This is a letter from a female employee of John Lewis's Cheadle branch. John Lewis told its female employees that they have to share toilets and locker rooms with trans identifying men. The employee says this is having a terrible effect especially on colleagues who have experienced trauma relating to men or who have religious reasons to not want to share a space with someone who is the opposite sex.

What action does MN take against posters who break their guidelines?

For me personally, it’s not the activist bit. It’s the ‘men’s rights’ bit, when what I am advocating for is the rights of transwomen (who I am clear are women). But I suspect you (and your fellow GC posters now expressing disbelief that it is considered offensive) already knew that.

Just because someone’s post is deleted doesnt mean it was a transphobic post, or even a personal attack

What rights do transwomen (men) not already have, out of interest?

Would you advocate the same if someone absolutely believed they were a different age? Their body might be 45, but they believed in their inner soul they were 18. Is that ok? Can they participate in things solely for 18 year olds? What about different race?

No I'm not boycotting JL based on that scanty information.
My previous workplace had unisex toilets. Each cubicle was self-contained, lockable, no urinals, own sink and mirror. No problem.
There's no information in that letter on what they have in mind.

Any context about how men can become women, and if women can be transwomen by the arguments given here would be most welcome. Or will this be avoided. Every. Single. Time.

Nah we just don’t think allowing men in women’s single sex spaces is a good idea. We keep men out however they present becatse we have no way of differentiating between men who are fine, men who get their kicks out of listening to women pissing for example or a man who is going to assault someone

my husband is lovely & wouldn’t hurt anyone but I don’t expect other women to just know this by telepathy hence he’s kept out of women’s spaces. He doesn’t take it personally because he’s not a self obsessed arse, he understands it’s about keeping out all men not just him
