To think this is disgusting?

Adult male takes a shower over the bath with the plug in. Gets out and tops the water up to make a bath for the children.

Aibu - yes you're being unreasonable as this saves water.

No - it's disgusting to have your children bathing in their dad's shower water.

Nb: at least four public hairs were spotted floating around in the water.

OP posts:
adayofsuns · 19/09/2024 11:38

I come from a culture that showers in a wet room outside of the bath before having the shared bath. The thought of bathing in someone else’s shower leavings is 😵‍💫

StolenChanel · 19/09/2024 11:39

I can’t believe some of the comments I’m reading 🤮😂

DiscoBeat · 19/09/2024 11:39

There's your answer - they're for public use!

NB I think this is off, too. It's not really saving much water anyway.

Curiossir · 19/09/2024 11:22

Cripes. I used to share a house with 3 lads. We would fight over who would have to take the fourth bath in the same water. Still alive!

C'mon, spill... which one of the Young Ones are you? (Showing my age there. 😄)

DemonicCaveMaggot · 19/09/2024 11:44

I wouldn't like that at all.

Someone from Wessex Water came around and fitted our shower with a low flow head for free and gave us a four minute shower timer. I turn off the water while getting soaped up and then use my four minutes to wash it all off. I would have thought you would use less water doing that for everyone than filling a bath with shower water.

Isn't the water cold by the time the children get to it?

SpidersAreShitheads · 19/09/2024 11:45

It wouldn’t be my preference but it’s a very long way from being “disgusting”. Sone of the comments on here are wild 😂

Lots of us grew up sharing bath water because of ££ and sometimes practical reasons - it took ages to get enough hot water to fill a bath with our old antiquated heating system. We were all perfectly clean. No one was walking around smothered in adult pubes 😂😂😂

We all tend to take showers in our household now other than DS who loves a good soak in the bath so the subject never comes up. But the DC certainly shared a bath when they were little and I don’t see how that’s any different to what the OP is describing.

Times change, if you’d asked this question when I was growing up I think you’d have had a lot of people confused about what the issue was!

Singleandproud · 19/09/2024 11:46

You can tell none of us use immersion heaters anymore.

If you shower / bath regularly how dirty are you really? If unless you have eczema or other skin condition does it even matter? Apart from the 'grim' thought in your head, I can't imagine it makes any real difference in how clean you actually get especially if you share or use used towels afterwards.

We might have a lot of rain but we really don't have clean water to waste, all that ran doesn't necessarily make it into the aquifers but flows straight out to sea.

SarahSosej · 19/09/2024 11:46

This is so gross tell him to take a shorter shower if he is worried about wasting water.

theDudesmummy · 19/09/2024 11:47

I grew up a place where there was sometimes no water, I now live in a place where water is free! It's such a pleasure!

Namerchangee · 19/09/2024 11:49

I think it’s a bit gross. I like bathing my kids in fresh water so it’s a nice experience for everyone. Why shouldn’t they have fresh water instead of grubby man water.

followmyflow · 19/09/2024 12:01

people, seriously, no. the dad taking a shower means all the dirt that was washed off of him is now in the puddle of water in the bath. using that water for the kids baths is just disgusting. seriously, and also, im the least squeamish person about pubic hair and i still wouldnt want them floating around my bath ffs.

AlexaSetATimer · 19/09/2024 12:05

Exactly. ‘Here kids, rinse yourself off in what I’ve cleaned from my knob and arsecrack’. Nice.

This is what grosses me out. Poo crumbs, cheese fondue, wee drips. If you wouldn't lie on a sheet with skid marks, don't expect your kids to bathe in water with male arse crack detritus. And yes, he should know how to wipe properly but let's face it, many men need a shower to be fully clean.

mrsCtheRed · 19/09/2024 12:07

No, just no 🤢

CheeseyOnionPie · 19/09/2024 12:09

That is a mankiest thing I’ve heard in a long while.

cocog · 19/09/2024 12:10

That’s horrible 🤮

MrsSunshine2b · 19/09/2024 12:11

If he's showering on a regular basis I don't see the issue, it saves energy. We often share water but will usually put DD in first in a shallow lukewarm bath as she doesn't like it hot, then top up with hot water.

bazoom · 19/09/2024 12:13

BabyOwlinthePlumeria · 19/09/2024 09:23

And when everyone is done with their bath you can use it to make soup.

😂😂

thisfilmisboring123 · 19/09/2024 12:15

Ewww nope, not a chance in hell I’m sharing bath water with anyone and I wouldn’t expect my kids to do it either.

bazoom · 19/09/2024 12:15

This is minging. When did a man last not pee in the shower?

SwingTheMonkey · 19/09/2024 12:19

One can shower daily and still be washing off grim stuff 24 hours later. And it’s nothing to do with being male. A woman showing will be washing off discharge, sweat, possibly semen if they’ve had sex in between. Utterly disgusting to put kids in the bath to wash in water that contains the above.

InSpainTheRain · 19/09/2024 12:19

That's rank - unless you are so poor you can't afford the water or to heat it.

Viviennemary · 19/09/2024 12:19

I think bathing in anybody else's dirty bathwater is beyond disgusting. Can't believe is a thing people do.

Freshflower · 19/09/2024 12:22

I can see one side where it might be dirty, depending on how dirty he is. But on the other side it does save on water and gas etc. Some people share baths together so not a huge issue

K0OLA1D · 19/09/2024 12:23

InSpainTheRain · 19/09/2024 12:19

That's rank - unless you are so poor you can't afford the water or to heat it.

Then it's magically no longer rank?

ThatsNotMyTeen · 19/09/2024 12:23

Ew it’s a no from me.
