To ask if you'd go to hospital and get yourself checked out?

I just fell and rolled my ankle, it feels like it was pretty bad but I'm not home to check yet.

I've grazed my knee and that's bleeding pretty badly but I'm mostly worried about my ankle, I can feel it swelling and it's so painful to bear weight on, but I can walk (slowly and painfully).

I tripped on an uneven paving slab which is why I want to go and get checked out, because I'm aware I could've done something quite serious. Is it OTT of me to go in the morning? I know it's not an a&e right now type of thing but I can also feel that something isn't quite right

Sorry should have read " it will be more comfortable"

I hope it heals as fast as it can, OP. Soft tissue injuries are much harder to diagnose & treat, it sounds like you might have one of those. Only time will tell if you need to chase up the chronic rehabilitation regime (via GP) that would come with soft tissue rupture. My friend broke a ligament in her lower leg maybe 12 years ago; surgery couldn't help her, just time & rest and some physio.

I was confused that you wrote

I'm on crutches and ordered to ice it this afternoon and then go from there, no exercise for two weeks

But then you wrote

I was given no advice at the hospital 😩 literally none, I was in and out within minutes

You said you were ordered to ice it and no exercise, while your posts about arrival, triage, xray & discharge took place over about 4 hours (10:18 to 14:06)? So that's not minutes. Was there a different hospital visit that only took minutes and when you got no advice?

Most of the time I was waiting.

Go in and she says it's not broken, crutches, ice. Then she spends the rest of the 5 minutes I was in there chatting to me about a medication I'm on because she's not come across anyone else on it. I wasn't told whether I should be wrapping it, if I should be doing physio exercises, if I need to chase up further help after a certain amount of time, if I need to seek physio etc., just ice and rest. That's hardly advice I needed from a hospital, I could've found that out myself! They didn't even take a proper look at it or feel it, just xray, wait, gone. Really poor service.

That looks exactly like a bad sprain I had a few years ago. The bruising extended right along the outer edge of my foot eventually. I fully recovered, but it took about 6 weeks till it was back to normal. As a previous poster said, ice every 4 hours, keep it elevated as much as you can. Very gentle exercise gently pointing your toes and slowly rotating your foot (this from a physio I saw) regular pain meds.
Really getting physio advice is key to a full recovery, regarding maintaining strength in the ligaments etc after all the swelling goes away.

Yeah once it's calmed down I'm going to see a physio, I'll have to go private I guess because otherwise I won't get seen until after Christmas I bet!

Glad to hear you are going to a physio, extremely important

Yes I know I keep banging on about this, I'm not a physio but knew a physio who used to lecture on this topic

Ah that looks painful - brings back not so pleasant memories of a similar injury I had years back. Get ready for it to go lots of lovely colours!

I remember the crutches made my hands hurt so much, I didn’t know what hurt more. But yes, rest rest rest as much as you can. I went back to work way too soon.

Private physio is a godsend - I’ve just had three sessions for a rotator cuff tear. I could barely move my shoulder before I went. It’s now feeling better than it has in months. Getting there! All the best and hope it heals well @itwasnevermine
