Would you have your own bedroom if you had space

So a friend of friend is moving house and she has said that the main bedroom which is en suite and has a teeny balcony is going to be her room. She's having a dressing table and fitted wardrobes and the bathroom is hers alone. Her husband is taking a bedroom across the landing next to one of her sons and is sharing a bathroom with him. (Other children are up on next floor).

Would you if you could 🤣

Absolutely. Sleep is sacred.

Dramatic · 03/09/2024 23:44

No I would hate that! As soppy as it sounds me and my husband fall asleep cuddling so we definitely wouldn't want separate bedrooms

loropianalover · 03/09/2024 23:44

For me the ideal situation is to have a spare bedroom with a nice bed so that one of us can go in there when sick, after a night out, or me when I want to be alone on my period. I wouldn’t want to have completely separate rooms with just our own stuff.

No. I like sleeping together & showering together.

Karmaisac4t · 03/09/2024 23:45

I do, and it’s bliss. My DH has sleep apnea, so his snoring is gone now he has his CPAP, but he snored horrendously for years so now we’re just used to both getting fantastic night sleep in our own rooms 😂

TchoupiEtDoudou · 03/09/2024 23:47

Yes. And its on the list of things we re looking for in a house when we move next year.

The plan is a bedroom each with one of them doubling as the guest bedroom. I'm pushing for it cos I'm sick to death of disturbed sleep.

My DC have been waking me for the past 13 years (they have SN). It's now "only" 3 or 4 times a week. And inevitably the nights they don't wake me, I'm woken by DH for some reason.

CornishTeaTime · 03/09/2024 23:47

100% yes!!!!!

boredborednot · 03/09/2024 23:49

Absolutely! Me and the dog…cannot bare the thought of sharing my bed !

TheChosenTwo · 03/09/2024 23:51

We have a spare room that is used when either of us needs it but I treat it as ‘my room’ and have put some nice beauty stuff in there, pillow spray, moisturisers, that sort of thing, and I bought special ‘nice’ bedding for it.
I usually soend one or two nights a week in there as dh snores when he’s been drinking!
Although I can’t stand touching when I’m trying to sleep, the nights we share our proper bed are nice and pretty much the only time we have to talk properly without the dc around. Not necessarily deep chats 😂
I wouldn’t want official separate bedrooms but I do enjoy the nights I go to my other room, good telly and a comfy bed and silence when I’m ready to sleep!

Spenditlikebeckham · 03/09/2024 23:52

My dh built me a bed on our landing..

Mamabear999 · 03/09/2024 23:55

I do and I love it. Husband sleeps in spare room as he is an awful snorer. He doesn't keep clothes in the spare room. We both use the en-suite in our (aka my room). His clothes and things are here too. So we get ready together in the mornings. If we have guests we can sleep in the same bed but I never sleep well and neither does he.

GalacticalFarce · 03/09/2024 23:59

I would love it.
Dh are never synchronised when it comes to sleepiness and heat!
One of us always gets annoyed.

RobinGet · 04/09/2024 00:12

I would and I do! My DH gets annoyed with my alarm going off on weekdays (and I don’t blame him because I’m a bugger for hitting the snooze button 5 or 6 times before dragging myself out of bed) so I sleep in the spare room Sunday to Wednesday. It’s heaven, as I can snooze as much as I like and I can also sleep diagonally in the bed! I do enjoy the rest of the week when we sleep in the same bed though.

SometimeSomewhere · 04/09/2024 00:17

We have spare rooms so could do this but neither of us would want our own bedrooms.

Osirus · 04/09/2024 00:19

Yes I would and indeed already do!

I have my own dressing room and I love it! Could never sleep apart from DH as I love that too! 😍

Ineedwinenow · 04/09/2024 00:23

We have our own rooms, husband snores and I have insomnia plus peri (which is completely miserable for me and it was torture for him) so we made the decision to have our own rooms and we are now close again as sleep deprivation caused a huge wedge in our marriage,

I don’t want to murder him for snoring and he doesn’t want a new patio laying due to me so it’s win win here!

Sadmamatoday · 04/09/2024 00:35

My friend has this, I do too but mines a shitty spare bedroom. So much better for a good night's sleep, my DH is an atrocious snorer

Biggirlnow · 04/09/2024 00:37

No. I have space to do so but don't. I would if DH snored though.

mjf981 · 04/09/2024 02:45

Oh yes absolutely. I will never voluntarily not have my own bedroom ever again. Sleep is too valuable, and far too many people snore!

UnpropitiousNightmares · 04/09/2024 03:57

Nope

JustJoinedRightNow · 04/09/2024 04:01

I already do! It's bliss

wereofftobuttonmoonbebacksoon · 04/09/2024 04:02

I'd have my own room with wall to ceiling book shelves, a comfy sofa, my yoga mat. But I'd still share a bedroom with dh.

Yerroblemom1923 · 04/09/2024 04:26

Yes, I already do. I need my private space. I don't like the mattress in my husband's room. It's too soft so we end up rolling together and I don't really want to touch him.
It's lovely one poster said she and her husband like cuddling to sleep etc. I guess I'm just over all that.

OutrageousImmoral · 04/09/2024 04:27

Already do as married to a snorer.
