Men with boats cheat

The subject says it all!

I’ve long believed that men only buy boats to use them as floating love shacks. My friend thinks I’m being ridiculous and says boats are just a great lifestyle choice. Recently, she told me her husband is thinking of buying a boat, and I couldn’t help but give her that look! She insists he’d never cheat, but in my experience, every man I’ve known who had a boat wasn’t exactly faithful.

Honestly, if my husband bought one, I might even consider it grounds for divorce!

So, am I being unreasonable? Can men own boats without it leading to adultery, or am I totally right to be suspicious? Should men with boats just wear a t-shirt that says, "Don’t trust me?"

(For the record, this doesn’t apply to fishermen making a living or people who live on boats!)

It isn't helping that I watched Shirley Valentine the other day and that boat.

IRL that would make most people seasick.

DonnaBanana · 16/09/2024 09:52

I don’t know about boats as I live far inland but I do know that the men at our local men’s shed were once caught having an orgy (with each other!) so I am suspicious of “men’s sheds” now. They might be aimed at lonely men but some people really need to stay lonely

Its 100% true. Tom Howard and Avril Rolf were at it on the Fying Fish whilst poor old Jan was having to fend off the advances of slimy Ken Masters. ⛵️

Howard's Way rather than Triangle? (Well and truly a foghorn blast from the past.)

Threewheeler1 · 16/09/2024 09:56

Ooooh, there's a tiny boat in my Mum's local harbour called 'Greased Weasel'...it's suddenly all making sense...

viques · 16/09/2024 09:57

Canoodling in a canoe?

Bonking in a barge?

Doing it in a dinghy?

YesYesYesYessing in a yacht?

Slap and tickle in a sub?

Wemetatascoutcamp · 16/09/2024 09:58

Trust me no one is getting lured onto my husbands boat as a love shack 🙈
Now if they say they’re taking up crossfit then you should be worried…..

Rubydoobydoobydoo · 16/09/2024 10:00

According to those people I know who ever owned a boat big enough to shag in — and even then, headroom and narrow bunks would make it less than comfortable — it was a ridiculously expensive passion. Far cheaper for any man who wants to stray to find a friend with a boat, tell his wife that he's going sailing/ fishing/ racing with Roger and then taking his paramour to a Premier Inn where at least there's a king-size bed and hot shower.

Crunchymum · 16/09/2024 10:00

I think you are wrong.

Boats obviously = serial killer not philanderer.

SweetSakura · 16/09/2024 10:01

I keep getting emails alerts about this and have obviously read "fox in socks" too often recently because I keep reading "Men with Boats Cheat" like it's a line from a Dr Seuss book Grin

😂

As my granny would always say, a bored man will think up trouble.

A group of bored men = orgy.

She would have loved to have know she might have been correct.

smallsilvercloud · 16/09/2024 10:07

After watching Shirley Valentine, I wouldn't trust a Greek man with a boat! 😂

TorroFerney · 16/09/2024 10:09

Beekeepingmum · 15/09/2024 22:09

Who on earth is using an allotment for a love-shack?

Oh you poor naive fool. That’s why there is always such a huge waiting list.

TorroFerney · 16/09/2024 10:12

I’ve got the Howard’s way theme tune in my head now. That was boats I think? The chap who wore the blouson leather jacket was always a bit seedy but that was more the jacket. So is that a sub category, men with boats who wear a blouson leather jacket ?

Not even if he's Tom Conti?

That’s why they call it the tool shed!

OhmygodDont · 16/09/2024 10:42

Now we can move on to lorry drivers. Long haul truckers 😬👀

DOBARDAN · 16/09/2024 10:46

I read your headline, OP, and then began to think about all the men I have known who own boats, and yes, they have all cheated. Mind you, I know men without boats who have cheated too.

PattiSmithsPattis · 16/09/2024 11:04

I knew a boat builder, very prestigious place on the Thames. Him and his wife were swingers.

My ex worked fixings boats (different time and place) and he was just an arsehole

justasking111 · 16/09/2024 11:19

Sailing boats the berths are too narrow for hanky panky unless he has a fore or aft cabin, then you bang your head sitting up. It's got to be a big gin palace if you want comfortable romancing.

I've known newbies get sea sick on the pontoons.

I'd say a nice caravan was a better bet. It doesn't smell fusty, of fuel, the crockery will be cleaner.

But you can't beat sailing for that sense of peace, rush of adrenaline if you're into it.

I'd say men on golfing holidays get more action, well according to them they do.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 16/09/2024 11:34

Time to quietly confess.

I'm a married man with a boat 😲. (A boat came with the house.)
Don't think it would ever be a cheating enabler though - it's not exactly a gin palace and I suspect any rumpy-pumpy would be both rather uncomfortable and very visible 🤣

Rubydoobydoobydoo · 16/09/2024 11:42

@justasking111 Exactly. You need something approaching a £million vessel if you want to be able to sit up without concussing yourself and without having to negotiate a 2'6" single berth with a high wooden side so you don't fall out. And where do you shag in a small boat? If you're moored in a marina, someone's going to notice the activity — because in a small boat enthusiastic shagging will be heard and the boat'll be rocking. And if you're moored out in the open sea your options will be limited because the weather and possibly the tide will need to be just right. Too rough or windy and you could slip anchor while doing the deed — and it would obviously rule out anyone inclined to seasickness.

Hmmm. That is clearly a Water Sprite XL5050. They are well known for having concealed inflatable bags that can expand to create a self-contained 12 berth yacht, with helipad and bar.

A bit like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (fnarrr) could change.

Caroparo52 · 16/09/2024 11:46

No idea where you are coming from here. Could dwife not go on boat too?

bifurCAT · 16/09/2024 11:49

Could we look at the other side of this and say "women are turned on by men with boats"?

Your average man might not be getting attention and the chance to cheat, but throwing a boat into the mix and suddenly he has options???

GasPanic · 16/09/2024 11:49

There are probably cheaper ways of doing it than buying a boat.
