You are going forwards, step by painful step, and please trust me you are awesome!

As to what kind of mum - the best kind, ie the kind that is trying her hardest to get well for them, and in the meantime has ensured they are safe and cared for, even thought that means she misses them hugely. You are a good mum, dealing with an awful situation, but a good mum nonetheless.

You have a lot of people fighting in your corner my friend, and the council know that, judging by their replies. I think between the police and MPs and everyone else, they will have to provide something better for you.

Have that bath and then have more tea!

Thank you so much ChoccieCornflake,
That truly means everything you saying that .
I’m going to run a bath and have a cup of tea. Just feel like I’m fighting a never ending battle every single day at the minute xx

You feel like that because you are. It won’t be for ever and you are doing so well.

Does anyone else want a chocolate cornflake cake every time @ChoccieCornflake posts? 😂

Munchyseeds2 · 30/10/2024 18:01

Have a bath, put your pj's on, get into bed and comfy and watch some TV or listen to music, you must be exhausted xx

Tomorrow is another day my lovely

Thank you Munchyseeds2,
I could cry with how lovely you have all been . I felt so many times since yesterday that I’m falling and all of you have helped prop me back up each and every time . I have told myself multiple times today ‘I can’t do this , I can’t do it’ and then I read one of your posts and it gives me strength until I fall again.
Thank you , words cannot express how thankful I am xx

Don’t panic about that. That gives you tomorrow to email the Chief Executive, copying in your MP. Do that first thing in the morning.

For now bath and bed. Please try to eat a little something. It might settle your stomach. Watch Corrie in bed. Xxx

Ok I’ll try not to panic too much but I am and I can’t help it .
Right I’ll do a draft email tonight and send it in the morning and copy in the MP.
I will have a bath and try and eat something from the vending machine .
Thank you xx

Massive hugs! As Apolloneuro said, it feels like you are fighting a massive battle because you are! And doing it very well too!!

If it helps everyone with the cornflake cake cravings, I made them once and they were dreadful! No idea how it's possible to mess up a cornflake cake, but trust me, I did! You really don't want any cornflake cakes associated with me! 😀

Nottogetapenny · 30/10/2024 18:58

If you fall, we will pick you up.🌸 Like you said earlier, each day that passes is a day closer to seeing and getting your children back.
Hopefully tomorrow is a better day, for you A day that someone from the council will understand the importance of putting things in place and doing what they should have done, in the first place. 🌸😘

Ruralretreating · 30/10/2024 19:21

You are being incredibly strong @Imbluedalale . Keep believing in yourself and your spoon as we all do. I would suggest:

  • follow up tomorrow with the MPs assistant to ask if she got anywhere with St Leger homes
  • contact Phoenix as per MP suggestion if not done already
  • email Chief Exec of council as per great suggestion of PP
  • Have you tried any other charities such as Shelter or Women’s Aid?
  • Drink tea, eat whatever you can manage
It really is shocking that you are having to fend for yourself on this and find the strength to do it, rather than receiving the care and support that should be provided. I am outraged. But trying all avenues is worth it to get somewhere safe and suitable
Ruralretreating · 30/10/2024 19:34

Have just been having a look at what council are supposed to do such as assessment of need, and a plan for securing housing. I’m no expert but I suspect they are not following the right steps. Shelter would be able to help. Do give them a call. england.shelter.org.uk/get_help

Imbluedalale · 30/10/2024 19:57

Thank you ChoccieCornflake,
I’ve just had a nice bath and put a vitamin c face mask ok whilst I was layed in there so all fresh now. I’m back to resorting to washing my knickers in the sink again . Oh the joys .
This hotel is actually really lovely and quiet and you can hear all different types of birds on the morning flying over the lake .
lol 😂 I really wanna try your choccie cornflake cake now xx

I’m so desperately sorry that your mum is being so unsupportive. I just can’t understand it. Just know that even if you don’t have it from your family, you do absolutely deserve all the love and support in the world.

the council are so shit with that email - what a cop out! I’ve everything crossed that they will come through. Is there anything we can do? Maybe typing emails that you could copy and paste? Anything that would make your life slightly easier.

Are you able to bid on any more houses this week?

You’re doing incredibly well. Hope you get that bath and try and manage something from the vending machine. Do the travelodge do very basic room service of some sort? I’ve stayed in the Woolwich one with work but can’t remember if they did.

eta I was a bit slow and see you have bid on properties and had a bath so ignore those bits of my message!

Thank you Ruralretreating,
I’ve got my list ready for tomorrow . And I’m going to get that email sent . My support worker has been in contact with phoenix and it would have to be somewhere far away like Essex to go to a refuge and I need to be as close to South Yorkshire as I can be because of all my hospital appointments xx

The domestic abuse act states that when you flee your home and are made homeless . The council has a duty of care in getting you suitable accommodation until you have a home to live in. So I’ll add that into the email Aswell . They are failing my DV needs , disability needs and my
mental health needs xx

@Imbluedalale Having very recently retired from working for a local authority, I can categorically say those that shout the loudest and especially to those in power, get the best outcome for themselves/their relatives. So keep shouting and pestering those who hold the most power. Be a thorn in their sides so much that they give you a house to get you off their backs and make themselves look good.
We are with you all the way.
Meanwhile, here’s a chocolate chip biscuit as I don’t have any chocolate cornflake cakes 🍪

Thank you RaspberryBeretxx,
I’m sometimes not very good with words so if I do an email draft and send it to you but you be able to check it and make sure it sounds right? Or you could type the emails , no pressure tho don’t think you have to but thank you .
I have bid on 3 bourses and I’m trying not to get my hopes up but they have just been built detached houses . So I bid on them hoping I have a chance of getting one of them and there is a lovely woodlands area . I’ll mention it on the email that this is my 4 th week of bidding. The thing is if I can get one of the Bidded houses the council wouldn’t have to try and sort me suitable accommodation every 7 days . It would be sorted .
I have a good 30 minute bath and put a face mask on . And I’m just boiling the kettle . It doesn’t have eating facilities but it does have continental breakfast.

those houses sound awesome, keep on at the council and hopefully they will pull their fingers out.

well done with the bath and face mask. Try and make breakfast tomorrow, you can always wrap a few bits in a napkin to take back up to your room (we always used to make sandwiches for work events!).

Frustrating re Phoenix provision. Hopefully someone will be able to help you properly. I think it’s fair to say to the council you don’t believe they are meeting their statutory duties. I don’t think the fact you have a temporary place to stay means they shouldn’t look at it until Friday, especially given your complex needs. It might be worth asking them to provide a copy of their assessment of need and the proposed housing plan. I don’t know enough about the legislation to say they absolutely should have done this, but at least if you ask and they don’t believe they have to, it flushes that out. It’s also another way of adding some further pressure.

You’re doing amazingly fighting against the odds! I’m so sorry, it must feel like wading through treacle, but you are doing the right things - keep making noise so they can’t just file and ignore you. As for your mum I’m speechless, but mine sends her love to you!

Please try and get some sleep, and eat a tiny something in the morning, even if it’s a biscuit. I love the idea of the ladies here helping check emails for you - that’s a great brigade :)

Through this thread I am so far craving Jaffa cakes and chocolate Cornflake cakes and all kinds of nice things 😂
