Watching this show ‘The secret lives of Mormon wives’ I had no idea their lives were like that or allowed to be.
Anyone Mormon here or know any Mormons?

I have one female Mormon acquaintance. She is about the sweetest, kindest, least judgmental woman you could meet.

I think it was cola that was in the same category as tea and coffee which are also frowned on...but its like many beliefs of churches...there are things that are frowned on but tolerated and things that are complete no nos

I think the soda thing really depends on the cultural area of Mormonism. I know some people take the “hot drink” thing to be a metaphor for caffeine so I have inlaw Mormons who view themselves as fairly strict but will have hot fruit tea but view it okay as it’s not caffeinated whereas others will drink caffeinated soda but view it as okay because it’s not hot!

Anyway my takeaway from SLMW was that dentists in Utah are making bank 💰

Growing up my best friend was from a Mormon family. They were the sweetest kindest people ever and welcomed me into their home in a way I have never experienced before or since.

occasionally I went to church things with her and once went on a church camp with her and her sisters which was a bit weird in parts but fine, just different to what I was used to in a catholic family. But no different to any of my friends with more strictly religious families, just a different flavour.

They did have access to an awful lot of American shops/sweets etc (most of the members were American and lived on a nearby USA air base) and that definitely made up for any extra prayers at the dinner table 😂😂

we’ve both got kids now and life got in the way and she moved quite far, but when we occasionally meet up she still brings me a root beer 🤎

Oh and actually, her siblings run the pre school one of my DC goes to and their enrichment activities are second to none! They are absolutely fantastic with the children and they go BIG with celebrating Easter/halloween/christmas/moving up a year etc etc - the kids definitely feel very special
