I want to preface this with violence is never the first answer and there was better ways of dealing with it.

I got a call from ds (13) school to say that he had been in trouble because he punched a boy in the face and knocked him to the ground, ds is autistic and wears a hat as a comfort item, he’s worn a hat every day for three years and is extremely protective of his hats, no one touches them not even me and his dad. The last time he got into trouble for violence was nearly two years ago when a kid took his hat and wouldn’t give it back. My ds is also gender confused at the moment, and has been since he was 7! (Still Goes by he/him) most people see a quiet gentle effeminate boy and think he will be a pushover but he’s not.

basically the kid took his hat and denied it, ds got in his face and asked for it back and he threw it into the mud at which point ds pushed him towards it and said “pick it up” (all on cctv with audio) the kid said no and pushed back, there was a scuffle and next thing the kid is on his arse on the floor holding his face and ds just calmly picked up his hat and walked off.
school were surprisingly understanding and said he wouldn’t try it on with ds again! Ds is getting isolated at break times for a day but won’t be suspended.

obviously I’ve spoken to ds about how there’s better ways to deal with things than resorting to violence but part of me wants to give him a high five! He’s always been a target for bullies for obvious reasons but I’m quite old and from the generation that understood that if you didn’t knock a bully on their arse and humble them they’d never stop. Hopefully this kid was suitably humiliated by getting his arse handed to him by a boy in a pink hat in front of the whole school and will learn a lesson from it.

Twist yourself in knots all you like but we all know the “ I’m so naughty and wild and out there and you parents are dull squares” is absolutely classic teen! Most grow out of it by 18 thankfully.

@SassK that statement shows not only your ignorance but your insecurity in organised religion.

If your faith is such that you see someone else’s beliefs as a calculated insult, the problem is you, not other religions.

Abrahamic religions have one core thing in common - the need to recruit and retain members through fear mongering and demonisation of all other belief systems.
Free will and critical thinking are the first things they want control of. A belief system that encourages the opposite therefore must be evil. Why?

More destruction, death, pain, societal and generational harm has been done in the name of God than any other demon or deity.

If there is a definition of evil, it fits god and his agents very well.

The Temple of Satan in the US advocates for abortion as health care and helps women in need access that healthcare while good ol Christians want women and children to bear children at any cost, under any circumstances, and if they die, well that’s God’s will. Once those forced births result in live children, there is no Christian charity in sight, only moral judgement.

But let’s focus on satanists as try hard, and an insult to ‘people of faith’.

@TheaBrandt if someone is twisting in knots, it’s not me.

Passive aggression is the lowest form of intellectual wit. Most people grow out of that by 18 too.

I have no religious faith/belief; I'd describe myself as agnostic.

Satanism isn't a belief system, it isn't even about rejecting beliefs. As I said, it's by design a mocking and taunting position.

Member984815 · 24/10/2024 09:43

Good for him, violence is not usually the answer and I wouldn't celebrate it in front of him but persistent bullying sometimes needs a strong resistance. And fwiw to me satanism is just another religion , I don't get the pearl clutching .

I remember being in secondary school (a private school at that) and one morning, the headteacher had given an assembly in which he discussed something about provoking people until they reacted.
That very day, a boy mocked me over and over in class (a double lesson, so it was 2 hours long). I lost my shit in the end and attacked him. I was given no punishment whatsoever.

I agree that no-one should have to endure bullying and be expected not to react.

Please tell us how the boy ended up in the end?

This school sounds utterly shit

presumably a teacher was present during the 2 hour lesson of mocking but did fuck all to stop it

and then did nothing when said mocked pupil “attacked” the bully

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 24/10/2024 10:20

Yeah my two are a bit too sensitive to getting into trouble I think!

You have to hit the bully and then not mind that you get in trouble for it.

Over40Overdating · 24/10/2024 10:20

@SassK Satanism IS a belief system.

To say its only purpose is to mock and taunt - and presumably to mock and taunt Christianity - is categorically wrong.

The wiki definition of Satanism is :
a group of religious, ideological, and/or philosophical beliefs based on Satan.

There are strands of Satanism as there are with Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism etc.

The Temple of Satanism is recognised as a religion in the US. And is a force for more good than many of the Christian traditions there.

The Church of Satan is an atheistic group who do not believe in a supernatural definition of Satan.

I am not religious but was raised so and it frustrates me that even today our view of other religions is filtered through a Christian POV and therefore anyone identifying as a Satanist, or witch or pagan or whatever, is a joke or mock religion or offensive because only Abrahamic religions can be real.

It’s all based on folklore, faith and in the case of Abrahamic religions, men wanting to excise power over women, so why is one more valid than the other. Or should I say why are those which value power and control over its adherents more valid than those who promote free will.

Beaten up and he never done it again. His friends all mocked him for it and never let him live it down the rest of our teenage years.

His older sister was also a bully and she never even looked in my direction again.

There’s something in alot of what you say.

Judaism doesn’t work to recruit people though or do any of what you describe - I’m not talking about nation state Israel but the Jewish religion.

They are also pro choice.

I’m not saying “oh this religion is great” but I think you’re generalising a bit to much.

Im guessing they never worked out given your username?

@themamanet the only thing you genuinely are is insincere. My dating history has zero relevance to what I’ve posted here.

Over40Overdating · 24/10/2024 10:33

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing I would agree that there are strands of Judaism that are more liberal than some other faiths but the root of all are one and the same to me to be honest.

Over40Overdating · 24/10/2024 10:38

@themamanet I am an atheist if that helps you feel even better about whatever narrative you are 😆 about me.

My beliefs or lack thereof have never had any bearing on my dating success or failure.

Have a lovely day thinking you managed to ‘cleverly’ insult someone you couldn’t have a proper conversation with, based on nothing more than your own limited imagination 😀

all good @Over40Overdating all good

themamanet · 24/10/2024 10:47

although enquiring whether you raise your views on the temple of satan to those you’re dating (based on your username!), i wouldn’t say is a criticism unless you’re sensitive about it - in which case, my apologies 🌺

Over40Overdating · 24/10/2024 11:12

@themamanet I don’t want to derail OPs thread much more but this is quite funny in a slightly sad way. I genuinely hope you have a good day and get whatever validation you are trying very hard for.
