Husband kicking off over bath

Seriouslyhowcouldyounot · 15/09/2024 18:37

So my husband loves a bath. Loves it!!! But we have one toilet in our house. For a while now I’ve said the second you’re ready to get in let me go to the loo so as to give him the longest time in there before I’m busting again.

tonight it’s all kicked off as I said can you not lock the door as I might be busting. Firstly to fully disclose we’ve been drinking so it goes through me like water, secondly I have a suspected water infection so when I need to go I NEED TO GO. He went nuts saying what’s changed in the 15 years and I should be able to wait 25 mins. Yes maybe I should, maybe I can wait an hour or even two but what if I need to go!!! I said I wouldn’t just burst in I would knock but no apparently I lock the door when I shower FOR 10 minutes so he should be able to bathe for 25. I get he likes a bath but ffs should I have to beg for the right to access to the loo. Am I nuts???

Only having one bathroom is ludicrous and obscene!

It’s the number most people have.

Oh ffs. What a ridiculous thing to say. You must know many (most?) houses only have one?

FishPie2 · 15/09/2024 21:38

Just get a bucket.

NewFriendlyLadybird · 15/09/2024 21:05

I wouldn’t use the loo while my husband was in the bath and he wouldn’t use it if I was.

Seems like the best solution would be for him to have a quick shower only while OP is suffering from this UTI.

Why would neither of you use the loo if the other was in the bath? What if you suddenly urgently had to go?

Seems ridiculous to me.

burnedoutskivvy · 15/09/2024 21:42

Why should she go in a bucket when there is a loo? A long bath is not a necessity - being able to go to the loo with dignity is higher up the hierarchy of needs

I could not live with one. One bathroom, yes, but there would have to be at least a second loo somewhere.

Where the fuck is this idea about wanking coming from? I don’t like baths so 8 don’t take them, but I know lots of people who bathe for longer than 25 mins who definitely aren’t wanking. Not that it would matter if they were

Because he locks the door?

Again - if he is entitled to soak in the bath, his wife is equally entitled not to piss her pants. Unless they invest in another loo, he has to either let her piss while he is in the bath, or stop having long soaks/ wanks/ whatever.

justasking111 · 15/09/2024 21:46

Oh the innocence of youth when you still have a bladder of steel. 😉

My OH used to tut at my bladder until he had a prostate operation, got an infection and was catheterised for 10 days. The hospital was 25 mins from home. Going home He wet the car seat en route. The urge incontinence continued for a while. He does understand now.

localnotail · 15/09/2024 21:49

If its a two storey house there should be a loo downstairs. Its definitely a requirement for all new houses. I also never seen a reasonably sized house with no guest loo.

Floralnomad · 15/09/2024 21:58

If we only had one loo then I would be using it if needed when my husband was in the bath and he would do the same if I was in the bath . I don’t get how you have sex with someone but can’t be in the same room to pee .

What a sheltered life you have had. Not all houses are new. Many (most?) only have one loo. Sometimes it’s in a ground floor bathroom. I don’t believe this is really news to you.

I’m 59. If you can’t go 25 mins from your last wee, see a doctor.

I think you probably could manage to stay alive in that situation. Most people do.

As long as he gives you a chance to go just before he gets in, 25 mins isn’t unreasonable.

Yes, pee in a goesunder. Or bucket. Drink lots of proper cranberry juice

Lol indeed. It's only been a legal requirement in the UK in houses built from 1999 onwards. Milllions of people live in houses older than that!

SantoriniSunrise · 15/09/2024 22:28

Completelyjo · 15/09/2024 20:19

Often.

Honestly who the fuck are you people??

It is not normal or sanitary to be pissing in cups or water bottles in your own home.

I live with my elderly DF and am his carer. He has an enlarged prostate and is in and out of the toilet all day and night, he is also autistic and has ocd.

Trust me, peeing in a bottle is preferable to interrupting his toilet time. 🤦‍♀️

GivingitToGod · 15/09/2024 22:37

Seriouslyhowcouldyounot · 15/09/2024 18:43

Ha you’re right. I’m not in pain but seriously needing to go suddenly! Only had two drinks and stopping but yes constant wees

If you have a urine infection, it is important to drink lots ( non alcoholic), even though it can sting when peeing.
Irrespective of whether you have an infection or not, I think your husband is being unreasonable

Flopsythebunny · 15/09/2024 22:39

Differentstarts · 15/09/2024 18:50

But he's right can't you control your bladder for 25 minutes

Not everyone can

Totally agree

WhatHoJeeves · 15/09/2024 22:40

Oh dear god. How are people so unable to believe that other people might choose to do things differently from them? And that other people's bodies might do different things than theirs?

GivingitToGod · 15/09/2024 22:44

localnotail · 15/09/2024 19:47

Why can't you come in and wee when he is in the bath? Why is he locking the door, is he wanking there?

I wouldn't feel comfortable weeing whilst partner is in bath
