I want to preface this with violence is never the first answer and there was better ways of dealing with it.

I got a call from ds (13) school to say that he had been in trouble because he punched a boy in the face and knocked him to the ground, ds is autistic and wears a hat as a comfort item, he’s worn a hat every day for three years and is extremely protective of his hats, no one touches them not even me and his dad. The last time he got into trouble for violence was nearly two years ago when a kid took his hat and wouldn’t give it back. My ds is also gender confused at the moment, and has been since he was 7! (Still Goes by he/him) most people see a quiet gentle effeminate boy and think he will be a pushover but he’s not.

basically the kid took his hat and denied it, ds got in his face and asked for it back and he threw it into the mud at which point ds pushed him towards it and said “pick it up” (all on cctv with audio) the kid said no and pushed back, there was a scuffle and next thing the kid is on his arse on the floor holding his face and ds just calmly picked up his hat and walked off.
school were surprisingly understanding and said he wouldn’t try it on with ds again! Ds is getting isolated at break times for a day but won’t be suspended.

obviously I’ve spoken to ds about how there’s better ways to deal with things than resorting to violence but part of me wants to give him a high five! He’s always been a target for bullies for obvious reasons but I’m quite old and from the generation that understood that if you didn’t knock a bully on their arse and humble them they’d never stop. Hopefully this kid was suitably humiliated by getting his arse handed to him by a boy in a pink hat in front of the whole school and will learn a lesson from it.

What are you on about? The op says she doesn't think she's ever started a thread about ds and the hat, she never said she didn't start a thread about Satan

i am not referring to the op and a previous thread re her son? what are you talking about

it was purely the satan thread i was referring to

I've just read that, it explains that members of Satan's Temple and the Church of Satan do not worship Satan, a fascinating thread!

Please don’t ever change your child’s pronouns or let him think he is a girl and entitled to be in female spaces. Where will that end if he is misgendered (correctly gendered)?

I understood the child to be a girl who used he/him pronouns. And it was a girl with a comfort hat in the previous allegedly unrelated thread too. A girl with ASD being encouraged to think there are boy things and girl things and some imaginary criteria they need to meet personality-wise to be their sex.

Over40Overdating · 23/10/2024 21:33

Oh dear @MrsBunTheBakersMum now that the extremely hard of critical thinking know you are a satanist, it’s curtains for your thread.

Pearls will be clutched and lips pursed at your ungodlyness. Never mine the tenets of satanism being more equitable and humane than the widely revered commandments. The people who worship the altar of Jonny Boden and Ocado will have no truck with satanists!!

MrsBunTheBakersMum · 23/10/2024 22:05

I’m going to have to name change I think. I’ve been on mumsnet for over 13 years (with a couple of name changes along the way) but now I can’t have any discussion that doesn’t come around to pearl clutching and ignorance. If more people followed the temples tenets the world would be much calmer!

not that it matters but ds was born with male genitalia.

Someone calling themselves a satanist is NOT seeking inconspicuousness. Indeed the worst thing you could do is ignore them, because if everyone ignored them then what would be the point?

I'm agnostic, a terrible sinner I'm sure, and I find it in very poor taste. You can fight the power, sock it to the man... you can object to organised religion without ripping the absolute piss out of people of faith (seeking only to insult them; making it your very raison d'etre, actually).

You jumped on a quote where op was saying she didn't think she started a previous thread about her son

Then started banging on about Satan and that the op was lying about not starting a thread about it, which is not what the op did 🙄

You NEVER start it, but you're allowed to end it.

Do you all live in an Enid Blyton novel?!

Yes.
"The Famous Five are Taught Don't Throw the First Punch but they Know they're supported if they Fight Back" 😒

They all have a ginger beer at the end.

why don’t you click on the link the above poster posted that the Op has started and take a read

and then take a ganda on “church of satan” on other sources

Church of Satan and the satanic temple are very different things, surely that came up in your extensive research

they are

and satanic temple is also profoundly disturbing

Evil many would say

myrtleWilson · 24/10/2024 07:47

well I’m cool with protecting/securing reproductive rights so thanks Satanic Temple guys!

MrsBunTheBakersMum · 24/10/2024 07:48

To clear things up, yes I’m a satanist, I’m a member of the satanic temple. I don’t worship or even believe in Satan I’d describe it as spicy atheism.
mum not and will never be associated with the church of Satan who have vey different views to me.

to believe in Satan you have to by default believe in god and I don’t, I joined the satanic temple because I agree with the tenets they live by and it’s a lovely welcoming community made up of people who want to be kind and help people because it’s the right thing to do rather than because their god will punish them if they don’t. so completely different to pearl clutching Christians. its unlikely I’ll post on this username again which is sad.

Well done op's son.
My Dd was put into all day isolation once in primary for punching a boy who was throwing things at her friend.
Sounds like an over reaction?
DD's friend had Downs Syndrome and the boy was in year 6 while they were in year 3.
This boy had been targeting DD's friend for months, verbally, but as ther 1 to 1 was not present ramped it up to throwing clods of dirt and stones.
I have never been so proud, the friends mum brought her some sweets, the boys mum.asked the school NOT to punish her.

TheaBrandt · 24/10/2024 08:19

The satanist thing is just abit….weird. The gleeful “you boden loving mummies will be shocked” post was funny too. It’s rather teenage behaviour “look at us we are so out there and spicy but we really need to tell you we are satanists it’s the most interesting thing about us”. The only response is a “that’s nice dear”.

MrsBunTheBakersMum · 24/10/2024 08:26

Ds has a just admitted this kid has been trying to provoke him since the start of school.

I like a laugh, but the pearl clutching patter is boring. It's trolling by any definition, as is calling yourself a satanist.

Questioning organised religion where necessary, and the harm it does (as well as the good, because there IS a lot of good), is perfectly reasonable. Calling yourself a satanist however is, by calculated design, only about insulting and taunting people of faith.

Over40Overdating · 24/10/2024 09:07

It’s not trying to troll or be provocative to acknowledge that a lot of posters on here are exceptionally judgmental and narrow minded when it comes to any beliefs outside of Christianity, even if those posters claim atheism. Tarring anyone with alternative beliefs as being try hard for attention is as reductive and dull as the pearl clutching Boden mummy trope.

So if you don’t like being referred to as a pearl clutcher or basic boden mummy, don’t live down to those stereotypes in the same way you reduce people who follow the beliefs of satanism to the very dull and uninformed view you have of them.

Basically, mind your business, keep your ignorance to yourself and your feelings won’t be hurt. Which I believe is one of the laws of satanism. Much more useful the ‘thou shalt feel morally superior to everyone who isn’t you’ rule so many Christians live by.

Over40Overdating · 24/10/2024 09:10

@TheaBrandt passive aggression dressed up as nonchalance is also something teenagers do to seem interesting, FYI.
