Labour PIP benefit cuts

Stickytoffeepudding6 · 25/09/2024 21:01

Can someone help me please?

I'm absolutely spiraling. I've just read up about the Labour conference and everything about PIP reforms.

I'm absolutely panicking. I feel like giving up. I'm on PIP with mental health.

I do work. Part time.

Where I live woman next door claims every benifit including pip, claims to have a bad back, every summer I see her carrying crates of budweiser. Been out of work all her life.
4 adults in other house, not one of them has ever worked, and are claming pip etc..., all got arms, all got legs, all got a brain refuse them. All go socialing down the pub and that and go on annual holidays.
Theres a woman further up the road, nowt wrong with her and never had a job in the 30 years i've known her, watches wide screen tv at night.
Another woman who has had 7 children, not a single one of them work Her children are 19-30 odd years old. Her 2 youngest sons are 19 and 21 never had a job claim all benifits.
If people can work then they should work, where is the pride sitting at home if your able.

Yeah, sure right. She'll have a plethora of things the matter with her that she's not telling you about.

That she's stupid enough to say it's a bad back is beside the point

Differentstarts · 26/09/2024 16:08

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:04

@Differentstarts I just don't understand how she claims to have a bad back, but then is seen carrying crates of bud into the house.

Because she's feeding you bullshit and probably finds it funny because you fall for it or doesn't want to share her actual medical history with you. I have multiple physical and mh conditions some, people are aware of others I keep to myself as people are judgemental. For e.g. if your diagnosis is paranoid schizophrenia I would also be telling people I don't work because of my back

If this were the case, going by your posts, what would Labour do?

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:11

@EasternStandard if people can work then they should work.

A disability only has to affect someone for 50% of the time for them to be eligible to claim.
People with disabilities are allowed to have good days... and they are the days when people see them out doing stuff, which then leads others to assume they are committing fraud.

EasternStandard · 26/09/2024 16:13

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:11

I get the line but I'm not sure what Labour can actually do policy wise to say get the person you describe back to work v posters on here who have also described the reason for getting what they do

I think they could use a carrot type policy and encourage people, or a stick but that won't be welcomed by everyone

What a lot you know about your neighbours, including their disabilities and their nocturnal activities @IveGotToGoToMeDads. It must be exhausting for you fitting in work around that surveillance.

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:15

@XenoBitch They seen well enough 100% of the time to me, its one big party round here.
I see these people day and night.
They go on annual holidays, they go to the pub, socialing with friends, they shop and carry heavy loads into there house. Believe me not one of them can not undertake some kind of work.

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:18

@ilovesooty like I said I have lived round here 20 years and there is no excuss why these fit and able people should not do some kind of work.

ilovesooty · 26/09/2024 16:18

EasternStandard · 26/09/2024 15:53

There was a full stop there. You can look up their definition if you are interested.

Labour is linked to unions and have already shown priority with payments.

If your sympathy stops for pensioners because you know some people and you don't care about those on basic state pensions who are losing the WFA, then the same lack of sympathy could come round for benefit claimants

Do point out where I've said I don't care about people on basic pensions who've had the WFA withdrawn.

TigerRag · 26/09/2024 16:19

How do some people know so much about their neighbours and whether they can really work? Yes I know my neighbour has PTSD but nothing more. (Because it has nothing to do with me)

@EasternStandard if people can work then they should work.

Absolutely but a lot genuinely can't. I work part time but the reality is I'm a pretty shit employee. I take a significant amount of time of work due to illness, appointments or when iv been hospitalised, or surgeries. This year alone iv been admitted 4 times apart from one which was for 3 days for surgery all the others where over 2 weeks stay. Others have to then step up and cover these shifts. And that's just my physical health. When it's my mental health and I'm manic, suicidal or worse homicidal it's a nightmare. And theirs lots of people a lot more ill then me you really want to be around them walking on eggshells when their having an episode and they turn violent. Covering their shifts most weeks because this is the reality.

EasternStandard · 26/09/2024 16:22

If there are people such as those in the pp what happens next?

Idk how you act punitively towards some and not others

Any ideas, maybe there are some

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:25

@Differentstarts I know a lot of people are genuine with illness and I send my best wishes to you, and well done for doing part time with all your conditions.

ilovesooty · 26/09/2024 16:25

You've had a lot of time to spy on them and compile your evidence. If you think they're claiming fraudently and you have years worth of evidence, report it. I wonder what those "nice people" would think of a neighbour who is pleasant to their faces yet badmouths them online?

Differentstarts · 26/09/2024 16:26

And just to add to this I currently have 9 consultants across 3 trusts I'm under the cmht iv been sectioned multiple times and I still had to fight to get pip even with all these medical professionals backing me 100s and 100s of pages of medical evidence. So I can absolutely guarantee you that people are not getting pip for back ache

IveGotToGoToMeDads · 26/09/2024 16:28

@ilovesooty i'm not bad mouthing anyone, like I said my neighbours are all lovely people.
I have broached the subject of work with some of them in conversation. Not one of them got offended.
How is suggesting someone works bad mouthing?

It is an answer based on your posts. If you don't want them to come across as they do feel free to not prioritise what you did.

You displayed your views and where your priorities lay for pensioners.

Row back all you want, you obviously don't want to be seen as you have been due to your posts.

EasternStandard · 26/09/2024 16:39

Whatever the threshold was - and it is too low - there'd be whining entitled pensioners moaning about something being taken away.

Take this post. It could have been about many pensioners suffering over winter instead, which they will
