Lighthearted post.

Just that really 🤣 I’m very new to vinted. So let’s hear your Vinted horror stories!

Some people are taking your post a little too personally. Maybe they know they are the pain in the arse buyer

Heh I thought the same Grin

It's true though. People treat these sites like a ruddy shop. These are the types of people who buy a load of clothes with the full intention to return most of it.

LividSummers · 07/09/2024 12:58

I had a bundle of seven kids' tops, all lovely, on for just £2. So under 30p each.

Had an offer for £1.75.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 07/09/2024 12:58

Buyers and sellers can both be idiots on Vinted. I offered £30 for an item listed at £40. Declined, fair enough. I then offered £35. Buyer responded with a counter offer of £1,500.

I sold a dress for under a tenner, brand new. Buyer messaged me to moan that one of the buttons on the cuff was detached (but was present in the sealed parcel with the dress) and this led her to believe the dress was used. It was clear that the button had been damaged in transit as the shank was smashed - probably had something heavy put on it. But no, she insisted I'd worn it, broken the button and lied about the condition of the dress and THEN, popped said broken button in the bag with the dress to post. Batshit.

Brooklyn70 · 07/09/2024 12:58

Never had any issues.

gumtree on the Other hand…

’is it available?, I can come tomorrow ‘

never hear from them again, it’s happened soooo many times.

Moveoverdarlin · 07/09/2024 12:58

My pet hate is when people list an item as ‘brand new without tags’ and then in the written description say ‘barely worn’ or ‘worn once’. It’s not brand new then! It’s in very good condition and should be listed as such.

Vivalavida1 · 07/09/2024 12:58

Why are the responses on this thread so up tight and serious?

OP obviously isn’t talking about the general Vinted buyer she’s talking about the twits that make a £1.50 offer on a new pair of designer boots you’ve listed for £70 or the ones who message you 10 minutes after they’ve purchased asking why you haven’t posted it yet.

PilgorTheGoat · 07/09/2024 12:59

I usually price up my items slightly higher than I want for them so the buyer can be pleased they’ve made an offer and for a “discount” and I’m still happy with what I’ve received.

EvilNextDoor · 07/09/2024 12:59

I’ve found vinted has gotten quite expensive 🤷‍♀️

Ordered a pair of boot and by the time I’ve added £4 for delivery - nearest in post is miles away and evri seem to be the only delivery company which can find my address a £5 item is now over £10 with the fee added

I’ve never sold an item before! Only ever purchased.

Some seller take the piss want ££ for something worn and in not great condition and really need to describe items correctly and the pictures show it’s not in very good condition

I'm a regular vinted buyer and I find this post pointless tbh. Vinted is great 😁

Scully01 · 07/09/2024 13:02

I've mostly had positive experiences and any issues resolved quickly, once I contact sellers. Had one seller who sent a cardigan that had clearly been shrunk in the wash, a few things that were dirty, but the worst was the denim jacket with a used false nail in the pocket 🤢

Actually, this does read like someone reached the 'Use A Provocative Title!' section in Copywriting For Dummies and decided to try it out

Yup

I’ve started doing this, stupid offers on an already bargain priced item make me rage! Brand new top for £3 for example, and they offer £2.50. Just pay the extra 50p FFS 😂😂🤬

DrinkElephants · 07/09/2024 13:03

I’m a regular Vinted buyer. And tbh I find 50% of sellers accept the order and never send the stuff! So I end up getting a refund most of the time.

So I’d say that the sellers are ridiculous.

There's nothing wrong with making an offer however low it is. The seller doesn't have to accept it.

Why? They don't want to pay as much as you want. What's the big deal.

EspanaPorfavor · 07/09/2024 13:06

I’ve bought a fair bit but only just started selling. On my second sale, the buyer broke the strap of a pair of brand new kids kickers t bars because presumably she couldn’t be arsed to sell them on. I do have before photos so I’ll fight it but I guess Vinted will refund. She only paid a tenner.

as a buyer, I always offer 70-% of the listed price because the option is there so I assume the seller has factored that in when pricing. They can just refuse if they want to!

Because it’s already a bargain. If it was priced at £100 and they offer £85 for example, that’s different but 25p or 50p less is ridiculous. Just pay the price!

Ive sold over 400 items on Vinted, so would class myself as an experienced seller.

its rare I encounter an issue with a buyer or a seller really. The only issue I did have is that I bought a Barbour coat listed as new without tags, then in the description “never been worn, only took the tags off and was put in my wardrobe”.

so I bought it, and when it arrived it had gingerbread crumbs in the pocket. I questioned the seller on this and she replied that she had worn it, and never said it wasn’t worn. I then screenshot her listing and sent it to her, she then got very defensive and accused me of being petty.

I left her bad feedback explaining the situation, and in return she did the same to me, describing me as a whinger.

I've had similar. I bought a Neom wireless oil diffuser that was described as new without tags. When it arrived it had clearly been used as it was dirty and the inside smelt of diffuser oil and part of a plastic tube was broken off. And the seller hadn't included the charging cable (which is a breach of Vinted policy). The seller then ignored my messages (yet had been online enough to message me 3 times in one afternoon about collecting it!). In the end I just clicked accept as it was too much hassle to send it back. And within seconds the seller was miraculously back online and messaged to say it was easy to buy a charger cable on Ebay. I blocked her.

The majority of buyers and sellers are decent people but there's 10% who are batshit/deluded/live in filthy squalor it seems.

I do find it much easier than Ebay though as Vinted postage is a breeze and so easy. And no huge Ebay commission. The downside is that buyers tend to be pretty cheap and want to pay peanuts. Plus some sellers don't seem to do the maths and understand that they need to charge less (in total after buyers insurance and postage) than a brand new identical item direct from the retailer.

I have only had a problem once, with someone insisting there was a mark on a pair of maternity trousers. They were £2 🙄

I hate it when something is £3 and people offer £2.50. I find it really annoying.

Not worrh the hassle is for such a small amount.

Oh no I’m sorry, that’s not okay! 🫣

As a seller, I've been happy with my experiences as everything I sell is in good condition, lots of photos and accurately described.

As a buyer I am not impressed.

  • Trousers in "very good condition" which have significant fading from wash + moth holes. When I left 3* feedback, got a response I was a difficult buyer!
  • swimming goggles described in "very good condition" with scratches on the lens
  • shoes which were not the brand advertised

They've recently changed their not as described policy however I am not yet clear if I still have to pay to return items. I tend to use Vinted for items ~£5 and ebay for higher priced items as ebay gives me more protection. Plus with ebay most items are exactly as described because the sellers have more risk if not.

Lighthearted post!

I’m new to selling on vinted but have heard lots from friends and seen online about very cheeky buyers.

I’ve had some very ridiculous offers for brand new items with tags and generally messed about. Of course you haggle and offer what you want to pay for items. Instances of being offered 79p on a £75 dress 🤣

Did anyone see the TikTok where a seller said they weren’t able to complete the order because they were distressed by the Molly Mae/ Tommy Fury break up 🙈

That can't be true as vinted caps offers 40% of listed price and you can't offer sub £1 on anything...

Which is well within the limit for offers. Why list on a platform that allows buyers to make lower offers if you’re going to let it annoy you?
