To think this is disgusting?

Adult male takes a shower over the bath with the plug in. Gets out and tops the water up to make a bath for the children.

Aibu - yes you're being unreasonable as this saves water.

No - it's disgusting to have your children bathing in their dad's shower water.

Nb: at least four public hairs were spotted floating around in the water.

This is disgusting and unnecessary.

Turnups · 19/09/2024 09:52

Public hairs not ideal, but would you be so worried if they were hairs from another part of the body? Doesn’t sound like a huge deal to me, unless he was really filthy or hadn’t showered/bathed for days.

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 19/09/2024 09:54

Nasty. I wouldn't do it.

Yes it's gross. I'm constantly baffled by this website. 90% of the time people are tremendous germaphobes who are absolutely ridiculous about cleanliness, except when it comes to wallowing in someone else's dirty lukewarm bathwater, then it's party time. Madness.

I agree with the above from @MonsteraMama. If you're that strapped for cash you can't afford hot water for everyone, then everyone gets a short shower or use a bucket (for the littles to bathe in).

NCagainandagainandagain · 19/09/2024 09:54

Actually ,am very laid back about a lot of MN germ phobias but I think this is revolting 🤢

Theseventhmagpie · 19/09/2024 09:54

Family germs but still grim in my view. Don’t get me started on public swimming pools 🤮

HauntedbyMagpies · 19/09/2024 09:54

Revolting. Whether it's a man or a woman. The dirt, bacteria & sweat doesn't evaporate as soon as the water hits it! That's all in the bath water, yuck 🤢

Mymanyellow · 19/09/2024 09:55

Just so unnecessary. If you’re that concerned about saving water have a shower. I wouldn’t get in someone’s dirty bath water so I wouldn’t let kids do either.

rainbowstardrops · 19/09/2024 09:47

Absolutely gross 🤢
Why don't you just pull the plug out and run them some fresh water?

I did

🤮🤢 absolutely gross.
I can’t believe some people think this is ok.
Why would anybody do this?
unbelievable !

Frozenberries · 19/09/2024 09:59

I’m amazed that so many people think this is fine. Bathing in dad’s dirty shower water with his pubes floating about- it sounds gross. I’m not surprised the kid wouldn’t get in.

bringincrazyback · 19/09/2024 09:59

OriginalUsername2 · 19/09/2024 09:42

Good for him! Would you get in water with your dads pubes floating around?

I agree. It's just a bit gross.

Mindymomo · 19/09/2024 10:00

Personally I wouldn’t do it, but with 3 adult males living here, my bathroom has always got hairs of all descriptions everywhere. What I hate most is one adult DS shaves his head over the toilet, whether the seats up or down, he claims to clean up, but there’s still hair everywhere.

Men shed pubic hair. Bro h a woman I have a lot less!

Sorry I think this is absolutely disgusting.

If you don't have a problem with it bath/shower your children first and then jump in after them! So many people don't put their children first.

Snoken · 19/09/2024 10:01

I can't see the point in bathing if the water isn't clean. I'd rather just not bathe at at all and have my own dirt on me than bathe in someone elses dirty water. If it's a water saving thing then I'd rather have a 60 second shower than sit in someone elses dirty water.

ThanksHunPenneys · 19/09/2024 10:02

planAplanB · 19/09/2024 09:36

Kids sitting in dad's water from his shower is way more gross than an adult sitting in the kids bath water.

Disagree! One is not worse than the other, they are both equally fine.
God help those of us who had to share bath water with the whole family 🙄

honeypancake · 19/09/2024 10:03

Seriously? To save a bathtub of water ?? There is used soap residual, dead skin and scum floating around. I would not take such a bath after washing myself let alone after someone else. Fresh water, teaches kids hygiene too.

sunsetsandboardwalks · 19/09/2024 10:05

Personally it gives me the heebie jeebies but everyone on MN seems to be totally okay with people sharing bath water 🤢

EffortlesslyInelegant · 19/09/2024 10:07

idnhxun · 19/09/2024 09:31

I actually shower before i take a bath. And wash the bath before kid takes a bath

Do you boil wash your towels before and after and then again just to be sure? And I hope you change your bedding daily. Maybe twice daily. Boil everything. Can't be too careful.

Completelyjo · 19/09/2024 10:08

It’s no different to the father being in the bath with them, which is also fine.

You would have been horrified if you'd been us as children. We didn't have a bathroom, tin bath used to be brought into the kitchen once per week, adults bathed first, then children in order of age apart from babies who were bathed in the kitchen sink
