Lighthearted post.

Just that really 🤣 I’m very new to vinted. So let’s hear your Vinted horror stories!

My favourite is selling dirty trainers either a comment 'just need a wipe'

Then just given them a wipe FFS!

In most cases it looks like they need a bleach bath and fumigation. 😂

DyslexicPoster · 07/09/2024 13:09

I don't really have any problems on Vinted. I only sell pristine kids clothes. If I have a nicer brand and it's not perfect I say so and list it as satisfactory.

Parcels getting lost are my my biggest peev. There are some batshit posts on the various FB groups. People calling the police and threats over a £3 item. If I ever had that I'd just stop.

The best thing about Vinted is that it's helped me to see I over buy kids clothes. Why do they have so much excellent condition outgrown clothes? That has stopped.

voxnihili · 07/09/2024 13:09

I sell a lot and have had a few issues.

I’ve recently had a buyer message me within an hour of buying the item to ask if I’d posted it yet.

I also recently listed something as the wrong size by accident. It was obvious from the photos what size they were. It was a kids item and something you could just put away until they were the next size up. If the buyer had messaged politely I’d have said to keep the item and given a refund. They were so rude though that I asked them to return it to me - I paid for the postage (which cost more than I’d got for the item). I’m not normally so petty but they were so rude about a genuine error!

I’ve also had buyers offer less than half the price so an surprised to see it’s not meant to let you offer less than 25% off.

Scottishskifun · 07/09/2024 13:09

I buy most clothes and winter gear from vinted I have always just paid the price asked for the stuff I want as usually it's a bargain anyway!

Some sellers are a bit delusional on what the price they put especially if its above the item price new from the shop still in a sale but I just scroll past those ones.

I don't sell on vinted though usually our stuff does our 2 children then gets passed to a friend to do more so

I save so much money by asking for offers. Sorry not sorry! But I think it's good karma so I also accept offers too.

Me too! I think it's fine to ask for an offer. Takes 1 second for the seller to say 'no' and if it's something I want I'll just pay the original price. Wouldn't everyone want stuff cheaper if theycould get it?

As a seller, I've been happy with my experiences as everything I sell is in good condition, lots of photos and accurately described.

As a buyer I am not impressed.

  • Trousers in "very good condition" which have significant fading from wash + moth holes. When I left 3* feedback, got a response I was a difficult buyer!
  • swimming goggles described in "very good condition" with scratches on the lens
  • shoes which were not the brand advertised

They've recently changed their not as described policy however I am not yet clear if I still have to pay to return items. I tend to use Vinted for items ~£5 and ebay for higher priced items as ebay gives me more protection. Plus with ebay most items are exactly as described because the sellers have more risk if not.

Thanks for the advice. Collectors items etc yes I’ve always used eBay with no issues and not had silly offers like on Vinted.

Making an extremely low ball offer on an already heavily discounted item is CF’ery though and a complete waste of everyone’s time even if they are not inclined to accept it.

I listed a pair of brand new DM’s bought for £220 for £80 and had several messages from people asking if I’d take a tenner - no.

Lighthearted post!

I’m new to selling on vinted but have heard lots from friends and seen online about very cheeky buyers.

I’ve had some very ridiculous offers for brand new items with tags and generally messed about. Of course you haggle and offer what you want to pay for items. Instances of being offered 79p on a £75 dress 🤣

Did anyone see the TikTok where a seller said they weren’t able to complete the order because they were distressed by the Molly Mae/ Tommy Fury break up 🙈

The molly mae thing was fake, if you look at the full size image it's apparently someone buying something for thousands 😂

Of course, that’s what the platforms meant for! It’s the silly next to nothing offers that are bothersome not this.

Which is well within the limit for offers. Why list on a platform that allows buyers to make lower offers if you’re going to let it annoy you?

Was it you? 🤓

GoldSloth · 07/09/2024 13:13

Or they state that it’s brand new without tags and in their description says that they have only worn it once so it’s immaculate!

BurntBroccoli · 07/09/2024 13:14

Not really no! Had really good experience both buying and selling. Everything as described and always nice and clean.

Yellow2024 · 07/09/2024 13:14

I love the offer button on vinted. I do t get why some people get so frustrated over it.

I sometimes use it as a way of knowing if the vinted seller is still active and has the thing I want if its something that's been for sale for months.

DyslexicPoster · 07/09/2024 13:15

Actually what does piss me off is someome making a low offer then posting

?????

??????

???????????

Ten minutes later. If I don't want the offer I ignore. I also don't sit on Vinted all day checking my offers. Maybe that's why I don't have people being rude, I ignore things like this.

I had a £60 joules dress new with tags up for £5. If I can't get £5 I donate it.

Dinkiedoo · 07/09/2024 13:15

Bought a dress once that absolutely stank and covered in make up!
2 orders cancelled as seller decided to keep !
Seller also took over a week to post.
As a seller you don't get the money until buyer receives or marks as received which is a pain

ThisFunHedgehog · 07/09/2024 13:15

sunseaandsoundingoff · 07/09/2024 13:10

Ahh I see, my bad I’ll take that ! Still funny and wouldn’t be half surprised if similar things haven’t happened 🙈🤣

I only sell stuff that is decent. I price about two to three pounds over my lowest acceptable price people always offer a few pounds under so this means everyone is happy!

Yes I do this too. Always haggle and happy for others to do the same.

BucketBouquet · 07/09/2024 13:16

I offered on an item at the the maximum allowable discount and the seller went mad, saying I was insulting her, to never buy from her etc. I told her she was being ridiculous and shouldn’t use Vinted if she was going to be offended when someone used it as intended. She went on this mad rant about how I was a cheapskate, a chancer; I should watch the TV ads - they made no mention of horrible cheap people trying to con sellers… then the fucking weirdo started messaging about my items, saying “Would you sell this for 20p?! Well would you?!” Well no, because that would be something like a 95% discount / but I wouldn’t be offended by an offer with a 40% discount, because that’s how it bloody works!!

Luckily for her, I’m not a petty person. If I were, I would have created two fake accounts, offered the lowest prices possible on the maximum number of items allowed at 11:59pm, then again a minute later when the daily limit reset, so that she had 40 “insulting” offers to deal with at once. That would be wrong.

Shizzlestix · 07/09/2024 13:16

I think Vinted must be making a fortune from the obligatory ‘buyer protection’ fee. To be fair, I’ve used it twice when an item I sold went astray then something I bought went missing. I do think people are quite cheeky, but shy bairns get nowt, plus the postage, as mentioned, can really raise the price. What I don’t understand is why there is sometimes only one posting option, why is there not a choice? I don’t want to use the one that delivers to a shop where there’s little parking.

Pretty much my entire wardrobe is from Vinted, having had to replace the whole lot this year.

ValsCupcakes · 07/09/2024 13:17

whotoldyouso · 07/09/2024 12:29

I didn’t, I think you’ve misunderstood Smile

There wasn’t a mark when I sent them but it is possible something happened in transit, I was just rolling my eyes at someone whining that a £2 item needed a wash!

Or they were fibbing. I sold a pack of three bras that were brand new. The woman who bought them said they had coffee stains on. They were packed in bubble wrap and plastic, so nothing could have happened in transit. She was just trying to get money off.

Lovefromjuliaxo · 07/09/2024 13:18

people do offer stupid prices, but bear in mind the vinted fees. A £1 item would cost about £5 to the buyer because unlike eBay, buyer pays fees and postage

As a seller, you can choose your postage option in settings. I only offer Evri, Inpost and RM as they are closest to me and I have no yodel or DPD dropoff points near me. Some people don’t have printers and thus can only choose evri or inpost collect.

AdviceNeeded2024 · 07/09/2024 13:06

Because it’s already a bargain. If it was priced at £100 and they offer £85 for example, that’s different but 25p or 50p less is ridiculous. Just pay the price!

Why does it bug you though just don't accept their offer and move on
