To be disgusted by the Deafening Silence of Celebrities in the wake of Diddy allegations?

I can't be the only one who's deeply troubled by the silence from certain A-list celebrities following the recent allegations against Sean Combs aka Diddy. It's been weeks since the news broke, and the lack of response from some of his closest associates in the industry is, quite frankly, disturbing.

Let's talk about Jay-Z and Beyoncé, for instance. These two have been thick as thieves with him for years. Countless collaborations, public appearances, and even vacations together. And now? Radio silence. Not even a peep about condemning the alleged actions or distancing themselves from him. It's baffling.

Ashton Kutcher is another one who's keeping silent. Given his vocal stance against human trafficking and exploitation, you'd think he'd be the first to speak up. But nope, nothing.

Now, I want to tread carefully when it comes to Usher and Justin Bieber. There's been speculation about their own experiences, and if they were indeed victims themselves, I absolutely respect their right to process this privately. No one should be forced to relive trauma or speak out if they're not ready.

But for those who weren't victimised? Their silence is deafening. How hard is it to release a statement saying, "I don't condone these actions" or "I had no knowledge of these alleged crimes"? Anything would be better than this awkward void.

I'm honestly shocked that there hasn't been more public backlash against these silent celebrities. In an era where "cancel culture" can be triggered by a misplaced tweet, how are they getting a free pass? Having your longtime friend and associate arrested on such serious charges, and you can't even muster up a word of condemnation? It's beyond disappointing.

What do you all think? Am I being too harsh, or is this silence truly inexcusable? Should we, as consumers and fans, be demanding more accountability from these public figures?

This!

I think silence speaks loudly. Their publicists have advised them to keep schtum for good reason.

P Diddy is an incredibly powerful man I have no doubt he / or his minions could quiet someone pretty quickly if necessary. There are some worrying rumours about both Biggie and Tupac and their demises but I'm sure it will all come out eventually.

Public figures do not owe us anything. They share their art with the public we have no right to the rest of their lives

Fear

Celebrities pick and choose what they are vocal about/what they speak up about. They're either all blathering on about why something is wrong or radio silent.

notaurewhatusername · 29/09/2024 21:09

@UmbrellaEllaEllaElla exactly but I wish they would all lose their followers as a result of this as it's completely wrong.

If I had a best mate that was arrested for a crime I'd say SOMETHING.

It's safe to say I won't attend a Beyoncé concert again

What do you want them to say? There's a trial pending, so why do you think they're going to be piping up now?

You speaking for the 67 million people of uk?

Monicaaa · 29/09/2024 21:12

Well given that Jay Z and Beyonce are also being accused by 50 Cent of being collaborators, they are not likely to be raising their head above the parapet atm

notaurewhatusername · 29/09/2024 21:12

@skippy67 well after he was caught on video beating the heck out of cassie I'd expect them to have something to say, like they did with Harvey Weinstein and other public figures

If something is alleged rather than proven I think people have got to be very careful about what they say publicly or face a potential defamation lawsuit. How do you say you believe the victims, while not implying that the suspect is guilty, while acknowledging that you were friends and saying that you had no clue about any of it?

LadyKenya · 29/09/2024 21:14

It's safe to say I won't attend a Beyoncé concert again

And that is totally your prerogative, as is hers, as to whether she speaks out, or not.

I think you may be right in this case. I only vaguely know of him and haven't read about the allegations. i will google now as the op is concerned about it all.

HotPotato123 · 29/09/2024 21:15

I think they’re all shitting themselves. That’s why.

notaurewhatusername · 29/09/2024 21:17

@DrinkFeckArseBrick besting Cassie black and blue is no longer alleged. There's a video of him doing this and also incidents spanning way before this one, why would you continue to associate with someone like that? I'm talking about the things that have been proven already and this to me is just the icing on the cake

BippityBopper · 29/09/2024 21:17

Alot of them probably aren't innocent themselves, that's why.

LBFseBrom · 29/09/2024 21:19

I have now looked him up. It does seem quite vague. I daresay his friends are scared to say anything, and may not know much, so don't judge them for their silence. We'll have to wait and see what comes out at trial, he has refused a plea, claiming he is innocent.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 29/09/2024 21:19

I think choosing to not say anything is saying something.

Failure to condemn something is saying you don't condemn it.

Failing to say you didn't know about something is saying you did know about it.

Silence speaks.

Yes, single, good point thank you. Edited to add I thought he was in prison and had therefore been convicted. If he's in there because he's been denied bail but hasn't been convicted then it makes sense for them to sa nothing. Don't want to jeopardise any trial.

Darkdiamond · 29/09/2024 21:20

They were all at the parties!

Singleandproud · 29/09/2024 21:21

@Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast or they are expecting to be called up at trial and their legal team have told them not to comment.

RhubarbCrumbs · 29/09/2024 21:22

Yeah certainly for Jay Z and Beyoncé I’d say it’s because they’re waiting to be called up for their own involvement.

Singleandproud · 29/09/2024 21:26

They denied his $50 million bail and he is currently on hunger strike too scared to eat anything in case it's poisoned.

I think this case has the potential to be huge and take down / bring light on a large chunk of music / hollywood land. Either at the parties, as victims, at after parties willingly or under duress. I think he weaved a massive web and there will be plenty of others that were at perfectly legitimate networking parties now seemingly guilty by association without the awful things that happened at other ones.

notaurewhatusername · 29/09/2024 21:26

@RhubarbCrumbs does that permit them from saying anything? Genuine question, I didn't know this

We should remember who does say something and make sure they know. I've downloaded both 50 Cent's music and Dione Warwick's. Speak out? Get my business.
