Will Huw get a worse/lighter sentencing today because of his fame?

YABU ... Worse sentence

So sickening

Arafon · 16/09/2024 10:45

If there is any chance of prison you have to come prepared so case doesn't mean much

LostTheMarble · 16/09/2024 10:49

BIossomtoes · 16/09/2024 10:44

No, it’s six. I just checked.

I was going from The Mirror but they could be misinformed.

He won’t go to jail. It’ll be a suspended sentence or community order.

His expensive KC will say, 40 years at the BBC, voice of the nation, terrible error, mh issues, contrite, lost his job and his reputation. All wrapped up in legalese. I'll say suspended for 5 years.

Pedallleur · 16/09/2024 10:55

BIossomtoes · 16/09/2024 10:12

He won’t need to work again. He’s old enough to claim his BBC pension now. We’ll never hear of him again after this.

depends if he is in a Divorce court. no doubt Mrs edwards is waiting to see what the sentence is. But they wont be on any glitzy nights out or in the BBC box at RAH

Lougle · 16/09/2024 10:58

If the person who sent them only got 12 months suspended, I doubt the person receiving them would get more. Especially as they will argue that him saying 'don't send those pictures' shows that he didn't want them (although it isn't an excuse, nor does it give him an 'out').

AnyFucker · 16/09/2024 10:58

Why the fuck does he still look so arrogant 😖

OrdsallChord · 16/09/2024 10:59

crumblingschools · 16/09/2024 09:31

@ClairDeLaLune but the person supplying the images didn’t get custodial sentence (not sure why)

Ugh, didn't know that.

viques · 16/09/2024 11:00

Whatever his sentence we all know that he will get a book out of it, followed by a series of tv interviews, a tv special, then when he has done enough public weeping, self flagellation and kneeling on sharp stones saying how he has changed he will be lined up for a slot in I’m a Celebrity GMOOH, Celebrity Big Brother, Celebrity Mastermind, Celebrity Bake Off, Celebrity Masterchef etc

A whole new career awaits. The media loves redemption.

MorrisZapp · 16/09/2024 11:06

Sepoctnov · 16/09/2024 10:37

Evil, disgusting man. Seeing his smug evil face makes me feel sick.

Hopefully they'll lock him up but my money is on a suspended sentence.

This is a vile sickness in society...what on earth is the answer.

If you want people who download abuse images to serve significant jail time then the answer is giving at least ten percent more of your wages in tax each month to build and staff the huge volume of new prisons we'd need to build to accommodate them all.

It's unusual for anyone to serve jail time for downloading images, regardless of the category or volume.

KnickerlessParsons · 16/09/2024 11:07

He might not be eligible for his pension if he was sacked.

This is pure fantasy.

quietlycontent · 16/09/2024 11:07

Honestly his defense are currently saying he had trouble making descisions - which I may be able to understand but we all saw him holding down a very stressful high pressure job. He had the means to get himself help and he didn't.

I just got really cross about that

Not for this they don’t. Prince Andrew wasn’t even charged and he’s been hidden away like a pariah. Rolf Harris never saw media attention again bar being papped in an unsavoury light. Even Phillip Schofield looks like he’ll never recover his glistening career for his morally grey choices of just old enough affair partner. Huw has been caught in much worse circumstances, reading what’s being said in court is sickening. He’ll never come back from this.

SerafinasGoose · 16/09/2024 11:09

The maximum sentence is only 12 months anyway. The supplier didn't receive a custodial sentence so it's doubtful he will.

But that decision will be made on the basis of legal precedent and the particular circumstances of the case. His 'fame' is irrelevant.

Exactly.

nosmartphone · 16/09/2024 11:16

And as per my user name suggests..

What a complete &&S. He's somebody who shoudn't have had a smartphone in their hands. I do believe this is the danger with them. Looking at things you would normally never have got involved with or been exposed to.

On a factual basis, I don't believe he should receive a bigger sentence that the guy who actually sent them to him. The term 'making' images is quite misleading . Edwards didn't make anything. He looked at them. (that's not right in any sense of the word but it's something I stress to my kids as to why I don't want them having a smartphone - someone sends you a picture of explicit sex between two minors and you're in possession of child pornography)

I’m not so sure, the difference is that H.E. has admitted it, like John Barrowman who is now creeping back into the world. The world loves a repentant sinner, entire religions have been built on this premise.

TuVuoiFaLamericano · 16/09/2024 11:17

He better get jail time. One of the children was between 7-9 years old. Absolutely vile man.

Defence are playing the mental health card. Except depression doesn't make you a paedophile.

I doubt there'll be redemption for a convicted paedophile. No-one will want to be commercially associated with him.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 16/09/2024 11:21

can people please not use the term "child pornography"

Phillip Schofield admitted what he did, but just like HE it’s all about his mental health and how very sad he is about himself. Admitting something doesn’t mean actually admitting it, not when it’s full of ‘but but but, me me me’. And as I said, PS didn’t actually do anything illegal, cruel to his family and used a young man but not illegal. Phil was to ITV what Huw was to the BBC, if the former can lose everything over bad morality then the latter as a convicted child sex offender will be utterly buried.

Mymanyellow · 16/09/2024 11:24

When will his sentence be known. As far as I’m aware the hearing started at 10.

nauticant · 16/09/2024 11:26

As far as I can tell at the moment his legal team are pleading in mitigation before sentencing.

Yeah that poster is not in touch with reality. A convicted pedophile on I’m a Celeb? Not a chance
