Lighthearted post.

Just that really 🤣 I’m very new to vinted. So let’s hear your Vinted horror stories!

Some buyers seem to think you are a shop and expect the same service. I don't do next day delivery, I do within the vinted timeframe delivery. I don't do returns if you change your mind or it doesn't fit. I am not a shop.

I have had more issues with sellers though, selling stuff that isn't as described.

Don't describe it as new or very good if it has a mark on it. It doesn't matter what the price is, you are selling under false pretences if you don't honestly describe it. I paid £6 for a bag that was described as Very Good, and it was cut, ripped and dirty! The seller wouldn't do a returnless refund, so I either had to lose £6, or pay £3.69 to return it and get my money back! If an item is significantly not as described then vinted should return the money without making you refund it.

A recent buyer offered a lower price on around 10 items and seemed to be continuing, so I blocked them. I currently have a lovely item on at £10 and people are offering £6 for it.

I do print all my own labels and attach, to make sure that nothing gets sent to the wrong people.

My son was giving away two Belfast sinks on marketplace for the garden. Buyer insisted that he delivered them.

DIL had a twin bugaboo beautifully embroidered originally £1800 for £100, buyer demanded a new something for it.

Some people are batshit

I only sell stuff that is decent. I price about two to three pounds over my lowest acceptable price people always offer a few pounds under so this means everyone is happy!

Me too! This is the secret I think, I only sell on what I’d be willing for me/DS to wear, mark it as satisfactory and have only had happy buyers.

£2-3 here and there that would have gone in the charity bag all adds up and I make the most of the cash by buying from Vinted too.

I’ve had some lovely messages from mums/buyers. Nice that clothes I loved on DS are being loved again.

Whydontclothesfitanymore · 07/09/2024 13:21

I'm a lovely buyer but I do like to put an offer in on items that have been up for a while.

Eylis · 07/09/2024 13:23

I know someone who sells on eBay Amazon & vinted and they love vinted buyers but say all the psychopaths shop on eBay 😂

That annoys me. I had a bundle delivered, condition apparently 'very good' but one item had a hole in it and was missing multiple buttons (no spares) and another item was completely see through so totally unsuitable and I had to wait for the seller to agree to the return and then pay postage.

Bought a dress once that absolutely stank and covered in make up!
2 orders cancelled as seller decided to keep !
Seller also took over a week to post.
As a seller you don't get the money until buyer receives or marks as received which is a pain

Oh no that’s so annoying and such a shame! I can’t believe people sell filthy items 😣

I once bought a kids coat that was super dirty, literally had mud on all over sleeve and back. Not a tiny mark you could see on easily miss. Seller insisted it was clean when she sent it 😳🤯 apart from that all my experiences of buying and selling have been great. I love getting kids brands for £3 or less a piece and I sell them again afterwards.

I always try and negotiate the price though, just as I price my items slightly higher so people can negotiate a discount.

Oh goodness. I think eBay is the better site for more expensive items and collectors pieces.

To add, made £800 in the last 3 years but spent most of it on vinted again 🤯🤣

Pluto46 · 07/09/2024 13:30

Would use it a lot more (as a seller) if buyers selected normal post from the Post Office or Royal Mail (not sure if this is even an option but no buyer has ever selected it for my items). With buyers selecting the courier and, therefore, the drop off points then if you don't live near the nearest drop off then any 'profit', on a couple of quid, is immediately lost by having to make a special trip to drop it off or risk the buyer complaining it took you ages to despatch!

Penguinhippo · 07/09/2024 13:32

I already heavily discount my items and I have bundle discounts turned on. And some people still try to negotiate the price down. Just to get 20p off 😂

Why not though? You want it gone and buyers want a bargain.

I found that haha I was selling item for £1 they were trying to haggle to 80p 😅

Right but the people who buy 2nd hand clothes are probably trying to save money. So if they can get 20p off why shouldn't they ask. The fact you think it's a silly discount means for some people they'd just accept it and then the buyer has saved 20p.

A PP said that buyers seem to think sellers are a shop well I think some sellers think buyers should somehow be grateful for every purchase and think too much of their items.

Exactly! Both parties want as much money as they can!

Yes I regularly list stuff on ebay because I want it gone and frankly I'll take what anyone offers as long as it covers postage

So? If you want to hold out for the full £1 hold out otherwise why not let them have it for 80p?

I agree with you.

On the app you can change what mailing options you use for delivery. You can opt out of the ones you don’t want to use but obviously your buyers have less postage options.
