Has anyone else got the email being invited to the ballot for the new dates?

🤣 must admit I felt the same!

For all our modern high tech world I do wonder who benefits from it. I am old (54!), I live near Wembley and have been at a lot of concerts from 1984 onwards. Back in the day we either phoned or queued at the box office and got our tickets or turned up on the day and bought from the touts if the price was ok. Even worked there occasionally. The tickets were obtainable to ordinary people. There was no VIP, all tickets the same price. You legged it to the front when doors opened. Life was much simpler!

It seemed a much fairer system queueing and on the phone. Surely in this day and age there has got to be a fairer system. I was in the waiting room when it crashed and then was hundreds of thousands away in a queue when I managed to get back on.

I try not to go to arena gigs if possible as I find them a bit soulless. I much prefer just turning up and it being a free for all. I would’ve rather gone to Manchester but we’ll make a weekend out of it if we get tickets.

We used to get to Wembley first thing and once in the concourse we'd dash to the very front where a steward was always handing out wristbands for the front pit.

Finally got confirmation after 2 and a half hours. Good luck everyone else.

Who benefits- a few large companies, spivs and chancers. Maybe even worse than estate agents.

Someone realised that tickets for gigs could be seriously monetized and technology gave them a chance to do that. Some sharp practice and unregulated. The artist got ££££ in return for Live Nation taking control. Live nation also own ShowSec the security you see and a big merchandise company. Expect dynamic pricing to be the norm. The idea is what won't the fans pay? Then pitch the prices just below that.

fadedrose · 08/09/2024 10:35

We wanted to sit together as a family of four so even if it was for a venue near us it wouldn’t have been any good with the two ticket limit.

I much preferred queueing up in person at ticket offices/ stores. I got oasis tickets with no issue doing it that way in the past.

YellowphantGrey · 08/09/2024 10:39

Quirrelsotherface · 08/09/2024 10:24

Just got my confirmation email after filling out the form 3 hours or so ago.

i also think it’s totally fair and the right thing to do to sell 2 tickets pp. gives more people and families the opportunity and less likely to have cases as above where people overbuy and then resell. People are such selfish aresholes when it comes to stuff like this!

If you're a family of 3 like we are then we've got no chance of getting tickets. They need to do what they initially said, 4 tickets max and cancell any that are sold on for more than face value.

Exactly this. Like I've said on these threads over the past week or two, I'm really glad that my kids are grown now (in their late 20s,) and I don't have to put up with this shit: teenagers whinging and whining to want to go to Taylor Swift concerts and causing me stress and money. (Or me myself, being desperate to go to the Oasis concert and fighting to try and get tickets...)

Although that is unlikely. I like them and I enjoy listening them, but I'm not bothered about seeing them. Unless the venue was 15 miles away and the tickets were 25 quid, (and I could just pop into the box office at the venue to get the tickets,) I couldn't be arsed to make the effort to be honest. The stress and strain that people are putting themselves through trying to get Oasis tickets is just not worth it. As I said see also: Taylor Swift.

As you say, it was a much simpler time (pre 2010s really,) when you could just order the tickets over the phone, for a decent price - like £30 to £47 (and the price didn't change whilst you were waiting on the line!) Or just pop to the venue and pick them up. Then rock up to the concert venue about an hour before the concert, and then get a train back at half 10 at night or so.

A simpler time. I genuinely pity people these days having to go through the shit they do to see their favourite music act.

.

Confirmation email just arrived!

How long after comleting the form did you receive this? I’ve completed mine and not had one back 😔 it’s been about half hour.

IWasHittingMyMarks · 08/09/2024 10:42

Hilarious.

I signed in to see if there was any chance of getting tix via Ticketmaster on the day, was about 200,000 in the queue, realised there was no chance and prices were insane and fluctuating upwards, so gave up after about 10 minutes. Closed my computer and went out for the day.

Just got an email that I'm now in with a potentially sensible chance for the new dates. My teenage boys will be thrilled. They really want to go.

It’s limited to 2 tickets each if you a) get a code b) can buy tickets with the code.

I hope you only have 2 teenage boys or there could be some fighting!

That creates its own unfairness though in being more accessible to those who don’t have to work that day/can take annual leave easier/don’t have kids to sort etc.

Proud owner of exactly 2 teenage boys 😃
Chalk and cheese at times, but they'll figure it out if I get them 😂

Fingers crossed you get them! That would be some serious mum points for you Smile

GrammarTeacher · 08/09/2024 10:49

So irritating. If it hadn't crashed when it did, we would have tickets. But nothing. Again. And it's not even for me. I'm still confused that the Manics supported them at Knebworth. If they promised to only play stuff from the first two albums and those b-sides I'd be more interested.
Still, I'm sure Economics teachers can get a whole term's worth of lessons out of all this.

How old are they? Need an adult with them and the ballot is only for two tickets

Dancingqueen90 · 08/09/2024 10:50

I didn't get the email! Nor did DH. We were in the queue for ages...such a farce!

Good luck who got into the ballot. Hope it goes your way x

SpanielPaws · 08/09/2024 10:54

Yes had the original email at 5am and thanks to a grandchild staying over, saw it almost immediately had the confirmation email an hour or so later.

I'm just not sure that my heart is in going through all that palaver again on Ticketmaster though - I was in the waiting room for nearly 3 hours and then got bombed off!

Yes. I found the registration form a bit unsatisfactory though. I don’t know if I am
signed up now for oasismynet and have had no confirmation email yet. My last page said ‘nearly there’ with terms and conditions. Is that what you had?

Yes this is what I got too and that was it. Seems a bit odd. I think from reading it multiple times that it until you hopefully get access code on 133th September?

No, you need to keep an eye on your emails for the confirmation email. Once you’ve clicked the link on that you’re successfully entered for the ballot. It’s taking a few hours to come through but you’re not in the ballot until you’ve had that email and clicked the link.

SkylarkKitten · 08/09/2024 11:02

I got the email from Oasismynet but the registration involves accepting marketing emails AND marketing texts which may charge you (as stated on the tick box)

There is no option to proceed without accepting both!

Much as I'd like to go, I'm not being forced into accepting marketing junk and being charged for texts (at an unknown rate) and it's frankly unacceptable.

I wonder how much more pension pot money the Gallaghers are getting by this latest method of ticket purchasing.

I'm done with it!

JustLikeJasper · 08/09/2024 11:05

@TokyoSushi how about leaving tickets to those that haven't got any at all?
