To have stopped cooking for my kids

Eldest is 23 and moving into her own place next week, so this doesn't really apply to her.
Younger ones are 18 and 15.
I'm a single mum who works full-time. I'm menopausal and exhausted. Most times I'll have cereal or toast, something really simple.
It occurred to me tonight that I've not actually made them food in a while. And I feel massively guilty. The food is there, they just have to fend for themselves a bit.
Other than that, I'm a very present and loving mum Blush
I do their laundry etc for them. But I simply can't be arsed to make dinners. Don't get me wrong, if they said 'mum, we really fancy your lasagne', I'd do it. But they probably wouldn't as I'm not the best cook anyway.

As teenagers we mucked in with the cooking, often starting the process or helping in the kitchen, which meant we had some great skills when we were left to our own devices and even, on occasions, cooked the whole meal. The kitchen was a busy hub and we helped out, so I am sure that reduced the load on my parents, who both worked full time and luckily were both great cooks. Maybe approach it as a time to chat and cook, so a great moment to catch up on each other's day and break bread so to speak.

Shouldn't? So absolutely shouldn't be able to cook before 17?

Sorry should. My typing is atrocious today.

Haha! Yes I fully agree. Just shouldn't be expected to cook daily at 12, 13 or even 15.

Are you managing to cook for your children a bit more op? I know this is a bit of a zombie thread now, I’ve been thinking about it though

I get it OP and sorry you are struggling.

A mix of simple cooked foods and other nights they have their own food could work.

As you will have an 18 year old in the house could at least one meal per week be cooked by them?

Im not a fan of batch cooking, but something like your lasagne would lend itself well to freezing and could be served with a simple salad.
