOUSY! at other women whenever they don't agree with other women. Which is what is happening here with the OP. Grow up.

So it's not a lifestyle for you. It's not a lifestyle for me either. But there's no need to be so hostile about people who decide that's what they want to do.

OK if it's not jealousy what is it? Why the sneering at the women's lifestyle?

But claiming all sahm’s are vacuous, boring, have no life and no interests just because don’t full time isn’t boring and unimaginative.

Even the notion that someone who doesn’t work and therefore has significantly more time to spend on things they enjoy is boring and dull is pretty pathetic.

It also has nothing to do with poor parking outside a school

But she isn't disagreeing with them. She is judging them despite knowing nothing about them other than they appear to have more money than her and THAT is most likely jealousy.
If they park like arseholes then OP should judge that as its the only thing about them she knows for certain
