Adult male takes a shower over the bath with the plug in. Gets out and tops the water up to make a bath for the children.

Aibu - yes you're being unreasonable as this saves water.

No - it's disgusting to have your children bathing in their dad's shower water.

Nb: at least four public hairs were spotted floating around in the water.

I wouldn’t even do this with my own shower water. Ugh ugh ugh.

Prisonpillow · 19/09/2024 09:32

Absolutely fine and pretty common I’d have thought.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 19/09/2024 09:33

YABU. It sounds fine.

planAplanB · 19/09/2024 09:33

This is totally different to sharing bath water!
We share bath water in this household but the rule is that the adult goes last, after the kids.

That’s incredibly disgusting. If he’s so worried he can bath in the kids water after they’ve used it.

RhubarbAndFlustered · 19/09/2024 09:34

"We all used to share bathwater growing up!"

Hmm.. Yeah. Not really a good argument for it for me. There were lots of things we did back in the olden days that we know is gross and nasty that we don't do anymore.

My DSis has a BF who is as tight as a ducks arse and sis, him and the two kids had a bathing order with one bath full of water to be used for all 4.

Pipecleanerrevival · 19/09/2024 09:20

Depends how dirty he is. It’s like kids taking a bath together. It does save water and it’s also kind of gross. I imagine lots of families do this.

You've not read the OP properly.

If everyone is so worried about saving water, shower everyone with a time limit.

Using bath water after kids isn't any less disgusting IMO.

What about sharing with the kids though? As in, at the same time.

Pippa12 · 19/09/2024 09:36

Turned my stomach that. We are hardly short of water in the UK after this bloody summer so unless he’s seriously on the breadline that’s absolutely gross.

Kids sitting in dad's water from his shower is way more gross than an adult sitting in the kids bath water.

YANBU 🤢

planAplanB · 19/09/2024 09:37

Well, the 8 year old refused to get in when he saw the pubic hairs.

DillDanding · 19/09/2024 09:38

It’s fine. Not really sure what the point of it is, but it’s fine.

idnhxun · 19/09/2024 09:38

If you really want to save water, just wipe down. It'll be more hygienic than this!

lovenotwar149 · 19/09/2024 09:40

I dont like the sound of it personally ,and havent/wouldnt do it. Is it awful? Prob not!

Octavia64 · 19/09/2024 09:41

I wouldn't do it,

We did do it as a family (reuse bath water) when I was growing up.

More common in the past.

Imisscoffee2021 · 19/09/2024 09:42

I Remember sharing bath water. But the rule usually is kids go first , then grown ups

Good for him! Would you get in water with your dads pubes floating around?

CanwetalkaboutRalph · 19/09/2024 09:44

Gross 🤮

Really? Kids piss in the bath as well as the (eloquently put previously) poo crumbs.

MonsteraMama · 19/09/2024 09:26

Oh god not this again. I remember the sharing bathwater thread where I learned how many people are comfortable jumping into their significant other's human soup, and now we've got kids bathing in their dad's pube broth.

Yes it's gross. I'm constantly baffled by this website. 90% of the time people are tremendous germaphobes who are absolutely ridiculous about cleanliness, except when it comes to wallowing in someone else's dirty lukewarm bathwater, then it's party time. Madness.

😂😂😂 funniest description of mumsnet i've seen in a while

MummyJ36 · 19/09/2024 09:47

Ew no no no!!

How about the child takes a shower and the dad has the bath in the kids shower water?? I’d say this is the only way to do it if saving water really is that important.

But absolutely not the child taking a bath in his dads dirty shower water 🤢

rainbowstardrops · 19/09/2024 09:47

Absolutely gross 🤢
Why don't you just pull the plug out and run them some fresh water?
