Who is bu regarding lifts?

Nostalgianostalgic · 28/09/2024 17:12

There are two people. Gordon and Billy.

Billy is giving Gordon a lift regularly. That's fine and Billy doesn't mind at all under the circumstances. Without going into it all it's a reasonably arrangement.

But when Billy goes to pick Gordon up Billy texts Gordon just as he's leaving to say "on way". It's a 2 minute drive away.

When Billy arrives, he's having to wait several minutes for Gordon to come out to the car and is getting annoyed.

Gordon says that Billy should text again to say that he's there, but Billy thinks as he's helping Gordon, that Gordon should be ready and waiting at the door.

Who is bu?

If it’s the same time every day, Gordon should be outside waiting, obviously. He’s an idiot.

HeliotropePJs · 28/09/2024 18:44

Billy should tell Gordon he's tired of waiting, so either Gordon is ready at X o'clock (without any reminder at all), or he can start finding another means of transport. Gordon doesn't care that Billy's annoyed to be kept waiting? He's forfeited this favour.

AlwaysGinPlease · 28/09/2024 18:44

Gordon would be walking or catching the bus if I was Billy.

LightSpeeds · 28/09/2024 18:45

Yeah I've had this with people, before, when I'm picking them up and they're not ready, fucking around for 10 minutes after I've arrived, expecting me to text them AGAIN to say I'm there. It's bloody rude.

byteme1011 · 28/09/2024 18:48

Honestly just tell Gordon to sort out alternative transport - 2 mins (who takes 5 minutes to put shoes on!)

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/09/2024 18:51

JWhipple · 28/09/2024 18:47

Did you post this as a build up to this?

lol. Simpler times. Yup Gordon is a moron!

YellowAsteroid · 28/09/2024 18:51

Gordon is UNreasonable. Billy should stop giving him lifts for a bit.

Dora33 · 28/09/2024 18:52

Billy is giving the lift and wants Gordon to be ready to go at the door when he arrives. He texts 2 minutes beforehand so Gordon knows to be ready.
No reason for Billy to then text again when he is outside Gordon's house.
Gordon is being very unreasonable not to accept that Billy isn't sending a second text.

goodboystepup · 28/09/2024 18:52

Tell Gordon that if he's not standing outside waiting when Billy arrives, Billy will in future drive on and not wait.

AmeliaEarache · 28/09/2024 18:54

Gordon ought to tread carefully if he still wants to benefit from lifts

JudgieJudie · 28/09/2024 18:54

Who are you? Billy or Gordon?

Chester23 · 28/09/2024 18:55

Gordon. I had this situation I stopped giving the lift

Bloom15 · 28/09/2024 18:56

Gordon sounds like a pain in the arse. And I don't even drive

Thursdaygirl · 28/09/2024 18:57

But even if Gordon received a “I’m here/outside” text, how long would he need to actually get himself outside???

RandomMess · 28/09/2024 19:01

Start texting

On my way! If you aren't outside waiting I'll leave without you.

loropianalover · 28/09/2024 19:01

Gordon is in the wrong but Billy is coming out the bigger fool for sitting in the car and waiting like a chauffeur.

I’d just say the lifts are not working out anymore and don’t offer any second chances. If someone doesn’t have the decency to be standing at the front door/in the porch when they know someone is 2 mins away, it’s not my job to educate them on manners or provide a service to them.

wellIguessitwouldberice · 28/09/2024 19:02

Gordon is being unreasonable but Billy should set expectation clearly.

larklane17 · 28/09/2024 19:03

Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life.
( As the song goes.)

CookiePookie · 28/09/2024 19:06

So perhaps one text (when leaving) to say he’s outside (but not really there yet) so once Billy is actually outside Gordon will be coming out. Maybe…

StoatofDisarray · 28/09/2024 19:08

Gordon is being thoughtless and ungrateful.

Notthisone · 28/09/2024 19:11

So Gordon wants 2 messages a day and a lift??
I think Billy could save himself a lot of effort and just say no.
Gordon will have to learn to get ready without prompting to make it to the bus stop on time

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 28/09/2024 19:13

Maybe if Billy tells Gordon "look mate, I'm doing you a favour. I always pick you up at 8.30 and I always text you when I'm 2 minutes away. I'm not texting again. If you're not ready and waiting outside your house when I arrive tomorrow I will drive off and leave without you." And follow through.

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 28/09/2024 19:15

JudgieJudie · 28/09/2024 18:54

Who are you? Billy or Gordon?

She's the wife! (of Billy)

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 28/09/2024 19:16

CookiePookie · 28/09/2024 19:06

Nah. Gordon the Gopher will quickly learn he doesn't mean it and adjust his poor time keeping to suit.
