Husband kicking off over bath

Seriouslyhowcouldyounot · 15/09/2024 18:37

So my husband loves a bath. Loves it!!! But we have one toilet in our house. For a while now I’ve said the second you’re ready to get in let me go to the loo so as to give him the longest time in there before I’m busting again.

tonight it’s all kicked off as I said can you not lock the door as I might be busting. Firstly to fully disclose we’ve been drinking so it goes through me like water, secondly I have a suspected water infection so when I need to go I NEED TO GO. He went nuts saying what’s changed in the 15 years and I should be able to wait 25 mins. Yes maybe I should, maybe I can wait an hour or even two but what if I need to go!!! I said I wouldn’t just burst in I would knock but no apparently I lock the door when I shower FOR 10 minutes so he should be able to bathe for 25. I get he likes a bath but ffs should I have to beg for the right to access to the loo. Am I nuts???

I know. Bizarre, isn’t it?

This especially with only one toilet

OnYourTogs · 15/09/2024 18:57

DixonD · 15/09/2024 18:51

I do. I’d rather my husband didn’t use the toilet when in the shower or bath. Luckily we have two bathrooms but yes, shower/bath is private, as is using the toilet. I know other couples happily share those moments but not me (or him, thankfully).

I mean, yes if it was a poo. But a pee? Really?

You're married and you both lock the door when you have a bath or shower?

Surely its obvious some people want privacy when showering or having a bath? I personally always lock the door, i dont want anyone coming in

Singleandproud · 15/09/2024 18:59

Camping toilet in a cupboard? If it's such a regular thing and you can't have a proper toilet installed elsewhere in the house.

Composting toilet in the garden is another option.

Why would I want people using the lavatory when I'm in the bath or shower? That's gross! ( they don't as we have 2 other loos, but I would hate that)

Choosetolivelife · 15/09/2024 18:59

Oh I hate this! My 7 year old usually decides a poo is needed right when "mummy is in the bath!" Then has the audacity to giggle at smelling the bathroom out for me! Kids!!

The worst time was when dh did a stand up wee, the toilet is next to the bath 🤢

Moltenpink · 15/09/2024 18:59

Sorry I just don’t believe you can’t wait 25 minutes. What do you do if you need to go to a shop or short car journey? You must leave the house, surely?

DarkHollowTree · 15/09/2024 19:00

If he wants to play like that I'd piss in his pint glass 👌

Daleksatemyshed · 15/09/2024 19:00

I love a long soaky bath but I never lock the door, if my DP needs a wee, he needs a wee. Your DH has little understanding of how women's bladders work if he doesn't understand why you could hold on years ago but can't now. Surely he can leave the door unlocked and avert his eyes if you need a wee? Unless, of course, he's doing something in the bath he doesn't want you to see? Ooh poetry 😂

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 15/09/2024 19:01

25 minutes is a short bath, I stay in for up to 2 hours. It's not unreasonable for him to think he could be left in peace for his bath when he's not wallowing for a long time. Sort out your bladder asap.

MultiplaLight · 15/09/2024 19:03

25 minutes isn't unreasonable of him.

Who needs to wee every 25 minutes?!

Klippityklopp · 15/09/2024 19:04

I'm actually with your husband here, obviously not his attitude, but surely you can wait 25 mins to go to the toilet.
25 mins uninterrupted peace is not a lot to ask.
What happens when you leave the house, you must be able to 25 mins then.

Loooooo · 15/09/2024 19:04

Im with your husband. He’s not asking for a really long bath. You should be able to hold your wee for half an hour. I appreciate it’s more tricky with a water infection but you’ve made that worse by drinking alcohol.

Choochoo21 · 15/09/2024 19:05

He deserves to be able to have 25mins in the bath with the door locked.

You sound controlling.

You can hear the bath running so go for a wee then.

If you can’t hold it for 25mins then don’t drink.

Hillbilly · 15/09/2024 19:06

We are a family of 4 in a 1 bathroom household and the loo is in bathroom. We ALL announce imminent showers, baths or "long" loo visits (DH and DS🤣) so everyone gets notice to use the loo first. I swear I have a weak bladder because of it as I'll always go for a quick wee even if I'm not desperate 🤣

Yep!

This is why I would be annoyed if I was DH too.

He is just asking for 25mins of peace soaking in the bath.

I can get wanting privacy and i can get being all free and easy about it. The weird thing is locking the door while she's in the shower but yet being perfectly comfortable to go in and pee in front of him while he's in the bath.

Find a man who can give you a 2nd bathroom.

OttersAreMySpiritAnimal · 15/09/2024 19:10

I like complete privacy when I bathe, it's the only time I get just for me. but, if you gotta go you gotta go, it's not like you are going to come in just for the hell of it, it'll just be emergency loo situations once in a blue moon surely, so on that basis yanbu.

Differentstarts · 15/09/2024 19:10

Op where have you gone is hubby in the bath are you on the toilet 👀

AhBiscuits · 15/09/2024 19:11

It would annoy me so much if I wanted a relaxing bath and husband burst in for a piss. Can you really not wait half an hour? How do you do anything? Go to the supermarket? Work? Go to the theatre?

Seriouslyhowcouldyounot · 15/09/2024 19:11

Ha ha ok this has been really helpful thank you. I’m obviously being unreasonable I actually really appreciate all your input thank you. Special thanks to the poster who said I was controlling 🙄. I’m going to apologise him now 😬

Are you going to apologise while he's in the bath 🤣🤣🤣

Seriouslyhowcouldyounot · 15/09/2024 19:13

Oh and perimenopause is no joke. I can do several hours between pees or seemingly every 20 minutes 🤷‍♀️
