An excoriating letter from Rosie Duffield who resigned today..

Been bad enough for her to resign, I wonder what will happen next. Does she know something we don’t?

Rosie Duffield’s resignation letter in full

Rosie Duffield has quit as a Labour MP, attacking Sir Keir Starmer’s “cruel and unnecessary policies” and the freebie row engulfing the party.

Yup.

He's one of those politicians who could have ended up in either party. It's circumstance, not conviction, that led him to join Labour.

Love folks trying to distance labour from him. Yeah he’s the leader. Has been for years. Voted in by the party,

he’s Labour. He’s who Labour wanted. Enjoy. Same as two homes raynor with her free holidays and free clothes.

they are labour through and through.

User37482 · 28/09/2024 19:35

All that “adults in the room” guff, the education secretary is running around denying that she got 14k for her birthday party.

It’s deeply disappointing, the tories made a mess of it but I wasn’t expecting Labour to be this shit this fast.

I think you're misinterpreting me. I've never been a fan of Labour under Starmer. I didn't vote for them and never would.

So love away.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 28/09/2024 19:36

Thomas Jefferson apparently said,

"The government you elect is the government you deserve."

which is, I feel, rather unfair. There isn't a lot of choice and it is beginning to appear that there is little difference, so what's the point?

Spectre8 · 28/09/2024 19:36

He wnat to take more money from us to pay for things, so we have less money to spend on things we want like clothes...meanwhile he gets free clothes and high quality ones too! He isn't looking inwards and stopping all the MP freebies is he, he and Rachel continue to expense their second home costs at taxpayers expense and then expect us to hand over more money. Taking away WFA whilst having their second home energy bills paid for...I don't know how nay labour supporter can still think that is okay

Disgusting.

You clearly understand nothing about how the Labour works and elects their leader...

And clearly not a typical Labour Party member or supporter

He and his party remain a better choice than the other lot

not for me. Life was better with the other lot

Sadly a lot of people's lives are equally shit under both. And that has led to a deep sense of hopelessness. If he carries on I predict the reform vote to be significantly larger next election.

Yorkshireblond · 28/09/2024 19:38

Just lied all the way though the election campaign, spent years blasting the tories re sleaze and cronyism and then doing the same himself. Remember him saying he would leave himself or a sick relative on a NHS waiting list rather than go pay to go private. We all know now he would likely get the private fees gifted. Just an absolute hypocrite

Domainedor · 28/09/2024 19:39

I don't think he's done anything positive, save for a good response to the riots.

But I do think the country is absolutely fucked, so it's hard to do anything that's positive in the short term.

😂😂😂Because you know how people on MN voted, right....😂😂😂

VeraYin · 28/09/2024 19:41

He's unbelievable. What a hypocrite, to pretend to be a socialist, rob the pensioners, no doubt increase taxes, whilst he loves his luxurious freebies.

My kids are in state schools, but it made me laugh that his kids can apparently only find peace and quiet to study in a freebie deluxe home.

He's making the tories look good and they were pretty dire!

He’s barely been in power and money doesn’t magic itself up… you can’t compare to 14y of Tory austerity and say it’s all the same. Change is not quick, and Labour inherited a right mess, the Tories left us high and dry.

Not everyone tells who they voted for or is truthful about it when they do - making comments like that by the poster ridiculous tbf

Loss of winter fuel allowance for a start.

MyCatHatesSandals · 28/09/2024 19:45

I'm a tactical voter - I tend not to belong anywhere, but when I do vote, it's after carefully weighing sometimes awful alternatives.

A few years ago, I remember listening to Keir Starmer as the incumbent leader of the opposition at PMQs - and was so fucking disappointed at his lack of coherence and charisma. All of his arguments disintegrated, felt insubstantial - and that had nothing to do with the PM at the time, and everything to do with the unforced rhetorical errors that Starmer committed over and over as he stood there. My heart sank. And then I got angry. How the hell did this man get to the position he was? It is a question I continue to ask myself. I still don't know the answer. I cannot believe that we have settled for such mediocrity, even with - especially with - a party that has vocally positioned itself as being superior.

Superior my arse. Honestly, I am furious.
