Lighthearted post.

Just that really 🤣 I’m very new to vinted. So let’s hear your Vinted horror stories!

Also, seeing things packaged in crisp bags or plastic bottles puts me off buying. It’s easy enough to send everything in a mailing bag.

Lighthearted post!

I’m new to selling on vinted but have heard lots from friends and seen online about very cheeky buyers.

I’ve had some very ridiculous offers for brand new items with tags and generally messed about. Of course you haggle and offer what you want to pay for items. Instances of being offered 79p on a £75 dress 🤣

Did anyone see the TikTok where a seller said they weren’t able to complete the order because they were distressed by the Molly Mae/ Tommy Fury break up 🙈

I don't know how this has happened because Vinted will only let you offer up to 25% less than the asking price... so offering 79p for a listed £75 item is not feasible

You’re still able to private message the seller of the item.

This is just the act of cheeky people and they are everywhere not just Vinted exclusively. There are many lovely buyers that are a pleasure to do business with that offer a smooth transaction with great communication. Considerate people are also not just exclusive to Vinted either. YABU. 🙄

Edit - Apologies for unnecessarily quoting you OP it was a mistake.

I have only had a problem once, with someone insisting there was a mark on a pair of maternity trousers. They were £2 🙄

I hate it when something is £3 and people offer £2.50. I find it really annoying.

I save so much money by asking for offers. Sorry not sorry! But I think it's good karma so I also accept offers too.

This! I don’t like when people list the condition as new when it clearly isn’t.

That's not a buyer issue though?

Yep that’s exclusively the sellers issue which then becomes the buyers issue because they’ve been misled about the condition unfortunately.

Every sales platform has idiots, both on the buying and selling side. You'll encounter some of them sometimes, but most often people are nice and normal.

stripybobblehat · 07/09/2024 12:38

I know this is "Lighthearted!" But I don't see your issue. So what someone offers you 79p just don't accept it if you don't want. It's not enough for me to think this is RIDICULOUS over tbh. It's what they are willing to pay.

Then the buyer isn't being RIDICULOUS

Thatmissingsock · 07/09/2024 12:39

I hate buy and sell sites with a passion. Ive tried them several times and always find that when i want to sell anything, apparently it must be priced at a ridiculously low price (think £2 on a £40 top) despite being practically new, but when i want to buy something, apparently it being second hand is no reason to expect to pay less than 80% of the full RRP for the new version 🤨

TwitchyJerk · 07/09/2024 12:40

I haven't done vinted myself, but my mum has sold a few items... one was to be shipped by putting it in a locker. Mum got to the locker but there was no paperwork, so she decided not to put the item in... so she contacted the buyer about it be of course they thought it was a scam so didn't buy it again!

ThisFunHedgehog · 07/09/2024 12:40

Of course there are lots great buyers on Vinted. I’m not tarring everyone with the same brush! This thread is specifically about less than ideal buyer interactions so you can all stop with being butt hurt.

Yes I’ve just had this problem too.

There are a small amount of buyers who literally want to buy your items for nothing. I’ve had messages asking if I’d accept stupidly low amounts (they can’t offer that low if they use make and offer due to set limit)

The other very annoying thing is people buying and then messaging you, can you post this asap as I need it in 4 days time.if they want to know if this is possible just message before buying. The rules on Vinted on postage times are clear and people seem to want shop service when it’s not a shop ! I usually post same or next day but on one occasion a buyer bought at 11pm on a Sunday and then cancelled sale 8am Tuesday morning as it wasn’t posted quickly enough(she had t even messaged asking for super quick postage) - luckily I saw her message as parcel was in car on way to lockers.

What do you mean not paperwork ?

Ihavenoclu · 07/09/2024 12:42

I am pretty new to it as well but I'm quite enjoying it so far. The only poor interactions I have had was today when I received a jumper labelled as new without tags and it was clearly in very very used conditions. Still debating what to do with it. Can't be asked to argue but it is very annoying.

Nagatha · 07/09/2024 12:42

Some people are taking your post a little too personally. Maybe they know they are the pain in the arse buyers 🙃

Anyway, I agree. People posting the wrong stuff is sooooo annoying. I had one this week where it took me ages to collect it because the barcode for the shop to scan wasn’t coming through then I got it home and opened it to find one half of the bundle was the wrong stuff. The main reason I ordered it was for a set of 3 t-shirts and she’d sent me an entirely different set so then I’ve got to fuck around to return it and still don’t have the item I wanted.

I also ordered a denim jacket for my son that always listed as nearly new. It may have been but when it arrived it absolutely stunk of cigarettes. Even after washing I don’t want to put it on him so will probably just give it away now.

Sorry I'm so guilty of this. It's because when the postage gets added it ends up over a fiver whereas if I can get 50p off it goes down to five or under which psychologically makes me feel better.

I find it annoying when I'm the one selling though Blush

Yeah I think this is why most people do it.
I never understand why people get so annoyed by it. You don't even have to reply, just ignore it. You can even turn the notifications off if you want.

Sometimes the postage is more than the item and makes it just as expensive as buying it in the shop 😬 (e.g a £1 top and postage over £3 and the top is £4 in shop etc )
I will look to see if I can get a bundle but if there is nothing else I like then I just leave it.

i make offers when people state they are open to offers
