UPDATE:

And I’m absolutely sobbing !

The manager of the council has just rang me (a different manager) and he said they are as we speak re-booking this room for me for the time being until something else is sorted ! OMG I can’t believe it .

Thank you to each and everyone of you that has made this happen , there isn’t enough thankyou’s in the world to express my gratitude 🙏 xxxxx

Oh Laura I am so pleased for you. Have they given any indication how long they will provide the hotel room for?
Such a relief for you and you should be so proud of yourself for having the courage to contact the MP and stand your ground 😁😁

Nottogetapenny · 01/11/2024 13:46

You should be so proud of yourself, you did it! Hope that it will make you feel less stressed and hopefully make you feel a lot better. Have a good weekend and try to eat something to build your strength up. 🌸😘

Ruralretreating · 01/11/2024 13:48

Hurrah! Sensible from council (at last!). Am so happy for you that you don’t need to stress about where to go tomorrow.

Make sure you email Dawn at MPs office to let her know outcome and more importantly thank her and Sally the MP for their help. That will be really appreciated I know. Written thank yous are great because they can be referred to later on as evidence of the value of that role/person. Same for your support worker

Munchyseeds2 · 01/11/2024 13:48

Laura that is the best news ever!!
It's made my day ❤xx

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 01/11/2024 13:51

I will put the trouser press back now ✔️✔️✔️✔️
This is fantastic news for now. Everything is definitely moving in the right direction.
And much applause to the PP who started this off by booking the room. What a superstar you are!

ChoccieCornflake · 01/11/2024 13:54

@Imbluedalale and @TealPoet for the absolute win!!!!!

RaspberryBeretxx · 01/11/2024 13:54

Oh, that's so so wonderful, Laura! I knew there had to be an update when I saw 35 unread posts on here!! Just brilliant news 😁.

Huge well done for ringing the MPs office, I totally get that all these phone calls are horribly nerve wracking. I hate phone calls at the best of times so really feel for you, I do anything to avoid making a phone call! But I do know it's really the best way to get people on to things though and be that squeaky wheel. You've been so so brave.

Bless the cleaner for checking on you.

When you've had a chance to calm down, can you either nip to subway or ask the member of staff to get you something to eat?

The yellow leggy robovac does sound terrifying!!

ChoccieCornflake · 01/11/2024 13:41

OMG!!!!!!! That is the best news!!!!!! In tears right now hearing that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You did this LAURA!! With help, but you were the one on the ground doing it!

I know ! I cannot believe it .
All that fight, stress and everything else it paid off !
I don’t think I did it , this brigade did it !
You all gave me strength and courage that I didn’t have .
You gave me contacts I never knew about .
You gave me hope when I felt hopeless .
I couldn’t have done this without u all.
Thank you so so so much xx

@TealPoet you superstar ✔️✔️✔️

ChoccieCornflake · 01/11/2024 13:59

You definitely did do it! We might have supplied the tools and the info, but you were the one that used them! It wasn't us on the phone standing up to the council, and inspiring people like your support workers and MPs to help you - that was all you! You have a core of steel!!

Thank you AdmittowearingCrocs,
And thank you so much for giving me details of the contacts . I’m truly thankful.
I asked them what will happen next Friday as they can only book for 7day periods and they said they will just keep re-booking until in housed.
You know what I am proud! For the first time in my life I feel proud . But it was from the strength, support, hope and courage you all gave me that’s what helped me .
Im going to have a bath to celebrate 🙌 xx

Phew, just catching up and I am SO relieved and happy! There has been very little I could do from here - I firmly believe lots of prayer is the secret, not me! Even the robovac will look like more of a friend now.

I am in tears reading this, knowing you will be there until housed. Knowing you are safe, warm and comfortable with facilities that enhance your stay such as being able to take a bath and make a cup of tea has made my week.
Now enjoy the peace and quiet and let the stress disappear. Hopefully you will be able to eat, sleep and begin healing.
You did this Laura, we just supported you but you had the courage and will to make phone calls and send emails. I am in awe of you 💐🍪

I’m so so thankful for everybody’s help I couldn’t have done this without you.
My mum and dad always say I’m not strong enough and I’m not fighting hard enough but I can now truthfully say they are wrong!
I will definitely get something to eat this afternoon , I might celebrate and have 3 more cookies 😂xx

That you are there not just for today or this week but until you have a home is the best news, the very best!

And you should totally be PROUD! PROUD with bells on!!!!!!

TealPoet · 01/11/2024 14:19

Do have more cookies for sure! Eat one for me since I can’t <3

You have been so strong and fought so hard. No one can rightly say anything else. Now we can have happy discussions about your book, courses to take, just nice things!

Great, they’ll all appreciate it so much. So often people in these roles do lots of difficult stuff that is unrecognised.

That’s the spirit! Determined and future-focused! That’s the stuff we admire in you Laura! Enjoy your bath, tea and cookies along with the peace of mind this decision brings.

Agree with all the shout-outs and gratitude to @TealPoet who is also an inspiration with her spirit, fortitude and generosity.
