Will Huw get a worse/lighter sentencing today because of his fame?

As expected. I fucking hate our court system.

viques · 16/09/2024 12:59

6 months suspended for two years.

YellowphantGrey · 16/09/2024 12:59

He will be vulnerable in prison?

Any more vulnerable than the children in the naked pictures and videos he enjoyed watching?

GoldThumb · 16/09/2024 12:59

Suspended sentences for CSA cases is the norm unfortunately.

Yet people get custodial sentences for tweets.

Priorities are all sorts of fucked up

footgoldcycle · 16/09/2024 12:59

Jacopo · 16/09/2024 12:58

6 months suspended for 2 years

In others words nothing

offyoujollywelltrot · 16/09/2024 12:59

A slap on the fucking wrist basically.

LostTheMarble · 16/09/2024 12:59

Posted too soon, suspended sentence of 6 months.

JohnCravensNewsround · 16/09/2024 12:59

The right sentence in line with the guidelines.

I'm listening to the live BBC feed and the amount of "mitigating circumstances" being quoted about him being in a 'perfect storm' at the time, that he suffers with depression, that he wanted to take his own life, the worry about the impact on his family, mental health issues that have gone on for a while now, ONLY a low risk threat going forward, the fact he had a difficult relationship with his own father, he'll be vulnerable in prison (?!?!?!)...blah blah blah. Poor Huw.

Boo fucking hoo. He's a paedophile and needs a custodial. End of.

100% agree with this. I can't believe he got a suspended sentence! Why is he being given special treatment?!

ToniFire · 16/09/2024 13:00

A slap on the wrist for something so heinous, but woe betide if you say some hurty words on social media - you'll be banged up for several years.

What a joke.

thebastardsgotme · 16/09/2024 13:01

Bloody ridiculous, although totally expected

OrbitingTheEarth · 16/09/2024 13:01

Totally ridiculous sentence, should have been custodial

Gettingbysomehow · 16/09/2024 13:01

What a piece of SHIT yet the same system gives single mums a prison sentence for not having a tv licence. It's a bloody joke.

@VisitationRights

The scum who sent him the images got away with a suspended sentence so I expect the same for this waste of space.

I think that a suspended sentence is fairly standard in this type of case. Look at the sentencing remarks for the BBC producer I just posted. It's the same kind of case.

I've just seen that the Magistrate in the middle of sentencing remarks for Huw Edwards has said

Mr Goldspring said: “I accept that your mental health at the relevant time and you had no memory of viewing any particular image and do not know whether you did. “You did not store the images, you did not keep them and you did not distribute them.”

This is building up to a suspended sentence.

He had no memory of looking at them??? 😳
Really?
(But messages suggested he was complicit in wanting to see more of them?)

LlynTegid · 16/09/2024 13:01

JohnCravensNewsround · 16/09/2024 12:59

The right sentence in line with the guidelines.

So the guidelines should be changed.

littlebirdieblu · 16/09/2024 13:00

100% agree with this. I can't believe he got a suspended sentence! Why is he being given special treatment?!

He’s not. The sentence is in line with the supplier of the images’ sentence. Anything harsher would have been special treatment.

LittleBobbyDazzler · 16/09/2024 13:01

He was never going to get put in prison let's face it, but even if this is within sentencing guidelines it is a slap in the face to child SA victims across the country.

Zanatdy · 16/09/2024 13:02

Just before I saw the sentence I googled Alex Williams and saw he got a suspended sentence so knew Huw wouldn’t get sent to prison if he didn’t

viques · 16/09/2024 13:02

deeahgwitch · 16/09/2024 12:58

This 💯
He is pathetic.

You forgot the harm to his children. Bless.

Seems the fact that he was in contact with the person who supplied the images for 11 years doesn’t count more than the fact that since he was found out he hasn’t received any more images, surprise surprise!

YellowphantGrey · 16/09/2024 13:02

So another paedophile walks free.

Fantastic.

Even in cases like this, men STILL can't own their behaviour, there's always a fucking excuse

MorrisZapp · 16/09/2024 13:03

LlynTegid · 16/09/2024 13:01

So the guidelines should be changed.

Who will pay for all the new prisons?

MillyMollyMandHey · 16/09/2024 13:03

What a massive affront to CSA victims that he gets 25 treatment sessions. You can't treat evil.

Arrogant Prick.

Sinisterdexter · 16/09/2024 13:03

Former BBC employee is told off for being a very naughty boy.

Sickening.

AgileGreenSeal · 16/09/2024 13:04

He will probably get a lighter sentence but imho they should throw the key away. 😡

viques · 16/09/2024 13:04

JohnCravensNewsround · 16/09/2024 12:59

The right sentence in line with the guidelines.

The right sentence in line with the guidelines and a bloody good lawyer who has been worth every penny.
