No women only spaces for 16 months. Basically women, RAPED women - were told they could not definitely see a woman to help them with such an awful crime, they might have to see a man in a dress, and if they objected they were to be 're eductaed' by the man in charge - a man who himself applied for, and got!! a job which was supposed to be only filled by a woman.

It's shameful, disgusting, but whats worse is how many people put up with it!! Who thought this was ok?! why did nobody do anything, or say anything FOR YEARS

Woman with head in her arms sitting on a bed

Edinburgh rape crisis centre failed to protect women-only spaces

The centre unfairly dismissed a worker who believed victims should know the sex of staff who deal with their case.

We can't even centre women on this thread without 'what about the men?'.

334bu · 12/09/2024 19:57

At least the main stream media are now taking notice of the appalling situation in Edinburgh, despite ignoring, for the most part, the tribunal which triggered this enquiry. Where were the reports on the BBC of this tribunal where it was being revealed that raped women were being told by ERCC that they couldn't receive help, because they wanted a female counsellor ? They only deigned to mention it after the judge gave his damning verdict .

RedToothBrush · 12/09/2024 20:00

The subject was literally about the lack of women's only services because it was traumatising, humiliating and degrading to women to not have single sex available.

And someone has made it all about the menz.

The report in question points out the % of female victims compared to men. And that the majority of services were effectively mixed.

But nope despite over 90% of victims being female they STILL couldn't provide details of guaranteed single sex services because it's was all about being inclusive and championing values rather than giving a shit about the victims.

Slow hand clap to the poster who has managed to once again make the point about how women aren't worth shit.

Some men have no choice being in rape centres because they’ve been raped and that’s where the support is based.

"women's crisis centres."
Men can talk to GP or seak one of many charities con erned with mental health.

I'm not really comfortable with referring to a trans woman, who has lived as a woman for many many years, as a man. It seems unnecessarily hateful, and detracts from what otherwise could be valid points being made.

//

You do know this is the same individual who, on face of criticism of their policies, stated women need to "reclaim their trauma "? . This is not an individual who cares about women.

Quite.

Why should I show 'respect' and undermine my own rights when he cant even pretend to respect the women he's supposed to be serving.

We are not here to valid males. We are not here to be nice to males who trample all over us.

The report literally says this man traumatised women by his totally unnecessary actions and words.

It's just absolutely exhausting isn't it. Men expecting to be centered and prioritised even when we're discussing female rape victims traumatised by males. Its shameful.

It's fucking appalling.

It shows they haven't read the report. They don't understand what it's about and why those findings were important.

Or worse they have and they don't care and they still want to make it all about the menz.

It's absolutely extraordinary that anyone thinks we owe courtesy to this arsehole.

I'm ashamed of any woman kowtowing to this nonsense. Imagine pandering to these awful men at the expense of traumatised women. What kind of craven traitor would do that?

I can post where I like. As I said women’s rights appear on every other thread.

oh dear. Even on a thread like this it's all leaping around and "pick me pick me"

give it a flipping rest.

Women campaigned and raised funds for DECADES to get rape crisis centres. And you know what? they often also offer support to men. How many have men set up for men and also offered services for women?

It's the same as mental health charities. One of the first for men is CALM. Set up by a woman.

Oh god I agree, and that post makes me feel sick.
Who on earth would support a vile man over traumatised women?

Chipsahoy · 12/09/2024 20:22

Ugh. Men in women’s spaces.. why? If they are truly “wanting to be a woman” why wouldn’t they be for us not against us? Why would they want to to be nurses carrying out intimate procedures on women or working in rape crisis centres? I have to assume their motives are not right here.

I’ve been raped, like many women have and I have complex trauma from the years it went on for. I have seen two male therapists and three women. The males are where I have jelled and worked well. But I would never ever tell anyone woman they should work with a man when they don’t want to. Rape crisis is often that first port of call. The first responder if you will. And that should be women. Women only.

RedToothBrush · 12/09/2024 20:22

Basic governance procedures were poor. Trustees had concerns about the quality of trustee board papers and tried to support and direct improvements. However, the CEO did not implement the Trustees’ requests.

This is how much he respected the Trustees.

Totally agree. I actually feel more contempt for the penis pandering handmaidens who are betraying their own sex to suck up to these male fetishists.

The traitorous women are happy to throw away many years of hard fought women’s rights to worship at the alter of #bekind.

They sicken me

I bet he just thought the trustees were stupid wee girls that had no authority over him.

Articulated it better than I did.

The judgment also found that the management investigation in respect of RA had the effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating and offensive environment for her and she was discriminated against because of her gender critical beliefs.

There was an employment tribunal that found in favour of the employee.

There wasn't even an employee handbook.

This was how much he respected the staff.

Nope not upset. A Mumsnet thread is not upsetting. Seeing your child denied much needed support because of gender is upsetting.

support because of sex not gender.

Again sorry for your son, but you are unbelievably crass. Start your own thread and people will point you in the direction of services.

Meanwhile in the living as a woman bingo stakes, i was fired for being pregnant. No man has had that one.

murasaki · 12/09/2024 20:25

He deliberately recruited young brainwashed kids to be trustees from the 'be kind' generation. They've mostly now quit.

But hell the staff were still seen as more important than the service users:

The ERCC Strategy 2023-28 is a high level document which does not give survivors first priority. The first priority mentioned is to ‘Invest in our people, culture and systems’. It mentions women once in the context of the SIA project.

Once.

Women got mentioned once. And the service wasn't centred on them.

And we are supposed to respect this man?!

FFS. Mridul had no interest in actually helping raped females did he?

If men aren’t to be involved at all the whole system needs changing as currently males experiencing rape struggle to get the support they need. My son was raped and got nothing as the rape support centre would only let him access support 1 day a week which he couldn’t do as opposed to the 4 days a week women were offered because he couldn’t be on the premises. Men, women and trans should all get the same level of support. Rape is Rape. The whole system needs overhauling. He has still had zilch and is expected to process a court case and the rape itself on the back of zero therapy and support. Women only spaces shouldn’t be protected at the expense of male survivors. I don’t understand why there aren’t separate buildings offering exactly the same.

I fully support you and agree there should be equal access for all but as you said separately.
