Just been into the local cemetery walking my dog, and felt uneasy about a man who seemed to be watching me.
He went to one grave down the bottom of the hill, went to another all while watching me, he didn't have any flowers or nothing for anyones grave. He appeared to be talking to himself.
He slowly made his way up towards the hill towards me, at this point my back where to him. I felt really uneasy, so faced towards him and he was staring at me and I felt really intimidated he stopped at another grave and then faced me again staring. I felt is was not quite right and my gut instincted was going, so I decided to abandon my walk with the dog and run back to the car. Got in the car and locked myself in and come back home.

Always trust yourself. Much better to make sure you are safe and to go for the walk elsewhere.

nootcoffee · 01/10/2024 11:09

Don’t go there again

but to me…. he sounds like he was visiting a loved one. And i never bring flowers personally

How many loved ones was he visiting?! He stopped at various graves!

Sounds dodgy op, glad you left.

I always look at the other graves
I look to see how old they were when they died

KimberleyClark · 01/10/2024 11:13

He might have been watching in case your dog had a poo to make sure you picked it up.

too true!

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:16

@nootcoffee he was not reading the headstones, he stopped at various headstones and was watching me, he was down the bottom of the hill I was at the top. Then he made his way towards me and stopped at another grave stone didn't apper to be reading it, then faced me and was staring and I felt I could of been in danger.

He might have been visiting multiple graves, maybe he felt uneasy with you being there to express himself at the graves, you won’t know really.
Just be glad you are safe, it’s always a good idea to trust your gut.

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:18

@KimberleyClark no I don't think it was about dog poo or anything.
I always pick up dog poo where ever i am any way.

He didn't appear to be visiting the graves, he stay there a second or 2 and then walk away, he was watching me intently it was very frightening. Glad I went with my gut instinct.

Definitely sounded dodgy we have to trust our instincts

helpfulperson · 01/10/2024 11:23

Are you allowed to walk your dog there? Some cemeteries don't allow it and if this one doesn't he may have been looking at that.

Whatever if you weren't comfortable you were sensible to leave.

nootcoffee · 01/10/2024 11:25

How did he know you always pick up your dog poo?

I am another one thinking he was just making sure you didn't leave a mess!

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:29

@helpfulperson no there no bylaw in this particular cemetary to say I cant walk the dog. It is used regularly by a lot of dog walkers.

yes i am now too

MissUltraViolet · 01/10/2024 11:30

Maybe he was just visiting a grave then started watching you because he found it odd you chose a graveyard as the place to walk your dog, maybe he thought you wouldn't pick your dogs mess up so was keeping an eye on the situation.

Maybe he was minding his own business and realised you were looking at him a lot so he started looking back at you.

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 01/10/2024 11:31

@nootcoffee I was watching him only because I didn't have my dogs muzzle on and he has bitten and drew blood on a cyclist about 9years ago.
I don't think he would bite now, but I try to keep him away from people he doesn't know.
He is a border collie. They are known for hearding/nipping.

@MissUltraViolet it's not odd to walk my dog in a grave yard, as there is no bylaw in this particular cemetary. I always pick up my mess, and I was only watching him because my dog is reactive, so I needed the man to keep a safe space incase my dog bit out. I had dogs muzzle but he was not wearing it at the time.

I think you’ve answered your own question as to why he was staring at you here!
Your dog might have a local reputation.
He doesn’t sound gentle and fluffy!

Kbroughton · 01/10/2024 11:43

Maybe he was the cyclist your dog bit and drew blood on 9 years ago and was following to ensure it didn't happen again.
