So sorry that your tummy is not good with all the stress and worry. Hope you can manage some sips of water or tea to stay hydrated. Glad you managed to sleep for a bit. Did you manage to grab anything from breakfast in case you feel a bit better? xx

Morning PeggyMitchellsCameo,
How are you today?
I managed to get a few solid hours in but I woke up at 4am not feeling very well and then from 6am I’ve had my head over the toilet on and off since then . I really don’t feel very well I think it’s the stress of it all xx

I hope you get some better news today. Wish we could do more to help.
Please let us know if you get any positive news.

Hello!! I'm thinking of you this morning Laura!

Morning ChoccieCornflake,
Are you ok?
How was your night at the pub? Good I hope .
Thank you for thinking of me , truly means alot xx

Laura I'm sorry you are feeling so rubbish today. Our bodies have strange ways of letting us know when it's all too much. I have everything crossed that you hear some news through some of the more official channels you've tried this week. I want to see a safe home for you asap! I will be checking for updates between cocktails xx

ChoccieCornflake · 01/11/2024 11:53

Hiya! I'm good thanks! The night out was good too - bloody loud, but good music. Lots of people dressed up and getting heavily into the cocktails! I mostly chatted (well, shouted over the music!) and people-watched!

I hope the tea settles your stomach a bit. Stomachs do seem to be very stress-sensitive organs. Mine also had a preference for emptying itself at the first sign of stress!

Ruralretreating · 01/11/2024 10:51

Morning @Imbluedalale ! Just checking in, seeing how you are and if any progress for you on housing.
It’s great that you said the “my mental health coordinator said that the email that the boss of the mental health team sent to the council was very very good. She stated he made it very clear that the accommodation offered to me wasn’t in any way suitable for me.”

If you are arguing with council about “refusing” the accommodation just keep referring back to that letter and any other professionals who have commented (I think you said police had) e.g. “I did not refuse suitable accommodation. No suitable accommodation was offered. You have an email from (name) in the mental health team which clearly states that. I am a victim of domestic abuse, I am disabled, I have mental health concerns. The accommodation needs to reflect these needs”. If necessary adding “You must comply with the legal obligations on you in these circumstances.”

Generally in these fights the objective opinion of professionals carries more weight. Sorry if this is all obvious already.

Morning Ruralretreating,
I hope you are having a good day so far.
I’m not feeling very well today unfortunately, hopefully I will start to feel better soon.
No progress as yet , waiting for the phone to ring .
That’s a good idea to refer back to that , thank you . I just hope they listen this time and have abit of compassion for the situation xx

Hi RaspberryBeretxx,
Im having a cup of tea now , just trying to sip it . I think all the adrenaline I had yesterday has wore off and now the stress is coming through.
I didn’t get anything for breakfast but one of the ladies from the hotel said whenever I feel upto eating she will get me something as she could see I wasn’t very well xx

I hope so too OP! Sorry to hear you are sick, it’s the last thing you need.

If you haven’t heard anything yet this morning I would get on phone to MPs office first, then council.

Yes they certainly do don’t they! It’s ironic really, I remember my cancer nurse telling me that once I’m away from the stress (before I left) that my body will have a better chance of fighting. I wasn’t prepared for all the stress that came after, I probably shouldn’t have been so gullible to it all.
Even the robot hoover has it in for me , there’s a robot hoover in the hallway , it’s quite a long hallway and every time I open my door to step outside it comes straight for me , I can hear it now it’s like it’s waiting for me !
I hope you really enjoy your cocktails xx

That's so lovely that she offered to get you something. I'd definitely take her up on that if your tummy settles down a bit. Glad you're managing a cup of tea.

You made me laugh with the robot hoover coming for you 😂. I was quite tempted to get one but you've made me think twice now imagining a demon hoover stalking me around the house!

I think if it was me, I'd either ring council and MP now or at 2. I imagine 1-2 pm is fairly standard lunch so you've got more chance of catching the right people outside those hours. Or just ring when you feel up to it and you can always leave a message and follow up with an email to ensure there's a paper trail. I basically would try not to worry about hassling people and just keep reminding them they need to sort things for you.

I’m sorry but the robovac thing really makes me laugh! Reminds me of this post I screenshotted from a list article a few years back because I found it so funny!

@Imbluedalale Yes, absolutely! As soon as you can. Just really politely say you wanted to check with them if they had managed to get anywhere with the council. You are worried as your accommodation paid for by a friend ends tomorrow and you haven’t heard anything from the council at all about accommodation.

By the way, the fact you are in this temporary accommodation doesn’t change your status as homeless, fleeing domestic abuse.

Munchyseeds2 · 01/11/2024 12:51

I'm sorry that you aren't feeling great today but I'm not surprised at all, hang in there, eat/ drink what you can....

I think I would start contacting people....just to make sure they don't conveniently forget you on a Friday....

The robot hoover thing makes me giggle! I had one for a short while and loved it....then I had the idea to try the mopping function, let's just say it didn't end well....due to the fact that I may have had a 'moment' and put the water in the wrong place😂😂

So I have an update :
My support worker has just rang me as she has been chasing it up all morning and she said that the council has confirmed that a housing officer is looking at other hotels now and they will get back in contact between 3-4pm.
I don’t know what to feel about that, it feels as though they are waiting until right the last minute before the offices close at 4.30pm .
Am I worrying too much?

She really was lovely , I was being sick and had a knock at the door , it was the cleaner lady and she said I looked really white and if I was ok. She was lovely bless her.

I will definitely not be getting a robot hoover for my house . It’s bright yellow with loads of little legs (I’m assuming these are the bristles) and looks like a giant yellow beetle . And it comes right near your feet so the legs are touching you . It’s a no from me thank you xx

I’ve just completely shocked myself and rang the MP. Dawn answered and I just asked if they had heard anything . She said she rang the council this morning and a manager is looking into it but she hasn’t heard anything since but she will give it an hour and chase them again.
Im not comfortable waiting until 4pm knowing that they close at 4.30 xx

Well done - keep on keeping on!! Today is definitely the day for being the squeaky wheel. I would be calling your support worker on the dot of 4pm if you've not heard anything by then. Other people on this thread are probably better placed to advise if it's also worth contacting anyone else too.

Have more tea, if you're able. That hoover sounds terrifying, I'd not be a fan of that! Nor the walking fridge!

Ruralretreating · 01/11/2024 12:59

Our posts crossed. Glad support worker is on it. Has she spoken to MP office as well? I’d still contact MP office and ask where they got to, and what they are expecting from council in terms of next steps.

I’d also ask support worker if she is willing to see if council might be able to come back any earlier than 3-4, as it’s affecting your mental and physical health, especially after what happened on Tuesday. Maybe she could just call them at 2.

You want to avoid them trying to bounce you into something unsuitable late in the day.

Am also going to PM you.
